Rumor: New Fable, 3rd person Perfect Dark, Forza Horizon 4 in Japan, MechAssault

Forza Horizon Japan huh? Should make for some beautiful tracks but I'm not a fan of another game of traffic driving on left.

I’d honestly love to see Japan as the main stage for the next iteration. They’d need to add more classic American cars though. Because of Instagram my eyes have been opened to the American car scene in Japan and its huge, mostly those of the old school with mooneyes, deadend mag and lowrider communities. It’s just mesmerizing seeing seeing west coast style cars with a Japanese backdrop and aesthetics. Who knew they’d work in such harmony.

Look up 3la (her older stuff in particular), rs31sugi, benduza or toshi432 on ig

*edit*

Totally agree with ya on driving on the opposite side, but I guess it balances out since the first two we drove on the proper side *cough*liketherestoftheworlddoesandshould*cough*

Well, PG did say they are making an open world RPG.

Then again, rumour makers will take any news and turn it into a believable correlation.

We need Shinobi or ntkrnl to confirm!

PD is an underrated series. Hell most of Rares Xbox games are especially Kameo. Now that's something MS should go back to.

Also Viva Pinata is bloody awesome.

I'd love a new Kameo, first one was one of my favorite MS exclusives last gen even with all of it's flaws. It just had a charm about it, something that so many of MS's other 1st party games (other than fable) seem to lack.

I don't want to get my hopes up but PG making a new fable does seem to make sense. They're from Briton. They have experience making an open world. They're already sharing tech with Microsoft. And don't quote me on this but I hear they like to chase chickens.

Classic charm that is rarely seen...but Rare is the one to have it most of all brands under the MS wing.

I’d be ok if Rare made a new platformer that’s a total clone of Mario Odyssey, replacing Mario with a chibi Master Chief, then Princess Peach with Cortona and all the baddies be the flood or covenant.

Perfect Dark honestly always seemed like british deus ex to me. Spy agency, lots of gadgets, s***ty voice acting. Take everything superficial about perfect dark and give it deus ex 1's (or the modern games) gameplay, and I'd be all over that.

So basically I want them to make Deus Dark Perfect Ex. I don't think the platform needs another pure FPS with some gadgets tossed around, but an 0451 Deu-sexy rip off, not many like that out there.

Kameo 2 looked like a mashup of Kameo, Assassin creed and Prince of Persia

Phil said at E3 they were still working on Gears.

At neogaf in 2014 some guy (i think his name was Xun) said Rares next game would be about Pirates (which ended up true) and after that, Battletoads.

But it's GAF so not trustworthy.

Maybe this Coalition / Storylab collab could be related to that rumor about a new IP off The Dark Tide short story?

You can't trust people who have a surname that sounds like a first name.

They're too greedy, gobbling up names like that.

i'd love a new Fable, Perfect Dark and MechAssault, but if true, these are years away.

Imo

Electric Square is working on Perfect Dark and repurposing Shangheist assets (hence Coallition involvement)
Rare will make Battletoads after SoT (ormaybe have been making it for some time)
Fable IV is coming September 2019
Mechassault would be a persistant wargame made by IDK

A new Fable would be cool. I'd be interested in that. Despite their shlockiness, I always enjoyed the Fable games. They were like cotton candy RPGs.

I wonder if they'll make it "mature." I'd have mixed feelings about that, depending on how it turned out, and what their vision of "mature" was. I enjoyed the lighthearted tone of Fable.

Battletoads wouldn't really need to be a AAA title so you shouldn't really need the full might of Rare

Well, there is sex in Fable :)

Yeah I’ve heard the Battletoads rumor from other sources. I talked to a guy that said he had seen it up and running a few years ago and that it looked amazing even then. But since then, nothing...although Phil did wear the shirt onstage within the last year or so, so maybe that was another hint.

Edit: I forgot MS re-filed the BT trademark a couple years ago.

There was a rumor Ruffian games was developing it.

And there was this ‘leak’ about the MS E3 2014 show that never came to pass:

  • Rare is prepping a re-boot of Battletoads and Perfect Dark. BT will initially be a download only title (see Killer Instinct) and is set to run at 60fps. Perfect Dark is looking to be rebooted into a Third Person Adventure game - Similar to Uncharted.

I wrote that.

A perfect fable to me would be something that took place around the same time frame of the original, smoothed out the gameplay a bit, make it truly open world instead of trails leading to hubs, keep the dog as a pet and this is a small one but make the balverines look more like werewolves the way they did in the first one :)

The tentpoles of Perfect Dark are...

1. Mature Sci Fi

2. Interesting weapons

3. Multiplayer

Nothing about "3rd person adventure" would rule out the first two, and the third is a sure bet in today's climate, particularly with MS. I bet it will be another open-world multiplayer shooter, with a SP mode attached as a hook.
