PS4 Pro Discussion

dumb question time are there any games that REALLY look good on a Pro compared to the normal one? Also when looking at TVs I saw a few 4K sets but how can I tell that they will really work well with the Pro?

There can be a startling difference. I have 4K and going back to 1080 can be jarring sometimes.

Not really.

I think having a capable TV is a big part of it. My Brother has the Pro (and vanilla), but doesn't have a 4k tv and says it's not really worth the upgrade. Of course the bennies to VR are hard to argue against. I think Scorpio will run into this issue to some degree unless the bump happens to more than frames/res.

Not really.

Are you even sitting close enough? My eyes are getting worse with age, but the resolution difference in some of the games alone is a huge difference over the standard console.

I notice a difference for sure, even 1080p games that the TV is just upscaling look good. Games like Uncharted 4 and Horizon look amazing.

I see a difference of course, but not OMG. I am running a brand new 70 inch 4K UHD TV with HDR enabled with the PS Pro and the Xbox One S. Maxed out to their best, and while they do look better, I am not like freaking out because they are oh so much better.

Prepare to be disappointed by Scorpio.

You must've had a good TV before. I went from a 720p plasma to a 4K set and it is OMG visuals for me.

I won't be because I am not freaking out

I probably will be, I'm admittedly pretty hyped. I assume some launch titles will have some of the same woes we see with every new console though, I imagine some people are going to be overly dramatic about some games not running at full 4K 60fps.

still shopping for a tv for my Pro model I saw a nice Vizio 4k 50" that I liked, one feature that I thought was cool was it had 5 HDMI ports which is great cause I have 5 devices that uses HDMI.

Yep, there will always be people who are never happy. I kind of wish MS would stop saying "4K, No excuses" etc since they've also said devs don't have to use the power for native 4K. While those of us who read interviews with these guys will know it's not a forced thing that games have to be native 4K if they keep saying it in promotional material it's kind of misleading. Not that most games won't be native 4K, I'm sure most will as it's the easiest way to use the added power.

As far as 60 fps for all games people have no right to complain, that was never promised and it's not really something that depends on power. Any game could be 60 fps if the devs cut back on enough other things that they thought were more important.

Not sure which model but check out this Vizio. Has full-array backlight so lighting will be even. I think VaLLiancE might have this as well, or at least has a high opinion of it. Just be sure on how much room you have as the legs aren't adjustable.

I have the 70 inch version and it's not very happy with the PS Pro, at least not on input 5. I have my X1 on input 1, and I haven't tried the PS on that in put yet. They (Vizio) keep beta testing patches though.

The Vizio I have is supposed to do 4K @ 60hz on imput 5, but only does 30hz.

So X1s and Pro were borked on that tv.

Not sure what Dave's price range is but reviews for Sony's new 900E is looking friggin aces. Really think I'll pull the trigger once Denon's 2017 receivers come out. And looks like they've already dropped the price on the 55" to $1500 which is good.

I don't think that TV even has HDR, plus I've seen a lot of people having issues with that TV even working well with the Pro.

I was looking at the 55" version of that TV at Walmart, and wasn't impressed at all.

Yeah, as far as I know, only the M and P series have HDR.

That's what I've read as well when I was shopping around last year.

well that sucks I really cannot afford the prices the HDR sets are going for some were almost 1000 bucks. will at least the games look good in the higher resolution more than my current 1080p set?

I got my LG 4K 10 bit HDR tv for like $399 during the holidays. It does everything I need it to do.

With 2017 models starting to show up you should get good discounts on last year's models at some point.

HH Gregg is going out of business. Maybe you can find a deal on a 4K TV there. That's if they are even near you...
