Official Thread Playstation VR

I got Doom VFR off that Amazon deal and I'm not super impressed. The game just doesn't translate to VR well. Doom is all about high speed shooting and running and gunning. Not a bad game, but just doesn't translate as well.

I've heard that, but alot of opinions seem to weigh heavily on the control scheme, like one scheme makes a world of difference versus another. You can use AIM, DS4, and Moves.

I'm going to try it with the move controllers instead. I guess after Farpoint with the Aim it feels like a step back. With Farpoint you actually feel like you are aiming a gun. Doom is way more about speed and moving around.

I was getting the hang of it a little more, but the queasy factor sets in too. This game makes me very queasy in a hurry.

Yeah there's a video I saw that really pushes the Moves as "how it's meant to be played" but there are also DS4 people who swear by it. Also I read they doing a patch focused on controls.

Looks like Sony may be patenting a new PSVR controller?

Thumbsticks!
Yeah, with all of that progress they made with the dual shock design, you'd think that they would have actually designed a proper control scheme for release.. but I guess having a two year (possibly more?) head start on the competition can slow down the innovation a bit.

The Inpatient is getting mixed reviews, most of the problems seem to stem from controls with the Moves. Apparently smaller studios have better methods than they do.

If they can patch that or we get new controllers it seems like a good experience. Polygon called it a "brilliant experience" as it sits. Not for me though.

Well, aside from making a new post, I did not see a better place to put this... even though I know it's a bit I of preaching to the choir. I am not going to write a whole review here, but I just wanted to let the fellow PSVR crew know that the Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire experience by The Void and ILMxLABS was absolutely everything I hoped for in a maze-based VR experience, even though it really could have been about 5-10 minutes longer.

You wear a vest with tactile hit translators, a custom 2K HMD with hand tracking, oh and you pick up physical blasters on the way. It's really hard to even describe re-learning to trust your VR vision and navigate going through doors and trusting the accuracy of where the three other players around you are located, but it's new territory for me, and probably even more so for more seasoned VR users. There are also physical tactile 1:1 walls and other objects, as well as feeling the heat of nearby lava.

Overall, I'd say that the hand tracking it's clearly the weakest link here, but this experience also shows just why we do actually need accurate hand tracking. Also, VR in real-time space is so different from VR at home that it really deserves a different name. All in all, not only is my belief in VR becoming a regular part of our culture in the future pretty much intact, it couldn't be more solid now.

Has anybody else tried the Last Guardian VR demo? How did I miss this? Ok, I admit not yet having played the 2D game, but WOW! What a presence Trico has, looming over you in VR! It's really freaky! The demo looks pretty great, too. I wish it was a full game!

It's really something I agree. I would totally pay $60 for a full game in VR.

So this dropped today. From what I'm hearing its really good in practice. Its like a combo of Jet Set Radio, Mario Kart, and a Wii sports game. Don't get it confused, its not just a workout, there's a game here.

Good-great reviews and very solid impressions from users on reddit. I'm probably going to buy it.

I so want PS VR but I just can't part with that amount of cash, cheap for VR maybe but Jesus it's pricey!

I've also got no camera or move controllers so it'd be the full whack to buy this for me.

Does everyone love it in here I'm guessing?

What do you think VR like this should cost? What's fair? There have been some crazy deals lately too.

I love it, it takes up about 75% of my gaming time. Playing on a TV now feels like going back in time in a way, but I still enjoy both.

I mean it's currently too pricey for me; I'm not saying the price is bad as it's cheaper than the competitors out there, HTC Hive and Oculus.

de3d1, have you tried one of these M-Cables that supposedly upscales the image from PSVR?

I thought this was a gimmick...

OTOH, if this works, it would only piss me off that Sony has cheap enough cables to deteriorate the quality. The PSU breakout box crippling HRR already really annoys the hell outta me.

...On second thought, I did some research on these "upscaling" cables... Interesting!

From what I've read, there seems to half the people in the camp of saying it works, and the other half says it's placebo. I wouldn't be surprised if there's a slight boost.

Archangel on PSN for $7. Its on rails and short, but damn it does a good job at what it does. Off rails multiplayer DLC is coming in the spring/summer

Now in development for PSVR. Supposedly it's a dungeon crawler with a horde mode too.

For real. I'd buy it if i could get everything for like $150. Technology yo, slow the hell down. Something new is releasing every day it feels like that i want.
