This will be the game of this generation...for me at least.

Without a doubt, same. Not to undermine that statement, but with the games released this gen, it won't even necessarily be that big of a feat. This gen, for me, has been fairly underwhelming, especially on the xbox front. With all those studio acquisitions though, I hope xbox turns it around in the next one and at least keeps pace with playstation...

I haven't enjoyed this gen anywhere as much as last gen, but I haven't been disappointed with it...at least with the PlayStation. If this game turns out to be anywhere near as great as it sounds like it'll be, I'm gonna be disappointed with every game that releases for years to come. It's gonna be hard to surpass for a while.

Agreed. I've only truly enjoyed one XB1 exclusive and that was Gears 4, and honestly that game was just ok, but I played the MP there for a minute. PS4 on the other hand has had multiple exclusive games that have been amazing.

I have enjoyed all of the Xbox exclusives more but there have been a few PS exclusives that I liked too.

Wasn't really planning on getting this, but since I got Blops 4 and Gold again I just might pick it up for online.

Sounds like our interests are mostly opposite to one another in this case as well as Tomb Raider, haha. I do not care for the smaller scale indie titles like cuphead or ori, so really it is only xbox's 'AAA' games that are even considered. Gears, halo and forza are all xbox has on offer on the exclusives front. I'm not a player of racing games, so the forza franchise is of no interest to me, though I suppose I did play a spot of Halo guardians, but there is definitely a lot more than 2 ps4 exclusives that I've found to be highly enjoyable. This generation, the xbox has been primarily my multi-platform machine. It is certainly the system I am buying Red Dead 2 on as I do have the XBX and I still greatly prefer the xbox controller to the playstation's dual shock...

Cuphead was too difficult for me sadly, but I like what I have played. But it's games like State of Decay 2, Quantum Break, Horizon 4, Sea of Thieves looks awesome, but I have been waiting to buy it once they had more content out, Ryse, as well as Recore, Sunset Overdrive, Super Lucky's Tale etc. Sure, I like the Halo's, Motorsports and Gears games too, but it's their other exclusives that have kept my Xbox working overtime.

I really liked God of War though, and Spider-Man is pretty fun.

Nothing wrong with being on the opposite page so long as we are enjoying our games!

Yeah I can respect people's opinions. But when they say that all Xbox has is Halo, Gears and Forza, well that's just not true.

Agreed. Just like the people that say all PS has is Killzone/Gran Turismo/Uncharted. They are just trolling.

I didn't play a few of those games you listed, and didn't stop to really think of what games are actually xbox exclusive, that's my bad and it was a honestly a real reminder seeing those games you listed and realizing the exclusive line up is not as sparse as I tend to think it is. I have a habit of only thinking about what I actually played and jumped the gun on saying all xbox has is Gears/halo/ forza. I used to be someone who got annoyed when people said that as well, and here I am doing it. I guess I was primarily focused on first party, but still forgot about sea of thieves.

I often forget rare are first party, because I don't think I've cared much for their output since they became it. I forgot Quantum Break was exclusive, it wasn't first party, nor did I find it very memorable. It was ok, but I think it was my least enjoyed remedy game. Not very interested in Control either. Even though I'm loving spider-man, I just could not enjoy myself playing sunset overdrive. Picked it up when it was only $25 and still barely touched it before selling it off fairly quickly. Never played Ryse, Recore or super lucky's tale. I even have Ryse downloaded from when it was free with games with gold, but don't know if I'll ever bother.

I rented state of decay 2 and wasn't as into it as I'd hoped, never played the first so didn't quite know what to expect. I don't play most zombie games, but that one looked to have the systems that made me interested in it, sadly the game was a jank-fest to the level that I found it more frustrating than fun. Sea of theives, I played the beta for like an hour & felt it was pretty unexciting, based on what I read, the final game was as well. I really hope all of microsoft's recent (and pending, if the obsidian rumors are true) studio investments pay off though. Really, I hate that I sound like I'm really dumping on xbox, I really like it on the hardware end, they just do not have the first party & exclusive output that interests me.

I guess it's just due to the types of games I like (and how limited that is) and playstation having more exclusive games that sort of fit into that. Xbox's exclusives in large part just do not appeal to me with the exception of Gears & Halo. I'm really hoping that "the initiative" creates something great. Based on the pedigree of the people they've brought on board, I'm hoping we get a great 3rd person action game, preferably melee focused as xbox really doesn't have any kind of game in the same wheelhouse as something like God of War and that is a sub-genre I'd really like them to be more involved in (Ryse doesn't count!). Just please not another first person shooter.

You know what, you're right, I was not putting the proper amount of thought into it when I said as much. Thanks for calling me out on it, for real, I was being too dismissive of the other exclusives they've had. Even if they're not my cup of tea, they do still exist.

From what I've read you can clean your guns at any time, it does not sound like a mechanic where you have to approach a workbench at specific locations or something like that. I get the impression it's just an option from the 'items' wheel. Also it doesn't sound like it's a super obtrusive system in that it won't be required frequently. One of the articles by someone who played the first 5 hours said he never did it & never noticed any detrimental effects. Though I'm sure the frequency at which cleaning or maintaining your weapons will be necessary will be determined by how much you are getting them dirty or wet.... I think it'll be a far more balanced system than say Far Cry 2's weapon jamming was.

We're in to single digit days left to wait. my anticipation levels for this game are at an all time high, even if I'm trying to keep them within reasonable thresholds. I have the release day off, so it's going to be a Red Dead Weekend and I can't wait!

The launch trailer wasn't as good as some of the others, but it was still better than most other game trailers. It's already showing on TV.

Gears of War - 5 games?
Forza - 11 games
Halo - 8 or 9 games that I can think of

It's no wonder people think Xbox has nothing but those 3 games.

Disingenuous.

Sony has spread those games out on more platforms (PS1, PSP, Vita) over a longer period of time (1997). Plus you're including a few budget titles as well.

More importantly, Sony has shown that they don't rely on their three pillars in nearly the same way Microsoft has. Sony has produced an assortment of high quality exclusives not named GT, Uncharted, and Killzone. Relatively speaking, Microsoft hasn't.
