First one sucks. Terrible acting. Terrible character personalities. Mediocre action.

its pure dumb turn off your brain fun. Some people diss the movie and say it's characters are sallow and the story is now deep. I mean s*** it's big robots punching monsters in the face WTF did people want f***ing Citizen Kane? Hell even toro said he give the characters more death but cut a lot of it as he knew he was just making a fun film and the movie did not need that for the type of movie he wanted to make.
Its a great movie a well done pure popcorn flick. I love it but hell I love John Carter maybe I got s***ty taste in films. This is one of those movies people just seem to like to bitch about for the sake of bitching. its like they're just to smart to like something that is just pure simple fun.
Hell just download it if you're worried about not liking it. It's like honest trailers said it's the best dumbest movie of the summer. Here is that video but it gives away some of the cool stuff.

In some ways, I wish it was more like Real Steel. Maybe the trade off Pacific Rim made was exploring more supporting characters instead of just focusing on the main characters.

I love the first one. Everything is completely over the top and stylized, including the personalities. It's basically a big budget action movie created in the same style that a Japanese Anime would be.
Good flick if you're looking for a small step up from Power Rangers. lol.
Everyone knows it's a cheesy, low brow robot/alien beat down flick. But even then it sure was dumb. The producers and directors surely spent 1% of the time trying to execute good story, acting and interesting plot and 99% of the time in the graphic design studio looking at the latest CGI stills from the 3 million animators. Thankfully, I killed time watching it for free on a plane ride.
On the plus side, PR2 won't be out for another 3 years.
Tip for producer: You already went through the German duo and the chopsocky 3-man Chinese dude group. I suggest a quartet of blonde haired Swedes, or a five-man team of maple syrup sipping Canadians! And don't forget to paint the Swede robot blue with a yellow cross and the Canuck robot red with a maple leaf on the forehead. lol

Pacific Rim was cool. Good story, great action, fun cast, and a excellent throwback to classic giant monster flicks. Wish we could get suit action, a combo of practical and computer effects has always been the way to go in my book. Either way, I'm looking forward to the movie.
The cdn rebot will be made out of wood and piloted by a lumberjack with a maple syrup reactor and it's weapon will be the beaver launcher.

I love Kaiju movies, so I can't wait for this. Hopefully John Boyega is better than blonde dude though.

Hopefully they do more fight scenes in the daylight. Most of the ones in the last movie were very dark and/or rainy, and it ruined a little bit of it for me.
