The Plex media streaming app has arrived on both the PlayStation 3 and 4 in Europe and Asia.
The app lets users stream their media files from any storage device to their PlayStation, so all those old movies and TV show recordings that haven't been used since Netflix arrived finally have a purpose again.
Plex launched on the Xbox One and Xbox 360 two months ago but still supports only video files and the PlayStation version is subject to the same restrictions.
The app currently requires a Plex Pass subscription but the developers say that music and photo channels will be added and that the app will be available for purchase without a subscription soon.
As for a US release, the developers haven't set a date, but promise the app will arrive in the States and other regions “in the near future”
