Remember reading about this game before release. Sorry
Super hyped, got the game, super disappointed. Mediocre game with an interesting art style. Can't see that this have aged well.

I assume you're talking about the original game, which came out 20 years ago on the PS1. I never played it. The gameplay does look like pretty simple hack & slash. I've heard that the humor is a bright point.

Of course, what people like about these games is 1) nostalgia and 2) you don't see this kind of game anymore.

Here's how it reviewed at the time. From the wiki:

"The game received positive reviews from critics upon release. It received an aggregate score of 80 percent from GameRankings[21] and was mostly praised for its Halloween-influenced atmosphere by many critics.[31][2]IGN's Chris Roper praised the game's sense of humour and unique presentation, but was skeptical about the game's "sloppy" controls and disjointed level designs, noting that the game's graphics did not age well overtime as compared to the PSP remake which offered superior graphics and gameplay."

"[31] Game Revolution similarly praised the humour but criticised the game for being too straightforward and "easy to master", noting that the graphics and gameplay were slightly inferior to that of Banjo-Kazooie,[29]"

"The reviewer of Computer and Video Games criticised the game's repetitiveness, but said it "looks nice, and plays OK".[33] The reviewer of Next Generation liked the dark humour, but complained about the camera, saying it does not smoothly keep up with the character."

"The music and atmosphere were the mostly praised aspects of the game. Many reviewers compared the visuals to be similar to Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas, Joe Fielder of GameSpot credited MediEvil for its original look and number of unique puzzles, but criticised the camera work, summarising that a "tighter camera control" would have been a necessity."

The remastered version should fix some of those complaints -- controls, graphics, and camera (I think I heard they were going to tweak the level design a little, too?). It won't fix the others -- e.g., too easy, repetitive.

I might bite if it's $20 or so, if I happen to be in the mood. I don't know what they're going to ask for it. If it is priced like Crash ($40), that's too much for me. I'd just look at this as a silly sort of diversion.

For the Catherine remake

Question: Is it possible to use the PS4’s Share function?

Answer: It can be used perfectly! The Babel and Colosseum modes, including online battles, can all be distributed through the Share function! However, it is restricted in the latter half of the story mode to prevent spoilers.

The Forest is out tomorrow, Nov. 6th, for anyone interested.

Excerpts from another article:

Our game encourages creativity. The game doesn’t tell you what to do, so everyone will experience their own version of the story. We try to give players as many options as possible and it’s been surprising for us how different individual playthroughs can be.

We wanted to make a game that was almost fully interactable, where you would be able to chop down every tree or bush, pick berries and mushrooms for food or hunt animals and use their skin as armour.

We wanted to create a real sense of fear and claustrophobia in our cave systems. As you explore the world underneath The Forest, you’ll find some of the game’s most terrifying creatures, along with some of the games best modern weapons and tools.

For no apparent reason, I put Horizon Zero Dawn back in my PS4. I had forgotten how much of a visual marvel this game is.

Sony really hit it out of the park with their exclusives this gen and I haven't even gotten around to God of War or Spiderman.

Upset about Diablo? Maybe this will help.

Still haven't played it myself because Sony hit it out of the park this gen. Like wtf am i supposed to do with all these games man? You gotta pick and choose. I'm not the type to play 3 hours of every game and then neglect each game. If i'm going to play a game, i'm going to play it. It's a commitment.

Now i know why some guys avoid PlayStation consoles. Too many games, it's a damn burden owning this thing. It ain't cause that greatness isn't delivering. That's for sure.

Finished up God of War in a week. Couldn’t stop. It’s that good. Spider-Man is good too. Working on finishing the campaign. Already 100% all the extras in the game.

When you find time of course.

Yeah I've done that a couple of times myself, it really is an amazing looking game, not just for an open world game but any kind of game.

Spider-Man bundle for $199. That'll sell a few.

Good PSVR deal. $199 for unit, camera, Moss, and AstroBot.

What if any changes would you guys like to see to the playstation 5 controller? I'm very happy with the DS4 but if it were up to me I'd put in a bigger battery, add a little resistance to the triggers and make the share button a little bigger. Also if they insist on keeping the light I'd love for them to give us the option to turn it off for games that don't use it, that's probably more of a system level thing than the controller it's self but it'd be a nice option.

I agree it would be better if it had a longer-lived battery and also an option to turn off that light. I think they should drop the touchpad and just replace it with a normal button, since that's how most games use it, as just another button. I prefer the offset sticks on the Xbox controller, so it would be nice to see that, but I doubt they'd part with tradition.

Yeah I go back and forth on the touchpad, it was a good idea but hasn't been used very well so it may be an unnecessary expense.

They, and MS need to make the back paddles standard. It's just way better for dual analog control.

Kind of neat. I might pick this up, to alternate with my Horizon theme.

Gorgeous Earth Dynamic PS4 Theme Enters Orbit on the PlayStation Store

"Developer Truant Pixel has done it again, releasing another lovely looking dynamic PlayStation 4 theme on the PlayStation Store. This latest backdrop consists of a high resolution model of our very own Earth, and it comes complete with dynamic lighting that changes based on your system's clock. Nice."

Tore my Pro down a week or so ago, once I realized the thermal paste on it wasn't dry or crusty/rubbery I knew replacing it wouldn't make much of any difference in fan noise and of course, it didn't. I took a few pictures of the tear down. Cleaned the fan, heatsink, and any other random dust, repasted it with Noctua thermal paste and reassembled it.

Maybe a response to the MS acquisitions? Or maybe they're just trying to draw in good people. Regardless, it's nice to see.

Starting God of War ( 2018 ). Is it normal to make my PS4 Pro fan to get extra loud during this game? I've only noticed it in the menus but its noticeable.
