PS4 Pro Discussion

i see your point that Microsoft doesn't have the studio count that Sony has. This isn't anything new.

I don't agree with Microsoft's strategy of buying second party games as exclusives instead of building up studios. But it what they do. Sony has had a few instances of second party studios making exclusive games.as well. I don't discount them.

MS has plenty of studios now, they've added quite a few over the last few years, it's not about studio count it's about the quality of the studio as well as giving them what they need to realize their vision. I'm not discounting the 2nd party studios as far as the overall quality of the games I'm discounting them as far as the technical work when it comes to visuals. I don't think many of the studios that Sony contracts to do exclusives for them take advantage of the hardware as well as their 1st party studios do either, other than Ready at Dawn who did amazing work on the visuals for The Order the other 2nd party stuff doesn't match up well to the 1st party stuff IMO.

My point is that MS owned studios rarely seem to push the hardware the way that 3rd parties do on their consoles, the vast majority of the best looking games on the 360 were from 3rd parties not MS internal studios and that doesn't make sense given that 3rd parties also have to work on other platforms. For all the talk of about them being a software company they don't seem to be able to give their own devs the tools to get the most out of their console. I know people will bring up the 60 fps stuff for Halo but that started this gen, we had 8 years of mostly average looking 30 fps games on the 360.

I don't really see a problem with this discussion but i feel compelled to complain about your post and ask you if we can keep Xbox talk out of a PS4 thread like others complain about PS4 talk in the Xbox threads. It really doesn't bother me, because PS4 is the best place to play but for principle sake i'm going to have to ask you to leave if you keep this behavior up.

Disclaimer: Completely disregard that i started the discussion with my post last week like pro Xbox guys start the discussion by overhyping their preferred system and downplaying the competition in Xbox threads. Thanks, and have a nice day.

What were some of these amazing looking third party games?

RDR, GTAV, Battlefield, Fight Night, Splinter Cell and more, those are just off of the top of my head and a few of those had more than one game in their series.

So not a lot then.

I personally put Rockstar up the with the likes of Naughty Dog. So yeah their games looked amazing.

LOL I took like a minute to think about it, we are talking an 8 year period for a console I haven't touched in over 3 years, I'm not going to spend a lot of time thinking about old games, I said at the time that MS games never seemed to look quite as good as major 3rd party releases and I still think it now, if you don't agree good for you.

I don't. But that's fine.

Was thinking earlier. The PS4 Pro is so unlike Sony. The PS1 was out for 5 years before PS2 came. Then the PS2 was out for 6 years before the PS3 came. Then the PS3 was out for 7 years before the PS4 came.

Now we get the Pro 4 years after PS4. Maybe there's a trend there. Time to restart the cycle at 5 years. PS5 confirmed for 2018 and then PS5 Pro in 2022. Long Live Play!

Well like Sony says.. The next generation doesn't start until they say it does.

Generations might be dead to Microsoft but who said they were calling the shots anyway. PS4 Pro was simply for better VR and to get a foot in the door on 4K gaming. PS5 will be the true 4K beast, no compromises. Every game 4K/60fps with ease. Can't wait.

If they announce an Ultra Turbo Pro model with higher specs I will quit gaming entirely.

I would be pretty cheesed off as a PS Pro buyer if new hardware hits in 2018.

What am I going to do though? Line up day 1 to buy it. :)

I would hope there would be at least some decent deals for trading in a Pro when you buy a PS5. If PS6 came out in 2020 then I would also be done with gaming. I need at least 3 years between FFS.

It wouldn't bother me if I had one. It's my choice if I need to upgrade or not. Of course, if they started doing exclusives within the first year, maybe two, I'd be annoyed.

I would hope interconsole(?) exclusives wouldn't exist anymore if they are truly going the PC style route of upgrades.

I'd be okay with a PS5 in 2018 if it were BC. Otherwise, no.

As I understand it, they're waiting for the tech to evolve, so they can really take the next jump. That's not going to happen by next year.

As long as they stay with the PC like architecture(they likely will with Ps5)
BC should never be a issue again...
They could try and milk or take there time with it though.

Same here. As much as i have no real desire to play PS3 games right now i wish the PS4 had proper BC. Bringing your library with you is a must in the future. Let's hope Sony got the memo.

I only have about 30 PS3 games, and the most important ones (for me) I bought remastered on the PS4, so BC as of now isn't really that important. I have a 60GB PS3 and never played more than a handful of my PS1/PS2 collection on it. I wouldn't mind the PS5 having BC, but I don't want the price increase to be immense just to have that option.

I recently hooked my PS3 up again to play some games I missed. I needed a break from the onslaught of 60+ hour games that came out this year so far.

Just another stop on the way to the Pyramid.
