Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare

I got this from Gamefly yesterday nd the game just throws you in, no tutorial and doesnt explain anything. What are these card packs I can buy? Are they one time use?

No, they aren't one time use. They have have a mixture of plants you can plant in the pots for defense, zombies you can summon for offense, new character pieces, unique items to dress your characters in, abilities, upgrades, gestures, etc. Try the Gardens & Graveyards mode, that is the most fun. There are about 7-8 characters now per class & there are 8 classes, so you have a lot to unlock. There is a "help" section that snaps a "help" app, but you're right, they could have done a better job explaining the cards to beginners.

Any word on when the new DLC comes out? Honestly, I really want a Zombies Ops mode. I know I said it a million times, but it's be a nice addition that really should be there in my opinion.

Yeah...that dude is massively annoying, and at no point does he seem to acknowledge that the micro transactions are purely optional. I don't feel obligated to buy any, and its not like the option to unlock upgrades the original way has been taken away. Just another holier then thou gamer blowing smoke over nothing.

micro transactions are purely optional, but that isn't the point. the point is - why would anyone thank EA for adding f***ing microtransaction to unlock content in a game people paid retail money for. they are solving a problem that exist because EA put it there in the first place. if they want my thanks, then fix it so I don't have to invest 10,000 hrs in the game to unlock the characters and weapons that are worth a damn. or just call it for what it is, make it f2p and give everyone who purchased the game a bunch of in-game currency credits for the retail money they already spent.

not saying it is a bad game. it is quite fun, but the model it is built on - the idea that anyone would thank EA for offering, at a nominal fee, to remove the huge c*** they rammed up our collective in asses in the first place, is a bit stupid.

It doesn't take that long to get coins and unlock characters in this game. Want more coins? Perform better and rack up more points. The game rewards quality players. Personally, I dig the system it has already and think it's pitch perfect in earning the unlockable content as opposed to just giving hand outs to players who aren't very good at the game.

I just got the game and I haven’t unlocked a lot of goodies yet nor do I have a firm handle on all of the game’s mechanics. But I totally love the art style and character models. They are just so darn cute. I also like that there is a lot of content for the price with co-op which is super fun especially when a boss shows up and deathmatch and objective modes to round out the package.

What I don’t like is once again EA went with a randomized way to unlock things just like Mass Effect 3. I hate this type of system because it just needlessly prolongs unlocking items and really annoyed me when I got duplicate items. This is clearly geared towards to the microtransaction model so I spend more money but I’m not falling for it. I’ll play and use the in-game currency and once the game stops being fun I’ll be done with it. If you’re going to offer the ability to pay to unlock things at least let me purchase exactly what I want instead of giving me some random junk I may not care for.

Anyway, I want a Peashotter plushy doll. Its not for me I swear.

This game is on sale for Gold members this week. Valid through May 19th.

360 - $20.09
X1 - $29.99

Want to get X1 version but damn, I just don't have the time. Haven't played TF in 2 weeks and it's not for lack of want. Damn you job, family and responsibilities!!!

This game just screams microtransaction is what I think as well. Could well be a coin booster which is not even that hard to come by.

I am a s***y gamer but you know what, I paid the same for my copy of the game as you. Why is it I am not deserving, in your world, of the better characters and weapons in the game?

How about we flip this elitist bulls*** and allow the handicapped to have the handicaps. Everyone starts with everything and we take stuff away from the good players... they shouldn't need top tier weapons to keep their bragging rights. Then if they want the stuff back they can buy it.

Well what about games like CoD that have a progression model? If I'm a better gamer, I rank up faster and get more weapons/attachments/perks than you (maybe even in the same amount of time played). How is that different than PvZ? I haven't played PvZ so I don't know....it's an honest question. To me, it only sounds different because there are microtransactions as an option in PvZ and not in CoD. To fully rank up in CoD, you generally need to put in 24-30ish hours of play time.....maybe PvZ is skewed so you have to put in a lot more?

Lol, never said you weren't entitled to it, but yeah, games should reward skill. That's not bad in anyway and folks who are bad at the game still get plenty of coins, especially if they actually play the whole game. I mean, you play two full rounds of Gardens & Graveyards and you're bound to earn 15,000 to 20,000 coins. I'm saying they struck what I find is a pretty solid balance for casual and hardcore players when it comes to unlocking stuff. You complete in-game challenges to get more stuff or use the skip cards you earn to plow through them. Pay attention to what points you earn during gameplay and remember that it's not a strictly kill the other guys type of game. Heal, revive, build, and plant to maximize the amount of coins you earn in a game. I mean, you get points for planting pots. It's not that hard to get more content in this game. Certainly not the butt pounding you make it out to be.

I've had all the achievements for a bit now, the Stickerbook is full, & have been max rank, 233, for a couple days. As with any other game it's boring with nothing to unlock...but I realize I play more than most people. I hope the next DLC is a large update again.

Free pack out tomorrow: New game mode, new map, two new characters, Matchmaking update (join Party games easier)

...this is honestly my Game of the Year for the first year of Xbox One. With how much they've supported this game, how much free stuff they've given away, & it was only $40 to start? C'mon man, if you don't own this title & haven't played any Gardens & Graveyards, then you don't have a soul. haha.

Nice, my internet seems to finally be stable right now. We'll see, but this comes right on time for me. Especially since it'll be up against Gotham City Impostors for the XBL free game.

Yeah this game is the most fun I've had online in years honestly, They did an awesome job with it.

Everybody should get this game its pure fun.

weird how people are still playing this. got bored after a month, i guess its casual fun.

Not played it for a while but that's jut cause of a few new releases.

Game is fun.

Vanquished Confirmed is fun. It reminds me of the mode in Halo where you had to collect skulls from the dead, but the points are automatic as soon as you touch. Hope they give a version of it for more variety. Plus, I'd love a classic CTF type of game. Just re-use the gnome.

Didn't realise you didn't have to unlock the 2 new characters, that was a nice surprise :txbcool:

You really just open the card packs to unlock the two new characters. They are fully equipped. lol.

God this game is still amazingly addictive. I try to play 1 game and I end up playing 5. Any word on if they plan to do at least one more DLC pack?
