That era is hard to get into for me...

I'm generally not a fan of westerns at all, if I see a western movie on tv I change the channel but RDR managed to suck me in big time and remains one of my favorite games of all time so I have high hopes for this one.

Young kind says something hypocritical and ironic.

Westerns are probably my favorite movie genre but this trailer...does nothing for me? I'd rather watch a well done 2 hr movie than play through a 30 hour game that struggles with narrative the whole time. Plus, that dead eye aiming system looks stupid AF.

I'll still get it but I'm hoping the multiplayer is great.

Maybe it'll have 45 minute cutscenes like MGS.

Some of those environments are the best I've ever seen in a game, everything else looks decent.

The difference is that I look at this game and think "Why wouldn't I just go watch Unforgiven instead?"

With MGS there's no real Hollywood equivalent. Uncharted is a bad Indiana Jones. Metal Gear Solid isn't a knockoff of anything in popular culture.

And like I said, I'll still most likely be giving this game a shot. It's just something I notice with story driven games.

1. You are on crack if you didn;t think that looked impressive visually.

To be fair you both must be. You've said in the past that Uncharted doesn't impress you so.. I know both of you are Forza fans though and enjoy mindlessly racing for laps on end more so than the occasional generation defining game, so you have that in common at least.

But ya, just the other day i was feeling down about the state of gaming right now. Nothing to truly get excited about besides the usual stuff, including Red Dead 2 and then bam. Rockstar shows why they're one of if not the best devs to ever step foot in a studio. Can't wait.

When you watch closely you can see a lot of little details in the animations that make the whole thing look more real. The subtle movements here and there really come together nicely. Just look at the fighting, it's not some over exaggerated (but still cool looking) martial arts thing , it just looks far more like how a good sized man would fight.

Go find a post from me saying Uncharted didn;t look good visually. Never said it. I did say Uncharted as a game sucks monkey balls...which it does.

Also, mindlessly? Obviously you have no clue what you are talking about.

I can tell you right now that video two has to be better than this. I have ZERO desire to babysit a community to keep them happy, or pet my horse to make him respond to me better when riding. I just want to play the game and do missions. None of this RPG bulls***. And based on the video, it wasn't very impressive graphically as far as the characters are concerned.

I don't know man. Just didn't sell me.
I have a similar feeling, there are adding many features that sound cool on paper but superficial & chorey Joey. Improve community spirit by a doing DHL quests for them. Boring as s***. Reminds me of fallout 4, there is this dude, every 5 mins tell me a settlement need saving. After a while, I stop caring.

More =! better. Focus on a few core things works better.

Then don't do them.

looks almost identical just different era.
Id bet its the same engine.

You need to watch it again, the textures are better, better details and more realistic lighting, the draw distance looks improved the models look better, there isn't one area where this game looks like it hasn't improved significantly over the current gen version of GTAV IMO.

As far as the engine yeah it's an improved version of the same engine just like every other dev has been doing forever, they almost always just keep adding to an engine they are familiar with.

Graphics look amazing, can’t believe that is even a debate. Still not sure what I think about the actual gameplay so far. Seems like the moment to moment gameplay could end up being boring or tedious.

I don’t like games that you have to play for hours at a time to accomplish anything. I’m past the point in my life where I have that kind of time.

7 / One of the big novelties of the game lies in the notion of camp. How does it work ?Can the player create his own camp, move it from one place to another?

The player can change the camp, while following the story. What he does know is that the Dutch gang is being pursued, so he has to be on the move. The story of Red Dead Redemption 2 being a few years before the events of the first, we are witnessing the end of the era of the outlaws. The world around them is changing, modernizing and they have been rejected by society. Their way of life is coming to an end and the scenario will follow this gang, which will try to survive and continue to perpetuate this way of living so atypical. The movements of the gang are intimately linked to the story. As for the camp, and you saw it during the demo, Arthur can contribute to his development, or not.

8 / In this regard, what are the consequences if Arthur does not handle the camp properly? If he brings neither money nor resource? Are people going to starve? Will some desert him?

Yes, in a way, we can say that. It's a bit of an idea. We will try to leave a field of possibilities quite important for the player. It depends on how you act, your contribution, a little as if it was karma that was going to decide for you. You will have to do things for the camp, for your friends or family members. You never know what's going to happen, but if you act in a positive way, the people in the camp will make you feel good. We made it an integral part of the story, that the player can get involved in the camp. But we also tried to balance the system to prevent it becoming too time consuming, or mandatory. We know that some players are not going to join this management system, so we tried to find the middle way to give some freedom to the player. For example, those who invest heavily in the camp will be greatly rewarded, but never punish others who do not want to manage the camp thoroughly. Which makes sense somewhere.

This game smokes GTA 5, Gears of War 4 and The Witcher 2 in graphics. Gears is not open world and the others two are dated.
To say otherwise is simply being disingenuous.

How about "The game looks pretty good? Like, definitely better than GTAV but not far and away better than something like Horizon Zero Dawn or the latest Assassin's Creed?"

Why does everyone have to talk in extremes?

I assume you're talking to me since no one else said anything even close to extreme.

Btw how is saying it's "one of" the best looking games I've seen, extreme?
