The spaces between realities!
Do we even have confirmation yet on any resolutions in terms of COD:G or BF4??
Or is it still just 'this guy tweeted this and this person said that'?

Some VP at Sony was quoted in an article not to long ago that COD:G is 1080p on PS4, another article is saying that DICE said BF4 is 900p on PS4 (this article was from 12 days ago), X1 resolutions are so far rumours and somewhat confirmations from reviewers, but nothing from the dev

Jeremy Conrad (ex IGN) also claims X1 version of BF4 is 720p.

According to Jeremy, FIFA 14, Forza 4 and NBA2K runs at 1080p on Xbox One, whereas CoD: Ghosts and Battlefield 4 runs at 720p.

Jeremy further went on to revealed the exact reason why Microsoft executives, officials and Journalists are not talking about CoD: Ghosts 720p resolution on Xbox One?, because Ghosts review embargo ends of November 5 for all platforms, whereas review embargo on Xbox One version lifts on November 12 because of 720p resolution issue.

Polygon is a better source than IGN, especially compared to one that is not working right now. No sensationalism please.

BTW in case you don't know, Polygon is a solid place for videogame information. Anyone who wants to know about games and game cultures instead of numbers should give it a visit.

Let's stop taking every damn thread way off-topic and contain all resolution discussion in here. If you can't discuss like and adult don't post in here. If you get thread banned you won't even be able to view the thread.

I'm gonna go ahead and believe Gies, cause correct me if i'm wrong he isn't as childish as that Conrad guy who started trolling Major Nelson with 720 nonsense...childish as f***. That and that Conrad is a big Sony guy, and from what i hear he spews alotta crap. Gies IS a big Xbox guy, but at least he seems mature and serious.

Outside of the whole 720p thing, Jeremy is saying the embargo is due to the resolution, Gies is saying it's not

Also, Nov 5th is 10 days before PS4 launch, Nov 12th is 10 days before X1 launch..maybe that's all there is to it?

Its obvious thats all there is to it. Embargo lifts 10 days prior release date on both platforms. Pretty much destroys any credibility that Jeremy guy has. Dude worked for SONY online entertainment for christs sakes. Look at his tweets. Clear fanboy. Fanboy enough to go on twitter and post childish tweets on his colleagues twitter accounts. Dude isnt professional one bit

You can giggle at them, go right ahead, but it shows he's being anything but professional there. The stuff he send Major Nelson is something i'd expect a stupid Sony fanboy to do...oh wait...wait..he actually is.

However as for the 720p issue. I didn;t believe one bit of it, until Arthur Gies started discussing it. Part of me still hopes he was trolling people, especially the sad individuals on that other forum, making them excited about bad XBO news and then around 12nov BAM...all rumours was nonsense. His latest tweets are interesting for sure, regarding resolution rumors.

I saw sad inviduals about GAF, because anything negative is turn into a Xbox negative piece right away. Xbox embargo so games can't be compared side to side they claimed, right? Turns out to be the exact opposite. Crashing OS? Gies says nope to that, but we have seen a gif of a crashing PS4 game. Long story short, i am done with GAF. Not that i even still visited the place, but in terms of putting too much stock in those insiders.

There are hardly any true 1080p games on current gen, despite most of us have 1080p tvs. But nobody seemed to care or pressure devs for higher res. Instead, people cared more for texture quality or frames per second. I can't remember any post or thread begging devs to go 1080p on current gen.

Idle speculation and arguments about hypothetical situations--in lieu of hard facts--are counter-productive, and just plain silly. The XB1 is capable of displaying any 1080p game at that resolution, and upscaling any game to that resolution that is not. 'nuff said.

Let me be the first to say....if the resolution is not the same but the performance is great.....so what?

This would be fine if the difference is Res is minimal. If the difference is 720P v 1050/1080P then we got issues.

In all honesty though. The fact we even have to have a discussion thread on such a thing is a huge disappointment. With where tech is today these consoles really should be able to do 1080P @ 60FPS across the board with fantastic visual fidelity too.

Kind of funny coming from the person who before all of this was pretty happy/confident/excited/loved reminding Sony fanboys that XBO would have more games at 1080p than PS4. Now suddenly resolution doesn't matter at all.

We're going to see a lot of flip flopping on stance regarding resolution in the next few weeks.

What stands out to me is the PS4's appparently 1080p requirement. I'm assuming that is native, but it might just require everything to be upscaled to 1080p. Let's assume that it is a native requirement, what tradeoffs are going to have to be made to ensure that? will games suffer as a result? if they do will they can the policy?

MS tried that with the 360, it didn't work so well and was canned, so lets hope its canned as well. Giving the devs the choice is the best solution as devs are naturally incentivized to make the game the best it can be with the resources provided.
