So got the X1 and I play with close friends all the time. On Friday I was able get a party going and played some Battlefield and DR3 but Saturday and Sunday it had issues. So we could start the party and see both of us in the party but only one person could turn Party Chat On, if the other tries then they would get a message saying something to the effect "Party Chat isn't available" or something like this. Anybody else have this issue?

Secondly why did they remove voice messaging. At least if this was there and you were having trouble with party chat you could leave a message and communicate this way but instead you have to try and type out a message. Very dumb

The party chat issue has to do with his NAT setting.

Really because we had it working on Friday but not Saturday or Sunday? Thanks for the tip, maybe we can do some troubleshooting amongst friends.

Edit: On th e360 my NAT was open but do recall some issues with some games when I played. Maybe the ONE has more strict NAT settings beyond Open, Moderate, or Closed.

This worked for me to get Party Chat working. I had nothing like this set on my router for my 360.

OK so after some suggested here that it may be my NAT setting being strict I went and had a look and it is open. However I did notice when testing my ping out that even though I had an open NAT it also said I had a Cone NAT. Not sure what this meant and couldn't figure out on the web if it was desirable or not went ahead and contacted support.

I spent the better part of two hours setting up a static IP for the X1 doing port forwarding and opening the DMZ.

None of this worked and I still can't chat with my friends in private chat.

BTW does anybody on here know what a cone NAT is? Layman's term please.

On your X1, go to the Settings menu, then Networks and use the option to 'Test Multiplayer Connection' (not 'test network connection'). What do the results say? Also, power off your x1 (at the socket) and do a cold restart. The stand-by mode didn't pick up my dmz/virtual server changes the first time. After doing also check that your static IP hasn't changed.

I'm having to re-enable these settings nearly twice a week. It's a real pain.

OK thanks for the tip. I don't think we ever did a cold reboot of the X1 during these steps.

Thanks
