Good decision! A couple of questions.

Are you on pro or OG ps4? I can't remember if you told me or not.
Are you buying the Move controllers? (recommended)
What type of games do you like? Horror, racing, shooters are PSVR's cream of the crop.

I suggest taking things very slow in the beginning. No more than 30min at a time. I wouldn't recommend any fast twitch games like Doom VFR in the beginning. People like Andy and myself will tell you that VR legs are a thing.

Badmonk just posted a thread in the PS form about giving away a copy of VR Worlds, I recommend playing Ocean Descent to get acquainted with VR in general. There isn't much gameplay, but it gets your brain used it. Also, the London Heist is another simple, but very fun game to help with VR legs.

Games wise, whether or not you're a shooter or horror fan, I recommend Superhot, Farpoint(AIM controller is recommended though) and RE7. These are basically the Mario, Metroid, and Zelda for PSVR. There are many other games, but those are typically voted the most impressive by users. Download Playroom VR(its free) and I recommend playing that FIRST. It's a kiddy, but fun selection of games if you have people to play it with(most are couch coop). Try them all because some are better than others. Robot rescue is probably the best.

Overall, the key to being a VR owner is patience in the beginning. That goes for setup and general use of the technology. There will come a time when everything is second nature and it feels normal, but for now understand this is much different than traditional gaming, you'll literally be transporting into gaming worlds, you won't be a spectator.

Speaking of setup, I recommend placing the camera high(6-8ft if possible for the best tracking) and eliminating any light sources in your room. Understand tracking for the camera is based on light, so interference is a thing, lamps, sunlight, anything can interfere. Also keep in mind all the controllers and the headset need to be in range of the camera's view, so if you lower or raise your controller outside of the camera you'll lose tracking. Also, the "options" button serves as a reset button to adjust your position, you'll likely use that often, especially in the beginning.

Feel free to ask any more questions.

Thanks for all the info I really appreciate it!!

I am indeed a Pro owner and I'm also buying 2 move controllers (or else what's the point right)?

I LOVE horror games and I also really like shooters, so I think I'm in the right categories for PSVR by the sounds of it!

I've taken your points on board and will take my time to embed with the tech, one thing you mentioned coop.....i LOVE coop, how does it work?

I'm planning on getting Resident Evil 7 and my wife wants the Rick and Morty game too!

Oh man, you're in for a treat being a horror/shooter fan and owning a ps4 pro.

Coop works differently, there are the typical games that you play online with other people, granted there's not a ton of them, but couch coop is pretty clever for PSVR. When you download Playroom VR you'll get what I mean. For example there's one game where the other players use a controller and the TV try and kill the person using the headset(a monster) who is seeing a different image. They use the TV and the monster is in the headset. Pretty fun. There's also coop games in the same vein.

Another thing you can do, get a fan and have it blowing on you on low or maybe a ceiling fan on medium or high.

Oh, and you get a ton of demos.

I recom the demo disc #2 if it doesn't come with your unit.

I've had some pretty drastic reactions to people trying my PSVR, but...

It's mind-blowing. Do you own PSVR or just tried it?
I own and love it!

I wanted it the second Sony announced it, but fear of getting nothing out of it because of my eyes (I'm blind on the right eye) kept me from getting it until this year... Thankfully not only do I get something out of it, there's a bonus with having only one eye... I'm Completely immune to VR sickness :D

I so hope that the PS5 rumors are true regarding next Gen VR... going back to flat games just aren't the same.

Nice. I didn't even think of that about having one eye and motion sickness, makes sense. What games do you own and are currently playing?

Its funny owning this thing, its really the only console in forever that people over 30 years old act like kids wanting to "come over" and game lol. Thats something that hasn't happened in years for me. I really do love PSVR.

Gonna wait to check out the holiday sales this year to get a PSVR, hopefully there are some great discounts!!

I would have to assume that they’ll introduce a new HMD.

The rumors are that they will, but the old one will still work, which would be great. Supersampling from higher resolutions is actually extremely effective.

Persistence Reviews. Seems like a harder version of Dead Space with some very interesting mechanics. I have it downloaded and will give impressions later.

Simply put, if you can brave your way through first few hours you'll find your persistence pays off and you'll be rewarded with a fantastic addition to your VR library.
Play Station Universe - 9/10

It doesn't rip up any trees in terms of the horror genre, even in VR, but The Persistence is a game that understands how to deliver proper terror and tension for Sony's virtual reality hardware. Finally, we have a horror game that is fully designed for PSVR and the end result is something pretty special.
TheSixthAxis - 8/10
http://www.thesixthaxis.com/2018/07/24/the-persistence-review/
In The Persistence, the team at Firesprite have concocted a rogue-lite survival horror whose atmosphere and hard hitting combat feel fantastic in VR. Thanks to an impressive array of comfort options it’s also amongst the best PSVR experiences we’ve had, and for owners of Sony’s headset it’s damn near essential.
Gamereactor - 8/10
https://www.gamereactor.eu/reviews/680883/The+Persistence/
Firesprite Studios' PSVR game The Persistence is here to give you another reason to steer clear of space travel, except for this time it's because you're at risk of all your crew turning to bloodthirsty mutants as your ship is pulled slowly towards a black hole.
The Games Machine (Italy) - 8,5/10
https://www.thegamesmachine.it/the-persistence/the-persistence-recensione-ps-vr/
Despite the lack of variety over long playthroughs, The Persistence is a sci-fi survival horror that all PS VR owners should have.
IGN Italia - 8,4/10
http://it.ign.com/the-persistence-psvr/143005/review/the-persistence-la-recensione
The Persistence is a real gem, as well as one of the most long-lasting and complete virtual reality experiences you can find on PlayStation VR today.

Push Square - 7/10
http://www.pushsquare.com/reviews/ps4/the_persistence
The Persistence cleverly blends Dead Space-esque outer-space sci-fi scares with the addictive arcade loop of rogue-lites like Rogue Legacy, resulting in a PlayStation VR campaign that’s both gut-wrenching and weirdly replayable. It won’t take you a million lightyears to complete the likeable campaign, but a hardcore mode awaits when you’ve finished, and clever co-op functionality adds a little longevity to the experience as well. With a compelling gameplay format as well as some great gadgetry, this is one survival mission we thoroughly enjoyed.
UploadVR 8/10
https://uploadvr.com/the-persistence-review/
The Persistence offers something fresh and engaging by mixing different genres that we don’t often see melded together so well. On a moment-to-moment basis the horrors lurking around every corner keep you on your toes and the give-and-take aspect of its roguelike nature ensures that no two runs are ever quite the same. The lack of Move or PS Aim controller support is a bummer, but it still plays wonderfully just on the standard DualShock 4. This is a dark, challenging stealth shooter that PSVR fans can keep coming back to for quite a while.
This Gen Gaming 9/10
http://thisgengaming.com/2018/07/24/the-persistence-review-playstation-vr/
The Persistence isn’t anything original but everything it set out to do it pretty much nails. While I wasn’t drawn to the story so much the combat and constant variety of new ship layouts kept me engrossed and saying I’ll give it one more run. It’s a tense, unnerving and action packed romp aboard The Persistence and any fan of horror owes it to themselves to give it a go.
Metro UK - 8/10

One of the best horror games on PlayStation VR, as well as an impressively inventive first person roguelike that Dead Space fans in particular will appreciate.

A typical post we get on psvr reddit daily.

Yeah, this will definitely happen, especially when you have an experience that you just can't replicate on a TV screen... Then you have Microsoft doubling down on the new hardware commitment, while saying that they've got no VR plans at all. I really think that they are making a big mistake by not even saying "coming in 2019" or anything like that. There are plenty of people who want that power used on more than just 4K flat screen graphics. Xbox team officially has no guts to innovate at the frontier anymore, IMO. Pushing standard videogame graphics is great, but just evolutionary. It's not actually very risky at all. They already have the R&D and technology for very affordable VR all in place, for crying out loud! It's pretty dumb to not at least just let existing MR owners use the X console for VR. Annoying! Just open the Xbox One X up to WMR through an app, and don't even offer any official Xbox hardware until there are enough users. Simple. No risk! They should do it! I can't even think of a reason not to.

Now I just remembered I have yet to get Farpoint/Aim controller.

Farpoint with AIM is incredible, it sits right beside Superhot as the most surreal title in terms of putting you inside the game.

Yeah, its crazy the amount of Xbox owners we're getting now. Tons of people that have been loyal to the brand for years and PSVR is a big selling point for them.

Very unique and I loved how it offers much more than it appears. You just can't play games like this outside of VR. What a time to be a gamer!
