During a games event in my country i played some Bloodborne, a short bit of The Order, a very brief bit of SO and some The evil Within. Also saw AC Unity on Xbox One and two colleageaus of mine played it.

I started with some Bloodborne. It looks quite nice, like what you see in the most recent videos from sites like Gamersyde. I played that part. I do not like how static the environments are though, very little physics, very very much like Dark Souls and not improved on it. Also we are in 2014, when it comes it'll be 2015, we can't still have enemies glitching through stairs in their death animations, but it does happen. Animations wise it really stands out, but in a bad way for me. It is improved over DS but not by that much and it really is not on the same level as the graphics.

I do like the clothing physics though and the setting is very Jack the Ripper and Dracula-esque. Cool music too and if you enjoyed the Dark Souls games, this will be right up your alley, it's faster too. But i just am not as hyped as many others are, i don't see it. Yes i am sure i will enjoy it when i eventually buy PS4 and this game, but.....it really isn't blowing me away.

The Order was rather brief, cause something must have been wrong with that controller. The character didn't do at all what i wanted, when i moved the analog stick up, he went a different way. Two guys also playing it i heard them say ''Wtf...this game plays itself''. It did at times though and then it would let me take cover and pop out and shoot...but it was just too brief to properly judge. It was the part that they revealed when they showed the game for the very first time. It looks good though and i for one kinda like the Letterbox format in this one.

So finally we got to play Sunset Overdrive and STILL i do not know i amgoing to get this game. We barely got to play it for longer than 5 minutes. Started out on the ground...tried to do some parcour but i couldn't really get it to work, i tried climbing a building but....nope and then i kept being owned by this big creature, lol. It does look good though and the guns are typical Insomniac, so that's good. Aiming and shooting felt good to me too, but i really miss a sprint button. I am sure i could get used to not having one though. But honestly...i need a demo, i really want a demo.

The Evil Within. It was on X1, it was chapter 9 Cruelest Intentions. The chapter Pete Hines played in a stream. Graphiclly it does its thing, not mindblowing, but good enough. Animations too. Shooting is fun but aiming takes getting used to. Definitely a creepy atmosphere and some hideous enemies. Too short a play session to say this, but i'd say this is what Resident Evil should have been all these years.

AC Unity. Looked quite good most of the time, lots of NPCs in the gameworld, very impressive draw distance but the framerate had some serious stuttering now and then. I asked a Ubi guy and he said it was an old build, will all be fine in final build. Two co-workers played it and said the combat has really improved and changed. It is more challenging now and enemies don't await their turn to attack.

And there was this indie game...a total surprise for me. Coming early 2015 for X1,PS4, Wii U and PC. I really liked it.

Yeah I wish we could get devs to pay more attention to clipping, as graphics improve it just stands out more.

Nice write up!

Evil Within is suppose to be 30 fps across platforms. How did the frame rate feel? 30 fps? Smooth? Hit and miss? Did it affect gameplay or aiming? I remember reading frame rate could be sketchy in articles a while back. So not sure if the frames have been tidied up.

Honestly i did not pay much attention to the framerate. It started outside in black and white, it turned to colour, outside that mansion. I entered the mansion and overall from there...it felt fine, it felt smooth to me man. And i do remember seeing the stream with Pete Hines, this exact same chapter and the loading times seem better now. I remember that they were quite long in the stream back then.

Exactly man. I mean let's compare it to a Rockstar title for example..enemies die realistically and they won't often clip through stairs. Nah physics wise in general it's not too hot in Bloodborne.

Nice write up! Evil Within looks killer, hopefully it doesn't get lost in the AAA barrage next month.

Guns, gore and cannoli looks awesome. Looks like a cool take on the Metal Slug genre. I'll definitely keep it on my radar.

Yeah, I was definitely getting the Metal Slug vibe. Great art and animation. I'll be keeping watch for that one.

Nice to hear the positive replies on Guns, Gore and Canolli. The game is two player co-op if you want and you really have to work together otherwise you'll be dead in no time. It played really fine and weapons ranged from Tommyguns to revolvers, but also flamethrowers and a weapon to electrocute enemies. Definitely the surprise of the show for me.

Inclusion of co-op is a must for games of that type, so much more fun playing through with a buddy!

I think we need to be careful about judging an alpha build like Bloodborne as far as clipping and glitching animations go. They have plenty of time to sort that out.

This thread is full of win. Hoping to get SO, Unity, The Evil Within, and now just added Guns, Gore, and Cannoli to that list! Nice write up.

Thanks all for the kind comments, i appreciate it.

Yeah Guns is going to be very nice by the looks of it. I really am not big on indie games, but this one definitely changed that. These guys will get my money for damn sure.

As for The evil Within, i am going to broadcast it live on Twitch as soon as i get my review copy. Hopefully tomorrow. Twitch name is MosquitoSmasher.

I'm not expecting Bloodborne to drastically improve on Dark Souls 2 gameplay. The visuals should be a big step, but otherwise I am keeping my hype in check.

Watching Bloodborne vids, it gets an A for dark creepy action. Darker than usual action games. but the combat itself looks like standard fare. And as someone else said above, the physics and clipping are no better than typical hack and slashers.
