For Yakuza fans (all two of them):

Yakuza 3-5 remasters are coming to PS4 starting with Yakuza 3 in August

As of now, they've only been confirmed for Japan, but they've brought over the updated versions of 1 and 2, not to mention 6, so I expect 3-5 will come over, too. That'll put the whole 6 games on PS4 in updated form.

I recently got an SSD for my PS4 Pro after my external 7200rpm HDD died and everything seems to run faster not just the loading for games. My dashboard runs buttery smooth now, when I check for game updates it responds almost instantaneously. I only waited a couple of seconds on the old HDD but this one tells me it's up to date almost as soon as click to check it. The SSD wasn't cheap, it was $400 for 2TB but right now I'm very happy with it even though it's less storage than the 3TB HDD it's replacing. I still don't get people who think these things will be included in next gen consoles, this 2TB drive cost as much as a PS4 Pro, prices won't come down enough in a year or two or hell even five to make an SSD viable for inclusion in a console.

Am I the only one who assumes this is because of how easy these damn things break and wear out?

ha. I was assuming it was because for every console you sell, you sell peripherals.

Do they break easy? I've never had one bust.

I've had a PS4 since launch and I've never had a controller break, the one that came with it started to show battery issues after a couple of years so I traded it in at Gamestop and put that towards a new one and ended up only paying around $30.00

My launch controller started having issues with the left analog stick about 15 months after getting it. I just use it as a wireless controller on my laptop for emulators and stuff now. The other 2 I've bought, plus the one that came with my Pro haven't given me any issues.

Yeah, they're looking at how well Nintendo's retro consoles are selling.

Link saying to hard is the reason PS1 games don't play on PS4?

It's just the usual snark. Don't worry about it.

Here's more info:

"Speaking with Mantan Web (and translated by ComicBook), Sony Interactive Entertainment President and CEO John Kodera (also known as Tsuyoshi) described the company's attitude towards making a PS1 packed with old games. He stated that the company was mulling over the idea of making a Playstation Classic. However, he seemed to suggest that the company was only discussing the possibility.

"Our company is always digging up past assets," said Kodera in the translation. "I think there are various ways to do (a classic console). There have been discussions happening (within the company) on what kind of ways are there."

Kodera did not confirm if it was happening but it does show that Sony has taken notice of what Nintendo has been doing and what they might be doing. The NES Classic and SNES Classic have sold extremely well. Nintendo announced last month that the SNES Classic sold over five million units. President and COO of Nintendo of America Reggie Fils-Aimé told Time Magazine in April 2017 that the NES Classic sold over two million copies in five months. These impressive sales caused them to sell out during their limited runs but Nintendo is resurrecting them on June 29th."

Sony might have a little more trouble creating their PlayStation Classic. Sony thrived on third-party support more than Nintendo, which succeeded more with first-party titles.

Sony: We're Exploring What Our Customers Want from Portable Gaming
Good luck with that

The last time Sony talked about handheld gaming, former PlayStation president Andrew House ruled out the possibilityof a PS Vita successor, while Worldwide Studios bigwig said that the “climate was not healthy” for portable gaming. While we still believe that statement to be generally accurate – the Nintendo Switch is a very different beast, let’s be honest – it sounds like new boss John Kodera is more open to exploring the sector than his predecessor.

Speaking with Bloomberg, he had the following to say: “In my opinion, rather than separating portable gaming from consoles, it’s necessary to continue thinking of [portable gaming] as one method to deliver more gaming experiences and exploring what our customers want from portable. We want to think about many options.”

It’s an interesting comment, although it’s far from confirmation that the company will release another portable system.

Not really a fan of the gold font on that Slim, although I like the blue.

$20 for Shadow of the Colossus sounds good.

Not a fan of that design at all. I prefer subtle special editions myself.

Sony blurs out Xbox One controller in their own trailer for Destiny 2 DLC:

https://screenrant.com/destiny-2-xb...al-Distribution&utm_source=SR-TW&utm_campaign

Sony recently uploaded the extended video doc for the Destiny 2 Forsaken expansion, but there was something different about the video. The version on the PlayStation YouTube channel features one slight difference from the one that Activision had initially sent out. As spotted by some eagle-eyed viewers, the Xbox One controller that a developer uses during the video is blurred out in Sony's upload.

scored that gran turismo sport and horizon zero dawn (by the way it is the version with the DLC added not the standard edition) I sold my standard copy to a co worker so I basically got the newer one for almost free he he

In case you missed it during the conference, COD: Black Ops 3 is available for PS Plus members as of tonight.

Not sure if anyone else saw this but I really like these kinds of games, loved the old Ecco games on Sega consoles.
