Relax, I'm not angry at you. I just thought it was dumb to say "statistical".

Personally I think Halo 4 was one of the best in the series.

Of course, I only ever play Campaign. I hear more of the complaints com from the multiplayer side.
This. The complaints over the last few iterations have mostly been around multiplayer changes and the attempt to CODifiy it. The campaign of Halo 4 was actually the best since Halo CE IMO (and I played Anniversary right before Halo 4 came out).

I really just don't want 343 to milk Halo to the point where it's no longer a great franchise. From 2009-2012, we had a Halo FPS game every Fall and that is a bit overboard if you ask me.

Hmmm....the title is a bit misleading as the article is about dedicated servers and not really Forza per se (that's not at you Intelli but at the OXM side). Kind of a stupid way to place an article if you ask me. If you want to write an article about dedicated servers, frame it that way. /rant

That said, it's probably the single most anticipated feature for me from the Xbox One side of things. COD, F5, Titanfall all using dedicated servers is a great thing. Hoping to see much more adoption of this from all angles (all MP games whether they be retail, XBLA, indie, etc.).

Gonna suck for those who want to post walkthroughs. Unless someone comes up with a workaround, it'll have to be filming the tv while you play.

I'm hoping for atleast 20 cars on track, but most likely we'll get 18 :'(

I do remember reading somewhere that battlefield 4 will support up to 64 players on the xo

Not sure why it sucks? The article says X1 game footage can be recorded with a video capture device.... just like 360. it's PS4 that has limited game capturing at the moment.

http://arstechnica.com/gaming/2013/...-gameplay-recording-options-on-playstation-4/

The video report from Machinima's Inside Gaming Daily cites a "reliable source" in reporting that HDCP will be enabled on the PlayStation 4, just as it was on the PlayStation 3. While gameplay capture on the PS3 was still easily possible through the "analog hole" provided by the system's component cable output, the PlayStation 4 only supports HDMI output. This would mean that US players who want to capture PS4 gameplay with an external device will have to use an HDCP stripper and will be in technical violation of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, which prohibits breaking any kind of technical means of copy protection.

That.

What many people don't get is that there is some general Halo fatigue setting in that has nothing to do with the capability of 343 per se.

Actually Halo 4 is an outstanding work given that's their first attempt as a team.

The latest "rumour" is F5 supporting 24 cars in races. Turn 10 has not confirmed max players online, but Amazon France posted on their site 24 players..... "For the first time ever, Forza 5 supports 24 players online". That was the translation. I saw it myself.

But they took that line away a few days ago. Either a true mistake, or a feature T10 does not want to tell yet.

I loved Halo 4 cause it expanded the Halo universe so much more than all the other games. Now it's not just the Covenant war, there's a whole new world out there full of possibilities.

Milk it 343! Give me Halo and take my money!

I was just on YouTube looking for any new vids/info n found one where they just mentioned that.

That'd be awesome, almost like a real race...it's gonna be insane yet fun :)

Oh n there was mention of 120 new cars, just FYI for those who may not have known ;)

If they did a halo 2 anniversary I can guarantee it would not be as the people who really want it would like it.

A bit like how they did CEA, they'd remake it within the existing game, which isn't enough for some people. What the people shouting for it really want is probably just an HD texture pack. Also, side note, sales arguments falter when you take into account the fact that Halo 3 has been out for 6 years, and Halo 4 for 1.

Now I'm just a simple hyper-chicken from a backwoods asteroid, but if it please the court, I reckon that's kind of a big a difference.

I enjoy Halo 4's MP. Much more than I did 3's.

They implemented a very Call of Duty sense to the game, among other things (namely some horrible maps).

In what way is Halo 4 like CoD? The little rewards you get aren't game breaking. The maps aren't that bad, MW3 still has some of the worst maps I've seen in a while. The same old formula still works in Halo 4 as it did in other Halo games. A good BR/DMR will do work. I get into more fire fights similar to Halo 2 in Halo 4 than I did in Reach and Halo 3

On the subject of dedicated servers, I do have to give myself props for suggesting this is what Microsoft should do......way back in 2005!!!
I'd like to see MS employ a server farm that hosts virtual sessions of games at high bandwidth. These sessions could be allocated to any game at any time and would be a great supplement to the P2P community. For instance, each Halo 2 "game" would be hosted virtually by MS instead of by the highest upload host that matchmaking finds. That way nobody would have the advantage of being the "host". That may not be practical though.

Further, I even suggested the Microsoft "rent" out said infrastructure at a reduced cost....this was in 2007
Do you think it's feasible for Micosoft to create a server farm and use "virtualization" to host mutliple game sessions per dedicated server(s)? I've been thinking about this for some time and think that since MS "owns" the service, they should create something like this and 3rd party publishers that want to use it, pay a fee to offset Microsoft's costs.

I'm just glad Microsoft read my posts and implemented what I suggested

Not sure of the importance in the thread title of "kind of for free"...I don't care what companies have to pay for dedicated servers, just that they are used. Online play is going to be sooo much better without cars jumping/ghosting about.

I feel exactly the opposite.
Halo3 was the high point of the series's mp, while Halo4 is easily the worst.
Halo3 was clean and balanced, the usable equipment was genius, and many of the best maps were in Halo3.
Halo4 is/was a train-wreck. One needs to look no further than the online multilayer population numbers to see that Halo4 mp bombed hard.
Halo2 HD multiplayer having Halo4/5's mp setup...would be an epic fail, and be the absolute final nail in the coffin for the franchise.

Microsoft is developing its own virtual assistant for Windows Phone, PC and Xbox which will rival Apple's iOS butler Siri, new reports suggest.

The software is named Cortana, after Halo's blue AI who hangs around with Master Chief.

Sorry Chief, I can only look for businesses in the United States, and when you're using US English.

Mentions of the Cortana project have been popping up for some time, ZDNet has revealed. The name was spotted on a leaked Windows Phone build in June, and reappeared this week with mentions that it would eventually replace the existing TellMe service.

Cortana is then expected to roll out for PC and Xbox One operating systems as well.

Microsoft has discussed the development of its own Siri rival in the past, but mentioned that it would only reveal its progress when it had something "more revolutionary than evolutionary" to show.

"We could come out with something now like them [Apple], but it wouldn't be state of the art," Microsoft Bing boss Stefan Weitz told CNET in July. "There are teams working hot and heavy on this right now."

The technology is expected to combine Bing search information, TellMe speech technology and advanced social graph data.

Xbox One already includes basic voice controls out-of-the-box with Microsoft's next-generation Kinect sensor, which the company has now made a mandatory part of the system.

I would be all over this. GW2 is easily my favorite twin stick shooter this past gen. I would love even 2 player co-op online, that would be pure insanity
