PS4 Pro Discussion

Just another stop on the way to the Pyramid.

I don't like the way it looks after the 6th layer.

Same here. As much as i have no real desire to play PS3 games right now i wish the PS4 had proper BC. Bringing your library with you is a must in the future. Let's hope Sony got the memo.

Hasn't been a must this generation, although it's been a nice feather in the cap for MS. We'll see how Sony handles it going forward. The tech challenges will be easier, now that they've abandoned that weird Cell architecture.

Well Halo 5 will be enhanced on the X.
I'm sure Halo 6 will be announced by next year. If money isn't a issue its a win win to own both or even a pro and switch combo.
Anyway enjoy the Pro.
Money would be tight I think, I have 2 daughters .....I was really hoping for Halo 6 this E3 or at least a teaser, one of my good friends still has his XB1 and won't be selling his so we'll be nailing that when it comes out (2 years I'd guess).

picked my 2nd Pro supported game got Ghost Recon Wildlands from a buddy of mine who did not care for it my god is this a gorgeous game damn.

It has some bad textures here and there up close, but the game is pretty great looking overall. It runs pretty smoothly as well for how massive the world is. It's probably my favorite PS4 game so far.

Yeah, that's some good gaming on the way. I assume you're up on the PS4 catalog, the_slayer but if you want suggestions, just ask.

Cool. You should definitely get into The Last of Us. Best game last gen, this gen, and ever. Still tugs at my heartstrings.
I've been wanting to play The last of us ever since it came out but have never had a PlayStation system until I took the plunge, I'm so happy I did as I've got a back log of these types of games to invest in :)

I think so but it never hurts to add to the list, so far I've got:

The Last of Us.
Uncharted (4 then 1-3).
Horizon.
God of War (not sure if I need to play them all or just the last one before the new game drops).
Until Dawn (PS+ freebie).
Days Gone (whenever it comes out).

I've also brought dead nation apocalypse edition as me and a friend love Coop gaming!

I would if they announce some decent exclusives which hold my interest, to this day Halo is the only exclusive I hold any interest in :(

If do come up with the money for an Xbox One X and you pass on it, be sure to check out PSVR, it works very well with your pro.

That's a great selection and some of my favorites.

Here are some more suggestions. They won't all fit your taste, but give them a look:
  • Journey, if you haven't played it already
  • Ratchet and Clank - old-fashioned, fun gameplay, great visuals
  • Bloodborne
  • Crash Bandicoot N-Sane trilogy - especially if you played Crash as a kid
  • Gravity Rush remastered - Vita port of a quirky Japanese title with fun traversal mechanics; might not be your style, but I enjoyed it; wait for it to go on sale
  • MLB: The Show if you like baseball
  • WipEout Omega if you like futuristic racers
  • Heavy Rain - PS3 updated title, heavy on story
  • Nier: Automata and/or Nioh, a couple of well-received Japanese games

On the indie front, Nex Machina has been getting a lot of praise, as did Resogun before it. Both are arcadey shooters. Transistor and Soma are two other indies worth checking out.

You mentioned a couple of upcoming titles. You could also check out Death Stranding, Spider-Man, Dreams, GT Sport, WiLD, and Detroit.

And of course, Knack. Don't ever forget Knack.*

I'm assuming you've got the multiplatform titles covered, since you've been playing on Xbox S. I'm just mentioning the PS4 exclusives, because you're new to the platform. If you're looking for multiplatform suggestions, Skyrim Remastered, Witcher 3, Far Cry 4, and Rise of the Tomb Raider 20th Anniversary edition.

*just kidding. Forget Knack immediately.

Thanks for these I'll be adding them into my "need to get" list!

I've got multiplats covered I think as you suggested, Destiny 2 and for the first time in a very long time I'll be buying COD, WWII has got me hooked!

Thanks for all your help, I'm really looking forward to getting stuck into these games, it'll probably keep me going for at least my first year :D

No problem, hope you find a lot to enjoy. I know I have.

Btw, you'll probably only like 50% of the games I listed (tastes vary), so I wouldn't put all of them on your "need to get" list. Just put them on the "need to check out" list for now. The only one on the list I'd consider a "must" is Journey.

Cheers. :)

Of that list, I can agree that Journey, Bloodborne, Heavy Rain and Nier are must have games in my opinion. I know I will be in the minority on this, but I would add The Last Guardian to that list. I think it is totally under rated.

A friend of mine has it and says it's kind of hard and that it only take a couple of shots to kill you, I was going to buy it but he talked me out of it lol. How is it to play offline?

I really am going to have to give it another try, when I have more time to devote to it. I think it would end up being a good experience, if I would just be patient with it.

I made several posts starting here: Ghost Recon: Wildlands

I haven't been able to update the game since a few weeks after launch due to the massive sizes, so idk what all they've done with the game since then. That HDR issue I mentioned was due to my TV not switching modes properly at the time.

I like the look of it a lot, but it would annoy me seeing it standing out next to everything else being black on my stand.

I'm the opposite. Lol. My lounge has black chalkboard paint for the walls, and my tv and entertainment stuff is all white.

Looks really quiche.
