The Last of Us developer Naughty Dog is releasing some new add-ons for the game's multiplayer component today, including nine new "special executions" that are particularly ferocious, the studio announced today.

Each of the kill animations is for a particular weapon class, and each one costs $0.99. The memory limitations of the PlayStation 3 hardware forced Naughty Dog to leave out some of the execution animations from that version of the game, according to the studio.

I'm OK with charging for these types of cosmetic items, but I think they should release TLOU MP as a standalone F2P if they are going this route.

The last of us Multiplayer has the most brutal gameplay I've ever experienced. It really does hurt when somebody manages to execute me...It's friggin awesome.
But yeah, this is kind of effed up. Then again they're not charging that amount just to add the executions. You can see a lot of other things are being offered as well. So it's not all bad!.
 
I see no issue. There are already executions are there not? More Icing is Not a terrible idea at all, imo. If your really want 'em, 99 cents is pretty reasonable. Better than a costume if you ask me, and you don't have to buy those for weapons you don't use. Not sure why it has to be free. The game is complete, and a worth the money as is, so...
