Easily the best show that was ever cancelled. I hope it does happen, but it has to happen with everyone that was involved.

Filing this under “I’ll believe it when I see it” comes news that has fans of Firefly and Serenity all jacked up with hope. Joss Whedon’s short-lived but hugely beloved SciFi series, which continued with the 2005 film Serenity, has continued to hold its fandom. Finally, after years of fans clamoring for more of Joss Whedon’s space western, someone at FOX thinks it might be a good idea to see the remaining crew members of space ship Serenity return for second season/reboot of Firefly. Whaa? Is this for reals? Are fans finally going to get their wishes/dreams fulfilled? Well, yeah, but it’s all predicated on one very important condition.

Fox Broadcasting President of Entertainment, David Madden, recently made a comment that has gotten everyone around the Interwebz abuzz. At a panel at the TCA 2017, Madden informed Rotten Tomatoes that he is open to a Firefly reboot, but ONLY if Joss Whedon (Buffy The Vampire Slayer, The Avengers, and Toy Story) is on board.

“Given the success of Fox’s reboots of The X-Files and 24, and Prison Break returning this year, Madden said he’d be open to a Firefly reboot if Joss Whedon himself wanted to revisit it. Madden suspects Whedon is now too busy with movies, and he would not consider doing Firefly without Whedon.”

That’s an important distinction for fans since it was Whedon’s creativity and filmmaking magic that made Firefly the cult classic it was. As fans know, it was canceled due to Fox’s poor management and promotion of the series. They showed the episodes out of order, didn’t promote the show, and canceled it without airing the last few episodes. Whedon took the cancellation personally and, at the time, said he would no longer work with the company.

I'd murder a goat in front of Stella McCartney for this to happen. But I think it would make a better Netflix 10 episode reboot, than a full season.

I'd also bludgeon a pod of whales in front of Morrissey to bring back another season of Buffy.

Also, Nathan Fillion has turned into the male actor personification of 'Mom Jeans.' He's bloated and looks like he plays golf with Trump.

Not on Modern Family.

He was on Modern Family?

I just saw him on that new Drew Barrymore zombie show, Santa Clarita Diet, and he looked like a dude who would take a girl out on a date and talk all night about how great he was at football in high school. He had some pudge on him in The Big Bang Theory too.

Maybe the lighting guys on Castle were amazingly talented, to make him look leaner. It's probably the same crew that Oprah, Janet Jackson and Mariah Carey try to keep on hand.

In saying that, Serenity was a really tight movie. I was really surprised how well the show transitioned into a 2 hour format.

He's dating Haley, the older daughter.

I honestly don't want a reboot. The show was great, but I don't want to see new actors replace the characters that already worked well in their parts. I'd rather see another movie (or even a one-off single-season series), but only if Nathan F. gets on a diet.

What the slut? For real??? She looks like a giant 4 year old!?

Oooh I just googled what's going on. Lol. I thought he was dating Sarah Hyland in the real real.

Did you ever see a show called American Gothic? I haven't seen it since I was a lad, but two episodes remind me of that show so much.

No, I haven't.

I'd like to see where the characters ended up in life. And I'd also like to get more backstory on some of the characters. Especially Shepard Book.

My god, I forgot Drew Barrymore was a thing. My friend had a huge crush on her, even bought a playboy or some mag with her in the buff. But I’m sorry, her chin is hella scary, moreso than any real zombie, cos it reminds me of one of my old aunties >,<
