PlayStation 5 spec leak..?

If they were designed to run at 30fps with this old clunker CPU that's in the PS4/Pro I don't think it'd be too much of a stretch to get these games to hit 60fps with a new CPU that's far more capable along with a much stronger GPU. I'm not talking about rebuilding the games just taking the existing ones and giving them enhancements. There could be some issues with how the compatibility works so you could be right, you never know :) I get why 60fps isn't possible on the Pro or One X when upgrading games from the standard consoles because those CPU's are just faster versions of what's already in the base consoles but the PS5 is supposed to be using a custom Ryzen.

It's not possible because some of these games can't run at 4k/60 on a PC with a 1080Ti (which is more powerful than the 1080).

Kingdom Come - forget it
Wolf 2 - nope
AC:O - nope
FC5 - no
Evil Within 2 - no

Wasn't talking about those games, I was talking about 1st party games, games that are already running at 1080p and a locked 30 on a 1.8TF machine with a jaguar and 1440p or above with a 4.2TF machine with a faster jaguar it shouldn't be impossible to see them hit 4K and 60fps with an 8-10TF GPU and a much more capable in every way CPU and more/faster memory. I'm not saying it's a sure thing but with FC5 being able to hit native 4K on the One X with a combo of low and high settings compared to the PC and keeping a pretty much locked 30fps a console that has far more than double the capability in the CPU with an extra 2-4TF on the GPU it shouldn't be out of the question.

I'm not saying 4K/60fps Ultra everything that's crazy but comparable to what we are getting on consoles now with maybe some higher end assets here and there and a few other effects dialed up it shouldn't be out of the realm of possibility. You may be right, we'll see.

I was talking about the new current multiplatform games with PC settings (i.e. higher end assets, features). IMO, I would have a locked 30FPS with better assets for the next-gen games.

When PS5 comes out, fans will want an Uncharted 5 or a LastOfUs 3 or H:ZD 2 to have PC-level quality like in KC but run at 4k/60fps and that's just not happening.

All previous gen games (the new GOW, original H:ZD or Spiderman), sure - not a problem as the PC can hit those with room to spare on a 1070/1080 @ 4k/60.

LOL no it can't

FC5 runs true 4k 30fps on the X and looks almost identical to the PC ultra settings.

If X with 6TF'S 12gb and a weak cpu can run FC5 true 4K/30fps... Imagine what a 10-12 tf PS5 can do and the thing is the PS5 specs are rumored to have a 20 tf gpu.

Yeah I was only talking about upgrading the 2018 releases not all new games going forward :) so I think we are on the same page now. I would never expect them to try 4K/60fps for the games made specifically for the PS5. Not that they couldn't do it, they could always choose to design the game to be 4k/60fps but they wouldn't have the visuals that they could get at 4K/30 and generally on consoles 30fps with better graphics is what is chosen.

20TF? when is this coming out in 2030? :) I'm guessing it'll be around 10TF.

20 is the rumor I heard but again I am guessing closer to 10-12 which will give 4k and 60 fps in most cases just like my (but even better than) the 1080 ti..well my custom one does.

12 TF PS5>12 TF PC

Yeah I've seen some things where people are going off of AMD roadmaps for GPU's but it seems like they think we'll get what the best case scenario for a desktop GPU at that time in a console and that's just not going to happen, I think we'd all love it if it did but we need to be realistic.

Digital Foundry on when PS could make a "generational leap."

"Q4 2019 is our first viable target for a proper generational leap in console power, but the price of that leap in technology looks daunting."

So, expect 2020.

It's also confirmed that Cerny has been hitting the road, asking developers about their wishes for PS5. So any leak of specs would be spec-ulative at best. sorry.

I can't wait to play games in 8K next gen with a 20 flopaflop GPU.

I'd prefer they push it to 2020 or even 2021. The games coming out right now look pretty damn good - no need to rush it. I feel like I just bought my Pro and that was launch day.

Like i said from what i have heard the tech they are going to use wont be viable for mass production till atleast 2020. I don't mind waiting. I would rather have a full blown generational leap and wait a couple of years than the minor jump we had this gen.

I am sure most of them said, Faster CPU and more RAM.

I don't believe anything anyone says for specs. They are never right and always over-optimistic...

Going by what some on resetera are saying there really is no point in waiting for 2020, the components released in 2019 will basically be the same. I would think the advantage in releasing a year before the competition would outweigh any negligible power difference that comes with waiting a year.

The wait wouldn't be for components- it'd be for price...

How much difference would that be though? they aren't changing over to anything else within a year, usually price comes down because of manufacturing improvements and things being able to be made smaller, that won't happen in a year, at least not enough to give up an advantage over the competition.

I remember comments from both companies with the mid-gen refreshes regarding waiting a year so they can price within the acceptable price-range. Also likely why the X outstrips the Pro. A year seems pretty significant. Beyond that, all these insiders are acting like they know anything beyond speculation... and as I said before- they never get it right until far closer to release.
