During a games event in my country i played some Bloodborne, a short bit of The Order, a very brief bit of SO and some The evil Within. Also saw AC Unity on Xbox One and two colleageaus of mine played it.
I started with some Bloodborne. It looks quite nice, like what you see in the most recent videos from sites like Gamersyde. I played that part. I do not like how static the environments are though, very little physics, very very much like Dark Souls and not improved on it. Also we are in 2014, when it comes it'll be 2015, we can't still have enemies glitching through stairs in their death animations, but it does happen. Animations wise it really stands out, but in a bad way for me. It is improved over DS but not by that much and it really is not on the same level as the graphics.
I do like the clothing physics though and the setting is very Jack the Ripper and Dracula-esque. Cool music too and if you enjoyed the Dark Souls games, this will be right up your alley, it's faster too. But i just am not as hyped as many others are, i don't see it. Yes i am sure i will enjoy it when i eventually buy PS4 and this game, but.....it really isn't blowing me away.
The Order was rather brief, cause something must have been wrong with that controller. The character didn't do at all what i wanted, when i moved the analog stick up, he went a different way. Two guys also playing it i heard them say ''Wtf...this game plays itself''. It did at times though and then it would let me take cover and pop out and shoot...but it was just too brief to properly judge. It was the part that they revealed when they showed the game for the very first time. It looks good though and i for one kinda like the Letterbox format in this one.
So finally we got to play Sunset Overdrive and STILL i do not know i amgoing to get this game. We barely got to play it for longer than 5 minutes. Started out on the ground...tried to do some parcour but i couldn't really get it to work, i tried climbing a building but....nope and then i kept being owned by this big creature, lol. It does look good though and the guns are typical Insomniac, so that's good. Aiming and shooting felt good to me too, but i really miss a sprint button. I am sure i could get used to not having one though. But honestly...i need a demo, i really want a demo.
The Evil Within. It was on X1, it was chapter 9 Cruelest Intentions. The chapter Pete Hines played in a stream. Graphiclly it does its thing, not mindblowing, but good enough. Animations too. Shooting is fun but aiming takes getting used to. Definitely a creepy atmosphere and some hideous enemies. Too short a play session to say this, but i'd say this is what Resident Evil should have been all these years.
AC Unity. Looked quite good most of the time, lots of NPCs in the gameworld, very impressive draw distance but the framerate had some serious stuttering now and then. I asked a Ubi guy and he said it was an old build, will all be fine in final build. Two co-workers played it and said the combat has really improved and changed. It is more challenging now and enemies don't await their turn to attack.
And there was this indie game...a total surprise for me. Coming early 2015 for X1,PS4, Wii U and PC. I really liked it.
