Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare

If you preorder from Game Stop you get "two booster packs" here's a description of what they do below.
"Booster packs include character, gameplay and customization items for multiplayer and co-op game modes."

I'm guessing booster packs can be bought with real money too.

"Booster Packs" lol. Even a game they are charging $10 more for on Xbox One for no apparent reason is going to have more microtransactions. Can we go back to Halo 2 original Xbox era pricing? You know, there were no microtransactions & most of the map packs for every single game were...wait for it....wait for it: FREE!

Count me in. X1 though. I'm not even going to read reviews; I'm just going for it.

The packs from an interview with Adam Sessler they are just packs of customization. Examples: weapons, skins, and other stuff. Similar to Mass Effect 3 multiplayer and they said they might add micro-transactions later.

I was ready to give the game a chance. I mean it looks unique and there's not a lot new coming out. It won't be the next halo, but fun for a change from COD. MT though just killed my interests. After the MT in PvZ 2 killed that game. this game just became a wait and see or rent only.

I'm hoping the MTs will just be to add cosmetics or get certain abilities faster. Basically, I'm hoping they can just be ignored.

Nice! I like this!

With the issue of frame rates and resolution coming center stage following the recent launches of Xbox One and PlayStation 4, the producer of Plants vs Zombies, a game that is available on Xbox 360 and Xbox One, running at 30FPS on the former and 60FPS on the latter, talks about the sticky issue of framerates in videogames.

You know what sucks is this game coming out on the 25 and its not worth getting it because of titanfall will be out in 12 days after this. I'll get it when its games on gold or something

Saw this in an old Polygon article

Lindley added that PopCap hopes to take an approach similar to Mass Effect 3's distribution of multiplayer add-ons when it comes to DLC for Garden Warfare. Post-launch add-ons will be available to all players for free, including more maps and modes. Lindley added that current DLC plans for the game extend to "several months post-launch."

Hopefully that is still the plan.

And Gamespot recently explained the ingame card packs you can buy

Garden Warfare’s in-game store is the place where you’ll buy defensive plants for use in the game’s Garden Ops horde mode, new class variants for your plants or zombies, and cool gear to customise your plant/zombie squad. It’s also where Garden Warfare deviates the most from other shooters. Where other in-game stores lets you earn or pay for specific items in their respective stores, Garden Warfare randomises this process by using a collectible card-like system of packs. Buy a pack and you’re given a random assortment of cards, which will either contain defensive plants, stickers that need to be collected to unlock class variants, or other gear. Like other collectible card games, each pack will contain a set number of “rare” cards, although you can pay for more expensive packs that will guarantee better or more lucrative card types.

You’ll pay for card packs using in-game currency earned by playing through Garden Warfare. But how about microtransactions? A system where cards are earned randomly seems ripe for such a move, so will Garden Warfare go the way of some other recent console games and try to implement a microtransaction system? The answer, right now, seems to be a solid maybe. During my gameplay session, a PopCap representative told me that a final decision on the inclusion of microtransactions was still to be decided. They’ll have to make that call soon, though, with the game due for release on February 25 for the Xbox One and on the Xbox 360.

Again, that's just like the packs you would by in ME3.
I'm pretty sure like with ME3 they will be purchasable with real money from the beginning, especially if the extra maps and modes are going to be free.

i am looking forward to the co-op in this, not enough 4 player co-op games on X1. i am really missing horde mode (i still have gears and x360 but i just cant play x360 anymore lol)

So uh, this game comes out in a week...Think I might go Digital with this one..
I'll be getting it for either $10 via a few traded in games (old wii ones) and might trade in a couple more. Gamestop always has some kind of trade-in deal. I'd recommend that if you're looking to unload a few games off your shelf.

I might do that...Even just for Microsoft points..idk, playing TF Beta through a download was nice...No disc to deal with..

I don't know, worst case scenario, you trade the game in for a few bucks when it's lost that initial value or sell it to somebody for $20 or so. It really depends on how much you get out of the game.

I get that, but I still feel it's worth getting because of the co-op. There's nothing else out anyways. I've been playing BF4 forever & I'm pretty tired of it when it's the only things I'm playing. I see Titanfall as a limited experience too for some reason. I like it a lot, but let's be honest, there's no single player (don't care too much) & the gameplay is very arcadey. It's really a few repeated motions over & over that could get boring as well after a month if you unlock everything quickly. We'll have to wait & see.

That, and this game has more of a action/strategy feel like Monday Night Combat (for those who played it). I feel like this game will have more legs to it than some will give it credit for.

It's just good that it's not full price, because I am already slightly hesitant in spending $40 on it knowing it's $30 on 360. I know EA's tactics & I really despise them as a company. They are only getting my money because there's really nothing new to play right now.

Well, I just want to support Popcap. Shame they let themselves be bought out by EA, but as far as I know, this is their first 3D game and it looks pretty stellar. I'm just hoping the game runs smoothly. Those EA servers have a terrible reputation and it's not like this game has had a beta. At least X1 folk get split screen gameplay. I'll be buying it day one because with the trades I pre-ordered with, I only have to pay around $10, but there's that chance that the servers will suck.

Just saw the vid, so glad they included some tower defense mechanics. Gardens & Graveyards could end up being similar to the original Monday Night Combat.

Is that a good trait for the game to have.:txbconfused: I enjoyed Monday Night Combat.
