Depends on how much you can get another 980ti?
Or how much can you sell it for?
I am in a similar boat but am waiting on the 1080ti/Titan.

I have a warranty on the card and micro-center will let me exchange my gpu, and maybe pay the 50 dollar difference for the founders card but as far as another 980ti, i dont know. The price remains the same(on the website) since the 1080 doesn't hit the store until the 27th.

If you can't get the additional 980ti much cheaper....id wait for the 1080ti/Titan.
That is what I am doing as the jump isn't as big as it will be when the 1080ti/Titan release.
OR pay the extra $50 and trade up to the 1080 and then sell the 1080 and get a 1080ti/Titan.

So this was supposedly leaked a few days ago, if this is correct, Titan and 1080 Ti won't be 'BIG pascal' nor have HBM.

Anyone pick up a gtx 1080 today?
I managed to snag 2x of them during the tiny pre-order windows that were popping up on amazon last week. Got my shipping confirmation, so, yeah, i'm good. What sucks is nvidia never put out the new SLI HB bridges up for order yet. Kinda lame, considering they are needed to reach the full potential of SLI on the 1080's. Oh well, can't always have your cake and eat it too!

noob incoming.
I want to embrace the holy trinity of the 3 platforms, but I don't know where to start with pc's. (And my tech guy is in cancun)

My goal is something mid range, that can handle new things at an appropriately medium level. The "ultra" settings are not worth the price for me.
Thing is I, again, don't know where to start. I don't know what a geforce 950 is compared to a radeon R7whatever.
I guess if anyone could show me a pre-built pc in a mid range, I'd at least know what I'm looking for.

AMD will get you the best bang for the buck. The FX-8350 is only $160 right now although their new processors will be out later this fall, so depends on your time frame. They'll also be announcing new GPUs I believe next week, but rumors place them pretty damn cheap.

Was sold out before it even went on sale. LOL.

I was online when they went on sale friday.(Thank you http://www.nowinstock.net/) Amazon had in few in stock for a few minutes. But they were the Founder editions not the overclock 3rd party ones I'm looking for, so I passed.

Annnnd they're in! I'm fine with Founder's Editions, since I really don't do overclocking. I wasn't able to score EVGA's because I missed the window when it went up, but the good thing is, since they are Founder's Editions, they are all exactly the same card from Nvidia, regardless of the brand. Zero difference in manufacturing, just packaging and warranty, for those unaware. Now, if only they would release the new SLI HB bridges...

Showy Joey :tounge:

So i think I have made my mind up. I think i am going to go SLI GTX 1070's. Instead of 1 GTX 1080.

This thing is pretty awesome. So small but features a Desktop Intel 6 CPU. DDR4 RAM and can have a Nividia 960 desktop GPU. What makes it ool though is being able to utilize the graphics accelarator and use more powerful desktop cards like Nividia 1080 OR amd 490X.

My patience is running super thin on trying to get a Gtx 1080 at retail price.

You meant they actually charge higher than retail prices?

What I really need your guy's help with is ideas on what kind of motherboard I would need for a good ( Intel or AMD) processor that will let me run 480's in in SLI.

Are you looking to build something completely new? If so on the AMD side you might as well wait. Zen is looking to be out in October and that will have AMD going to DDR4 and PCI 3.0 slots. Intel side I'm not too familiar with so I'm sure someone can chime in.

I am assuming most here will tell you to get a i5...but I personally wouldn't go lower than a i7.
Now which i7/mobo chipset depends on your budget.

Yeah something new. And I
am kind of more of an AMD fan. Thanks for the info.
