Starting God of War ( 2018 ). Is it normal to make my PS4 Pro fan to get extra loud during this game? I've only noticed it in the menus but its noticeable.

Yup. My Pro's fan, which had never really spun up before (apart from certain menu sections in Horizon), started to whirr very noticeably during God of War. I guess that game really puts it through its paces.

Wtf is Japan Studio?

It feels more like a Ghidorah (this is a Godzilla reference) than a Naughty Dog. Judging by their Wikipedia entry, they've shipped 10 original games in the last 3 years.

You don't know Japan Studio? They created a game that cemented their reputation as one of the greatest developers of all time.

I swear one of the updates changed something. I rarely used to hear my fan at all. Had mine since launch. The past few months or so it can sound like a vacuum cleaner. I have my gaming setup in my basement and I'm in a cold weather area in the NE US (It is damn freezing down here!) and mine still is loud. I play with an Astro headset and usually Spotify blaring and I still hear it.

You may be right about a change because lately I've noticed my launch Pro being pretty loud. I only recently noticed it but now I have to jack the volume way up just so I can game without the distraction of the fan going into overdrive. It sounds like a damn leaf blower when it used to be whisper quite, perhaps my launch unit is about to die.

I'm betting they changed the fan setting with an update. I haven't had any issues other than the noise. Does seem weird, but hopefully the fan is just doing what it is supposed to.

My Pro has always been loud :(. Though I see some YouTube videos of people opening theirs and cleaning out dust and it is quiet again.

I have a second gen Pro (CUH 7115B) and it's a bit more quiet than the launch Pro but it's still loud IMO. Through third gen Pro (CUH 7200) is quieter.

A SOCOM being developed with the lessons learned from BR is super exciting. OMG...please be a VR game.

In other news, we have another interesting post from someone at ResetEra.

"A small vignette from a conversation I had with a dev regarding PS5 launch timing:

Original plan was Nov 19, pushed back to Spring 2020 earliest to ensure adequate launch window titles available.

Launch window in 2020 is still wide open due to unexpected PS4 sales performance, 2019 sales will have a greater bearing on timing than Sony thought even 6 months ago.

Comment to dev from another with a confirmed PS5 project was ‘You will have time to meet launch window timeframe’. Given that’s usually considered to be launch date +6 months that’s a window of Q4/20 through Q1/21.

PS5 dev environment (not physical hardware, software simulation) is ‘out there’ for devs with confirmed PS5 projects.

No BS, not seeking ‘insider’ fame, just felt the convo highlighted an interesting point about timing.

Other stuff - DS & TLOU are on track for this year IMO."

I still feel like it’s too soon, late 2020 or early to mid 2021, let it be released alongside death stranding at least

Death Stranding is meant to be in localisation phase and the amount of foreign speakers Naughty Dog wants to hire indicates they might be in localisation phase too.

I wonder who is doing it since they dumped Zipper. I loved SOCOM 4.

SOCOM 4 was an utter embarrassment to the franchise and was the reason Zipper was canned.
Hopefully the new game if there is one will take back to the golden days of SOCOM 1/2

Nope I loved it. Especially Agent 45.

SOCOM 2 was great. By god the online was super janky though. Mainly just low ass framerate but also still fairly early days of PS2 online.

They said in the first paragraph that it’s not confirmed.

The list is pretty dismal as it was only two games that are exclusives. Days Gone and Judgement.

Well then, guess I’m saving money this year :p I’m sure there’ll be some neat suprises come E3, from indies, or any other event that they’d hold (psx, hopefully not near the end of the year)

tell me if this makes any sense, I have a PS4 Pro, and my headset is a Turtle Beach 500P Stealth 7.1 which I have been using since I got my last Fat model (uncharted trilogy bundle). For a while the headset works FLAWLESSLY but in the last few months to a year (depending on how much I use it) if I turn it on AFTER my PS4 I hear it say "power on" but I hear nothing over the headset, if I turn it off I hear "power off" etc, If I turn on the headset BEFORE my PS4 THEN I get sound no problem. Any ideas why it is doing this? for the record I have it hooked up to the rear USB port and I have the included optical running from the side of the dongle to the optical port next to said rear USB port.

EDIT I forgot to mention that the Pro I have now is my 2nd one I sold my old one to a friend and bought a new one so is there MAYBE a setting I did not enable fully when connecting it to this one?
