Coming at launch (free for PS+ subscribers), this beautiful 1080p/60fps Housemarque (Super Stardust HD, Dead Nation) arcade shooter is easily my second most looked forward to PS4 exclusive behind Killzone.

You should be excited for it too. Why? This is why:

RESOGUN™ is an intense fast-paced shoot em' up developed exclusively for the PS4™ system. Unleash a diverse array of devastating weapons including lasers, missiles, overdrive, and nova-bombs to blast hordes of enemies and rescue the last survivors from distant galactic colonies that are under ruthless attack from an evil alien invasion force.

Yeah I'm pretty excited it is free at launch because I would have bought it regardless. Not sure what they're going to put up in December.

I'm pretty excited. I loved super stardust. I just hated the fact I couldn't get 100 percent on it. Only one trophy away.

I slept on this game initially but after looking into it I'm pretty excited for it. It looks so trippy with all those effects on screen. I just hope there are no problems downloading this because millions will be doing so on the 15th.

Yeah, literally every person who buys a PS4 at launch will be able to, since the system is shipping with 2 weeks free PS+ cards! I wonder how a dev gets comped by Sony for that sort of release strategy. Hopefully they were paid well, game looks awesome. I would be buying it day one even if it weren't free!

From what I understand - developers/publishers negotiate PS Plus contracts with Sony on a case-by-case basis. Some publishers are happy with getting a bigger DLC market and extra exposure - and others get a one time fee. There are probably other arrangements aswell.
They have to sign a non-disclosure agreement about the deal tough, so noone knows for sure what all the various parties get.
But most likely Rockstar get's better compensation for free Red Dead, than someone making a much smaller title free.

As I don't plan to get a PS4 at launch, does anybody know if these will be offered on PSN+ on the PS3, so that I can purchase them before I get a PS4? Same way you can get Vita games even if you don't own one yet.

I don't see why not. you can already preorder ps4 games using the ps3, so I don't see why you wouldn't be able to add ps4 games to your download list just like with vita games.

Anyone else still loving this game? I'll play at least a single level or two virtually every time I turn my PS4 on. Working on getting all of the "save all humans" trophies lately. Such a fun game.

I still love it. It's fun to play mindlessly initially and then dig deeper to understand the strategy to maximize your multiplier. I still can't fathom accomplishing those top scores...

Yeah, I've actually only even achieved the max 15x multiplier once, and think I only maintained it for a minute or less.

The game has a ton of depth, but as you said, you can play it mindlessly without any concern for the finer aspects if that's what you want. I love how the harder difficulties are actually fun and feel drastically different, they aren't just the same things with more hit points.
