Anyone see this?

I'd be surprised if AMD has a 2070 equivalent for $250 but wow that would certainly force nvidia to slash prices pretty dramatically no?

I'd also be slightly annoyed depending on the Canadian $ price of it. 2070's are like $700+ up here which is why I finally settled on a 1070ti sale.

But would be great for gamers if AMD can finally bring serious competition.

If AMD can undercut Nvidia and provide comparable performance, that would be great. Unfortunately AMD GPUs haven't been up to the task for a while. They're really going to have to make a believer out of me this go around.

Vega wasn't as terrible as people made it out to be, they competed and even beat GTX 1080/1070, the issue was that mining drove the prices through the roof and basically put them out of competition with those cards price wise. Power consumption wasn't that great on them, but other than that performance wise they def competed.

Man my ATI 7850 2gb which I know is old died in my old XPS 8300 Dell. Just bought Shadow of War and it ran great. Any cheap cards to replace it with? Like under a 100 that will work as well as the 7850?

RX 570 would be a nice upgrade but it is a little more than 100 dollars, could you stretch to 140? If not there is always RX 560 which is about 105 dollars.

My wallet is ready for an upgrade from my 970gtx but the new RTX seems underwhelming base on value and power, and the 10X0gtx series doesn’t seems a big leap enough

Also the driver Updates were god awful.
At least the last time I had a AMD.

So ordered some parts and made myself a mining Rig that is more powerful than my own gaming pc, two Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1080 G1 Gaming, Pentum G4400 (got a Intel Core i3-7100 3.9GHz that I maybe replace it with), Corsair Vengeance 8GB x 2 , ASUS B250 Mining Expert motherboard, 1000 w power supply, Windows 10 pro:

I have a local person offering to sell me a used GTX 1060 3gb for 100. Is that a fair price?

That's a fair price but honestly a 3GB card in 2018 isn't enough VRAM.
I only play at 1080p on my gamess and compared to the 2gb 7850 this is a really nice upgrade. All my games run at higher settings and fps now. So I'm happy with it for now.

If you want to put your system through its paces I recommend a few games:

Doom (2016) - Nothing like running this game at high res and high frames
Witcher 3 - I know you said you don't have the time but when you get some it will be well worth it.
Warframe- Its an entirely different beast on the PC. Graphically very impressive.

Thanks for those suggestions btw. I did look them up. Doom isn't really my sort of game and not sure if Warframe is either.

I finally caved in and got Witcher 3, 60% off GOTY edition.

Seems like I have everything on ultra? I'm getting probably average of 92 fps with my setup, it dips here and there.

I'm definitely a controller guy though, but the weird thing is with my favorite game of all time Morrowind I have no problem with using keyboard/mouse it actually seems better in that game in a lot of ways.

So far since I got the GPU I've played GTA5 online, and now Witcher 3 and both can run at max with more framerate than needed.

But I worry if I upgrade to a 4K tv that will change everything probably? Kind of feel like I put together a mid-range system at the wrong time.

Consoles are just so easy haha. But it's pretty fun trying to figure out this PC gaming stuff I got to admit, I'm a noob at this point.

Thanks for your help btw and happy new year!

edit: forgot to mention Morrowind with the 1070ti and on my 960evo, it loaded so fast like a blink of the eye or even between me blinking and there I am in the mages guild in Caldera and some Dunmer lady is scolding me very loudly for being an inwit and it scared the s*** out of me! hahah

edit 2: 'nwah not inwit lol wait is that still wrong?

Yeah the Witcher 3 @ 4k is still a beast to run. Outside of a GTX 1080ti and the new RTX line its not gonna run at 60 fps. I play at 3440x1440 which is a nice sweet spot for me.

I know I had pics before making my rig so late in the game but I am on a quest making another with a AMD Ryzen 7 chip.

The one I just completed will be giving to my lovely daughter which she is excited about.

Cant wait to share to all what I be installing!

So the 2060 is basically a 1070/1070ti

They've replaced their entry level graphics card with a mid-range card and price.

Some serious BS. I can't even think of another industry where MSRP is so out of whack. I thought that stuff was illegal or something.

I'm just annoyed that I waited almost a year to get a GPU waiting for a deal, and I got suckered in to buying a 1070ti and now the 2060 comes out at the same price as that "deal", and it's pretty much the same card performance wise.

It's messed up. I'm not mad I love my GPU but they're pulling the wool if you know what I mean. Where is the entry card? An entry level GPU now costs as much as a brand new full fledged console aka XB1x or PS4pro. nVidia needs some competition so bad.

If AMD steps up with their next batch of cards, Nvidia may have to adjust their prices. If not, we'll have to wait until Intel comes out with their discrete cards.

that is why we need to keep AMD going because at least they think of the little people. If we let Nvidia and Intel take the market on their own we are screwed.

If what I'm reading about the new AMD card is correct, it sounds like it's the equivalent of a 2080 for $100 less. So.....not really a whole lot of competition there, but it's something.

The big question is who is going to dominate that entry level market? Can AMD come out with something better than the 2060 in that $250 USD range?

I remember when entry level cards started at about $120 USD and even less. Now they start at nearly triple that. It's messed up.

Still rocking my RX480 right now. Sapphire Nitro+ 8GB or whatever the hell. It's still decent but some games like BFV I can no longer run maxed out. I think a Vega 56/64 or the upcoming Radeon VII is still more than I really want to pay anymore. Kind of odd to think though after being an nVidia person and paying $400. But after seeing what the 480 offers at around $280, as well as the current 590, it's hard for me to pay more right now especially being at 1080p still.

With the 590 currently having a three free games promotion on games that I want, it is tempting to grab one. But all rumors/hints point towards an actual refresh to their mid tier cards later this year. Not sure if it's still Polaris, Vega, or Navi, but it's supposed to be like an 6xx series.

The only upcoming games I'm looking forward to that might test my 480 is Anthem, Doom, Rage 2, etc. Anthem's PC recommendations actually call for the 480 though so hopefully I can max it out at 1080p still. I'd prefer to hold off for the 6xx series instead.

Think I'm going to start a Ryzen 7 build soon. My FX 8350 is old and it feels like I need to upgrade.

It's always significantly higher than the recommend specs.

BFV would be a good teller of how your rig will hold up except i think Anthem will push the frostbite even more.

As in Anthem's recommendations would really be something like a Vega? I didn't play BFV for long but seemed like I had it set to High preset instead of Ultra and it ran fine with that. Or I just did auto settings I don't remember. BF1 I ran at max but that was two years older so no surprise really. I'd be fine running Anthem at High vs Ultra for a while until there's more idea of Navi cards.

I'm not against going back to nVidia but I have a Freesync monitor now. From what I've seen mine wasn't on the list of nVidia compatible monitors though.
