I don't think this has been posted yet.

Top 10 PS VR (Downloaded) Games of 2016
  1. Job Simulator
  2. Batman: Arkham VR
  3. Until Dawn: Rush of Blood
  4. PlayStation VR Worlds
  5. Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes
  6. Here They Lie
  7. Sports Bar VR
  8. Carnival Games VR
  9. Harmonix Music VR
  10. Eve: Valkyrie
I only have Batman and it is great but short. Been waiting for Job Sim to drop below $20. I am surprised Eagle Flight, Thumper, and Rez didn't take a spot. Best game not listed is easily Holoball.

Nintendo style artificial demand? I've been peaking at Best Buy's website so I make a drunken late night purchase of one but haven't seen it listed in a couple weeks.

RE7 is the killer app for PSVR, even if you barely like horror. It's that damn good.

All I know is I've had an e-mail alert on one at Amazon since before Xmas and nothing so far. Maybe the supply is still just really low? You'd think the post holiday shipments would start tricking in by now. Supposedly Gamestop had them for a bit.

I also seriously wonder if all the people who buy them to resell don't actually cause the artificial demand?

I know I want one more now just because I can't have one. I'm such a consumer whore :)

I'm thinking the shortage is real. This is uncharted water for Sony. I imagine they aren't cheap to produce so I doubt they have great margins and Sony didn't want to mass produce themselves into a hole if sales were dragging. Perhaps they were taking a wait and see with all the early adopters to see what impressions were like to and ensure the tech was holding up. Just speculation on my part.

But that kind of logic doesn't really work with tech that is going to surpassed rather quickly.

PSVR is at the low end of the tech VR realm, and we're probably months away from the next iterations of their VR competitors. Their product is only going to look like the K-Mart version more and more, the more they stall the product.

They were brilliant to bring VR to the masses... Its just a pity it didn't reach the masses.

I don't follow. Which part isn't logical; I agree with your points but don't see how your points and mine are mutually exclusive.

Everything we have coming out that will surpass psvr this year will be low end in a two to three years. The cool thing is while it's priced lower, it has a techical advantage over the high end units with screen door effect and it's more comfortable apparently. That's an accomplishment.

It's a constant cycle. PSVR has a full year on the console front to lay the ground work. It'll have an updated version and a lineup that will make xbox look like it usually does, lacking. MS can barely scrap together regular games, how can they suddenly be a leader here? better technology won't be enough, and it doesn't last long until Sony has better tech and of course software. A year headstart is huge.

Sony will have more units in homes soon, they probably didn't foresee this reaction but they be viewed as leaders, pioneers on the console side. Also psvr has outsold five and oculus combined in an embarrassingly short time with shortages.

I'd hope it would have outsold Vive and Oculus with such a large install base of PS4' and its lower price compared to the other two. What's troubling is the lack of marketing for it and no sales data, the same can also be said for Oculus and Vive too.

How do you compare ps4's install base against the massive pc install base? It's not like people just started using PCs.
You have to admit it's somewhat impressive if it outsold the top 2 VR devices in 3 months. That's a stupidly short timeframe, not to mention psvr supply was extremely short.

This Week In Japan, Hundreds Of People Lined Up For PlayStation VR

Wait, what? Isn't PSVR already out in Japan? You bet it is. And yet, this week, there were long lines at retailers across the country.

The reason being that a new shipment of PSVR headsets hit Japanese shops this week. Demand was so high at some locations that people had to line up for a chance to buy.

Why are they lining up for a failed, expensive gimmick?

I can't imagine the value of a device that makes living in the tiny living spaces many people in Japan live in less oppressive. Besides. Japan. VR porn. Dating simulators... Think of the innovation!

Eurogamer says PSVR version or RE7 is probably the best gaming experience of his life. This is just as much a killer app as halo, going back that far to CE in my opinion, it won't sell as well, but it goes back as far as N64 Mario and even tops that.

To me, its similar to halo because halo solidified shooters of that era on a console. It made the console relevant with a shooter. RE7 is probably the best VR game ever, for many the best game ever, and its only available on PSVR, whereas PC has had access to VR games for years, its finally here on console.

If you have PSVR and you like horror in the slightest, buy it.

Well it was cheaper and MS actually got stock out not to mention motion control just had a bigger impact but this isn't bad at all for a expensive add on

Kinect was 10 million at this point

2 million in 2016 was Sonys original expectations

Also, in the link you posted there is no official word from sony about that number, I read superdata made that up, which is about as creditable as what you posted here:

While Yoshida did not state what their revised demand projections may be for 2016, those close to the company have indicated that they now expect between 1 and 2 million units sold in 2016 alone

In other news, I heard PSVR has sold 50 trillion units. Source - Those close to the company.

PC has a larger install base.
It sold 900+ thousand Vive sold around 200 thousand and I think OR sold around the same(but possibly less) with both being available longer and easier to find. Plus the price isn't much different when you count the extras PSVR needs ie the $399 package will not get you up and running.

So if I go and buy the $399 PSVR it's not gonna work?
