The mysterious P7 will be available on "a wider range of platforms" than previous Remedy titles.

Max Payne and Alan Wake developer Remedy Entertainment has said its next game, codenamed P7, will be released on "a wider range of platforms" and indicated it will run on Northlight, the same engine that powered its Xbox One and PC exclusive Quantum Break.

In a post on the official Remedy website, the studio confirmed that it is "developing its Northlight technology also for PlayStation 4 consoles." Remedy has been making games primarily for Microsoft platforms since 2003, so P7 will be the first game from the studio to launch on a PlayStation platform since Max Payne 2.

Its last game, Quantum Break, was initially released on Xbox One and Windows 10 PC in April 2016. It "sold really well," according to Microsoft, even beating the company's expectations.

In GameSpot's Quantum Break review, Peter Brown awarded it a 6/10, saying its "gameplay is essentially divided equally between combat and hapless environment traversal."

He continued: "Getting to the end of Quantum Break can be an interesting ride at times, but no matter how impressive the combat is, or how great the game looks, there's no getting around the fact that it's driven by a story with limited appeal and hindered by disappointing design decisions."

In August 2016, Remedy confirmed that it is
working with Korean developer Smilegate on the campaign for CrossFire 2
and also has another
secretive
project in the works, which is likely to be P7. At the time it was described as being in the conceptual stage and is
"pretty far off."

Good for gamers sure but can't help but feel like MS should have grabbed these guys as exclusives. Would have give them a good single player, story rich first developer.

Good for them. I'll be interested to see what P7 is all about when it's finished, and hopefully at some point we get more Quantum Wake or Alan Break.

I want quantum break. It looks epic gameplay wise despite its quirks. Plus the visuals are tied so well to the gameplay too

I enjoyed it greatly, but I'm a sucker for a game that can wrap me up in the story and this certainly did.

At the rate these guys put out games PS5 will be available before the game is finished.

All they would have to do is buy back the rights from Microsoft, and then the game is multiplatform.
I love their their games, and I would probably buy a sequel, but none of their brands are THAT lucrative, as far as I'm concerned.

The main protagonist in their stories are easily replaceable (Shawn Ashmore? Really? He's lucky he didn't end up in porn after his first year in LA...), And I love that their stories actually feel finished.

They put out very 'Hollywood' games, and everyone should get to play them, if the glam genre is to grow.

Half hour cutscenes work for some people, and I like the idea of it...

Given Remedy's track record, their key games come up about 5 yrs apart.

So Crossfire 2 (assuming it's a full budget production), will probably come out in 2020-ish. And who knows when P7 comes out.

Remedy never seems to make two full budget games at once, so either P7 is a multiplat game that is small scale, or P7 is a normal budget game that comes out in maybe 8 years.

Actually Quantum Break 2 will be exclusive to HBO.

I guess i just figured it would end up on PS4 because the console is known for movie type games or whatever people bash it for. Obviously it wasn't going to work out on Xbox, there wasn't any aliens to shoot.

I'm a huge Remedy fan. But something about QB's gameplay just didn't click with this one.

No MS hired them to make it. If they want they can give QB2 to someone else or get a first party to make it.

I don't get what you are saying. Nothing you said refutes that they can buy the rights to the game.

It's a MS that they hired a 3rd party studio to make like with the KI reboot. MS own it remedy never did.
They didn't go to MS and ask if they wanted to publish MS contacted them.

I still don't get what you are saying. Microsoft can give back rights to the developer, but Microsoft can't sell them the rights?

Why would they?

You said 'buy them back' which implies remedy sold them to MS which isn't the case

Make more money to grow the IP all for themselves.
That's cool you have faith, but that's assuming a niche next gen IP is worth the lengthy financial risk involved. You might not realize this, but most games don't make a profit. As a publisher, it's all about managing that portfolio.

Remedy couldn't even find a publisher for the much more valuable AW sequel. What would they do with Quantum Break?

Remedy are grand and all, but I can't help but look at Quantum Break as anything other than Nouveau riche.

And each time they have a new game, it kind of applies to that title too.

Their budgets go up, and instead of looking at the gaming climate, or using industry standard tools, they're rather insular, and plow on ahead with their own lofty goals.

And that comes with good, and bad.

The characters always feel clunky, there are issues with all of their engines that could have been avoided, and other companies probably could have done something similar for a fraction of the cost...

But they Do tend to capture a certain element, that make their games, something that you'll come back to in 10 years and play again. A developers mindset tends to focus on finishing something and moving onto the next improvement, or upgrade, or redfining something. Art, even if its sloppy, is timeless.
