Official Thread Playstation VR

Not worth an upgrade until the display itself gets a resolution bump.

No it has nothing to do with the VR itself. The problem is if you have a Pro you have to loop it through the VR unit and you lose HDR for all games. So, essentially we have to constantly switch out the cable or come up with some elaborate wiring solution (which involves a converter that goes backwards and I can't quite wrap my head around).

I know, but there is a workaround using a switch. I have it set-up on mine to avoid the cable swapping.

It's really hard not to draw parallels here, with Sony, PSVR and HDR vs Microsoft and removing the Kinect port. Microsoft handles the situation by first giving away an adapter for free for some amount of time, for those who upgraded. Then they offer a way to purchase the adapter, for those who didn't upgrade, but still want to use Kinect.

As to this situation, I get that I can go buy a switch and yet another cable to make this work. That is NOT really the issue. All they had to do in the first place, was put HDMI 2.0 ports on there, when they knew they were releasing the Pro near the same time. THEY F-ed up, and aren't even owning up to it. They could have even charged for a PU upgrade! But wait, no such PU is even available. Now they say the have created a new one for a new headset (only one year later, mind you), and that PU is incompatible with the headset they launched last year? If you aren't bothered by this, then I guess you're just too used to companies taking a dump on you. This is quite the steamer, if you ask me

Final Score: 9/10 – Amazing
The Invisible Hours is unlike anything else you’ll play or watch in VR this year; a genuinely enthralling murder mystery boldly told in an entirely new way. Its character-driven drama is near faultless not just in the dialogue and plotting but also in the superb staging and pacing that brings the world to life. It’s an experiment that pays off in spades and could well provide a template for VR storytelling to come.

The Invisible Hours launches on Oct. 10 for Oculus Rift, HTC Vive and PlayStation VR. Read our Game Review Guidelines for more information on how we arrived at this score.

Am I bad for thinking VR was another Kinect like mistake? Most of it's games seem very simple, & short... It reminds me of Kinect's library

I think people will feel burned by the first version of PSVR, & like Kinect will be hesitant to buy into the 2nd version

Sony should have waited until the hardware was strong enough (Next Gen) instead of pushing out PS4 PRO to fix those mistakes. They definitely should have waited for higher-end software support

Library is just too limited in top quality must haves for the price. It may come back and haunt Sony with PSVR v2... like Kinect v2 did for Microsoft

As soon as I played Kinect I knew the technology was super limited. With PSVR I'm having fun daily for a year now, no signs of slowing down.

I guarantee you have not tried VR to compare it to Kinect. It's in no way similar to that experience in terms of immersion.

Oh, I didn't mean the experience is the same, just the results of hardware coming too soon for it's own good, burning people out in adopting each time once a new version comes out, and their library limitations being somewhat similar in lacking enough high-end quality

Idk, I'm having too much fun playing games on it. And the stats show the attach rate is really high on PSVR.

RE7 in VR is the best game I've played since Zelda on N64. There are alot of games I enjoy. Dirt Rally is a top 15 game for me in VR as well, full experience. RIGS. So many games, I completely disagree. One hour at my house and any gamer would see what I'm talking about, I know because I've changed about 20 gamer's minds.

"Gimmick" to "wow, this is next level s***" I've heard that so many times.

Funny, & I'll never forget... Xbox fans would say similar things to me about Kinect, & it's games.

I don't remember anyone saying that. There's a reason too, trying Kinect easily exposes it.
I had many arguments at TeamXbox over disliking Kinect, and I gave the same reasons why... Hardware was not ready, and software felt dumb-down, or lacking enough high-end must have quality titles.

You, like many of those Xbox fans didn't think so...Yet it's how I see similarities in both

Having played Kinect extensively myself and VR, sorry this doesn't make sense to me at all. I understand you want to share your opinion, but even comparing the two makes it difficult for me to take anything seriously after that.

I also find it odd how you're brand new here and attacking something you have no experience with.

I've tried PSVR... The games are lacking IMO. They felt dumb-down, short, and what I tried was mostly looking sims. Much of PSVR's library seems to lack depth to their gameplay, as in the games are very simple to play without much challenge

I never compared the two when it comes to the unique experiences they give... I just see similarities in the lack of high-end support, and hardware not being ready.

RE7 is the only high-end game I have tried... It's like how 360 had many regular AAA games use Kinect. PSVR needs far more of those

What games did you try? Let's hear some impressions of them. Be sure to clarify which games you used Move controllers or DS4 controller.

Why are you so defensive of my impressions of PSVR games?

How about you tell me what you consider in the same quality as RE7 for PSVR?

I don't use Move controllers... I have never liked motion controls

I just asked for impressions=defensive? Huh?

Just a couple sentences. You don't like motion controls, ok. I'm learning here, lets hear more. My impressions are all through this thread already.

Sure...

Batman VR was cool the first time through, but it was more a look at things game than an actual game. It was also super short

Robinson looks good, but for what it offers... it's just a looking Sim

RIGS is probably PSVR's best competitive game, but it got old fast in that it lacked depth in gameplay vatriety. I felt it was too simple

Enough for you?

Sounds like you own a PSVR now to have that much time to play it. Batman "first time through" is 1.5 hours so you played it twice at least(which sounds like you liked it). There are 3 hours.

RIGS you've played to the point of "getting old"? So there's a couple more hours at least. Sounds like you played through RE7 too? Man, that's some extensive experience there. Like 15 hours on someone else's headset. :) Hm.

So that's it?

Hands On: Is Skyrim Any Good on PSVR?

http://www.pushsquare.com/news/2017/09/hands_on_is_skyrim_any_good_with_playstation_vr

Pros and Cons. Cons first.

Cons:

- For starters, the developer seems intent on showing the title with PlayStation Move controllers, which makes for a less-than stellar experience. Navigation is handled using teleportation, a mechanic that’s irritated us in previous games. Yet it seems slower and more cumbersome than ever here due to the sheer size of Skyrim’s world; flashing forward a few feet every second or so just isn’t fun.

- The combat isn’t great either. [....] the tracking is buggy and frankly it’s just not very fun. Flinging a virtual sword about was barely entertaining in the PlayStation 3 era of the PlayStation Move, and it’s not gotten any better in the years that have followed. The fact is that it just feels really squidgy, because you’re effectively swinging a fake sword at fresh air, so it doesn’t really feel like you’re doing any damage at all.

- Loading screens completely break the immersion each time they arise. Rather than transport you to a nice three-dimensional space, the headset boots into cinematic mode – prompting a loading screen within a loading screen – before displaying a flat splash image and then reversing the procedure back into the game. Awful.

Pros:

- The good news is that, as far as we understand, the DualShock 4 will be supported as well – and this is how you’ll probably spend most of your considerable playtime.

- It can’t be understated how much PlayStation VR adds to the experience; seeing locations ingrained into your memory suddenly represented in virtual reality is impressive. The sense of scale is unparalleled; underground labyrinths which once felt small and claustrophobic suddenly tower overhead – and even old adversaries seem more threatening than ever when they loom over you at a full six foot tall. It’s that sheer sense of size – so often a highlight with PlayStation VR – that once again shines.

- Representatives did tell us that the build we were playing was very old, and we hope that means that a lot of our concerns will be ironed out come launch.

- We were also playing on a bog-standard PS4, so there’s no question that the PS4 Pro will improve upon everything that we saw.

Hahahah! Loom over you at Six foot tall.... Lol... I look down at you Six-footers... well, slighty down... LIKE TWO INCHES DOWN!!

You can really see where pro is designed with psvr in mind here.

If they add content to this mode it could be a game changer.

Can't imagine how this looks in the headset, gonna give it a try later.
