Official Thread Sea of Thieves - Private Game Session's Coming

Looks funny and entertaining, but I still don't get the "hook". Is there a campaign? I see a means, but is there an end?
The sharks are hookers, the skeletons are thugs, the ships are cars, it's GTA.
(I dunno. I never got at all into GTA either of the times I tried one of them.)
Shame microtransactions will be coming, but atoeast they seem firmly against pay to win.
I do wish they would activate solo pplay in the Alpha now and again. In my experience very few people are using a mid in the Alpha. Sometimes people wont even show you the map/riddle.
I do like the adding of gamers names to the world though.
You might now...you didn't when I played it. Howver, it doesnt really matter, i was trying to illustrate how unteam worky people were being a few months a go.
When the next Wednesday play session comes about I'll fire it up and see what has changed.
Some people still try to downplay it. At least give credit to that aspect of the graphics.

Just keep in mind the absolute blacked out areas are probably that way due to his video capture hardware likely not taking into account HDR range.
Honestly I think thats the case for a the majority of games coming this fall.

Giving credit where it's due...SOT is getting major props all around for the way it demoed at E3. Even Game Informer, who's been largely uninterested in the game, gave positive feedback. It was IGNs game of show.
Really hope they pull off the game loop well. What do I get to spend my in game currency on? Do we level up? What cool surprises will be in this game world? I'd love, for example, it if out of no where one day some giant sea creature appeared in the middle of the ocean and they gave a reward to whoever killed it first.

Maybe you'll find a shipwrecked drunken squirrel and be able to play a hidden level or something? Ha.. I can have my dreams.
SoT is going to be awesome. I played when it first started the demo and I can say this going to be so good.
They did say there would be monsters...there is a pic that shows what appears to a giant octopussy just beneath the surface.
Loot earning will be used to buy cosmetic stuff for your pirate. There was also mention of ship customization.

Rare’s Sea of Thieves is surely one of the most anticipated first-party games published by Microsoft Game Studios.
At E3 2017, it was revealed that the game will launch in early 2018 on Windows 10 PC and Xbox One, though chances are that a beta test could happen later this year. Speaking to Metro GameCentral, Rare’s Executive Producer Joe Neate professed his strong belief in the project and the direction it can take post-launch.
It’s been the best thing we’ve ever done. I’ve been in this industry 18 years and it is the best opportunity that I’ve ever had. And the game that I’ve believed in most strongly. This game and where we can take it, the scope that we can add for this game – the different things to do, the different ways to play, the different stories the players are gonna have – it’s mind-blowing.
Neate also revealed that Rare does not consider Sea of Thieves an MMO, and they consider encountering another ship two or three times per hour the ideal compromise.
We call it a shared world adventure. It’s not an MMO. When someone asked that before I said we’re a ‘memorable multiplayer online game’. That’s all. [laughs] It doesn’t matter how many people are in the shared world, only that they’re there and that you’re gonna have encounters with them. And it’s the frequency of those encounters that matters.
Two or three times an hour you want to see another ship, basically. That’s where we’re landing as like the perfect session.

Sea of Thieves will support the Xbox One X, of course, though PC gamers should rest easy – features like Ultrawide support (21:9) and high refresh rate (up to 144Hz) have already been confirmed by Rare.

You seriously might be on to something. Who's to say that classic Rare characters don't show up with their own missions? Imagine the buzz if there's an entire Conkers add-in.
