Anyone excited for this game after the beta?

The original was one of my most beloved shooters of years past but I think part of that was the indie-esque charm and bargain price which spawned a diverse, casual community. The first game was simple fun. A great playing shooter with a distinct goofy style. It released as a discounted title with a ton of great features and was followed by fantastic developer support and all of this at no extra cost.

The second edition seems to take the goofy style of the original and push it bigger to the point where it becomes more cliché then silly. Top that off with a retail $60 price tag as well as its own "limited" edition and it seems like the game went from charming to calculating.

I guess the writing was on the wall back when EA introduced microtransation for the card packs mid-way through the original's lifecycle but right now I am feeling only bitterness toward a title I once loved.

I like but after paying a low price for the Xbox One version and getting the Ps4 version for free.. I can't justify the $60 price of part 2.

How much was the retail price for the first PvZ? I only paid $10 for the XB1 version during one of the MS sales.

This is a new marketing strategy by EA. Slowly boil the frog rather than dropping consumers in hot water. Or is it new? I don't know. Just sick of the big gaming business nowadays. :(

I liked the first game. I'll probably wait on the second game. Anything that isn't a must play on day one takes a backseat at $60. I'm trying to save my money these days.

It'll be cheaper/free eventually. I'll wait.

I am definitely intrigued by it. Seems right up my alley but I agree with the consensus, $60 is a bit high.

After being disappointed by The Division beta I am going to use EA Access to check out Garden Warfare 2. Early reviews seem to have a heap of praise for it although they also talk about how slow the grind is to unlock new card packs....something that really wasn't an issue in the original and immediately makes me think EA tweaked to force people to buy coins instead of just collecting them from gameplay. If it turns out this is a $60 freemium game then I will be even more pissed about the price hike.

EDIT Took a couple hours playing with it today. Yes their is a ton of characters and variations. Like the original you get the main variant for each character out of the box. Coins seem to earn at similar and collecting many of the variants wasn't an issue in original. Sure, if your need everything you will be logging a lot of hours considering there are now 14 characters with half dozen variants not to mention all the decorative gear and alt perks. It is a crazy amount of content but I don't see that as a bad thing. Also, if you own original you can go to in game mail and open all your previous unlocked vatients and perks so you start off with that bonus. All in all it seems over flowing with content.

If this game fails then I guess my Feb purchases would be down to Far Cry Primal...which looks fun but not enough single-player-only fun to have me not wait for a sale.
