Dark Souls 3 will reportedly release on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in 2016, with a PC version that is still being "negotiated.

Dark Souls 3 will reportedly release on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in 2016, with a PC version that is still being "negotiated."Rooster Teeth's show The Know claims to have obtained screenshots and details of From Software's next game int he beloved series.

According to the leak, the game will support 1-4 players, although whether that's in a co-op or PvP sense remains to be seen. When you build your character at the start of the game, you'll have the option to choose one of 10 different character classes.

On the monster front, Rooster Teeth claims that Dark Souls 3 will contain 45 new enemies and 15 new bosses, with a note that this number doesn't include characters and monsters that have appeared in previous Souls games. In order to combat these creatures, the leak also states that there will be 100 new weapons and 40 new armor sets to deck out your character with. Alongside this are reportedly 60 minutes of mostly in-engine cutscenes, which is a number far higher than previous From Software games.

The Know also claims that Dark Souls 3 will house about 12 different areas, totaling up an amount of content similar to the original Dark Souls. As these navigate the world, the way you interact with other players online will reportedly be different. Instead of soapstones and signs, Dark Souls 3 will have you participating in sacrifice ceremonies, which have you dragging around bodies to specific areas, performing a ritual, and visiting another person's game.

The final big details in the reported leak deal with the bosses in Dark Souls 3. Boss battles will have a new "heat up" factor that changes the way you approach an encounter. An example given includes a fight against an enemy who can either come at you as a standard-looking knight, or a nightmarish creature reminiscent of something from Bloodborne. Finally, Rooster Teeth claims that Dark Souls 3 will receive its full reveal later this month at E3 2015, which goes along with a story we reported on earlier this week.

I have doubts, to say the least.

I'd love it but just seems unlikely.

edit: and literally seconds after saying this, I saw "Dark souls 3 leaked screenshots"
so...maybe the previous statement is withdrawn
 
Pretty substantial rumour. Hopefully they are on the money and it will be shown at e3.

I really liked the direction DS2 went in. I am hoping they can mesh the best of DS1, DS2 and BB into an excellent sequel.

Meh. I'll probably stop buying this franchise until they do something different with a better engine. It's really getting old now.

Good luck waiting on that. Their current engine is already pushing consoles to their limits.

Not sure why. The game technically isn't doing very much at all. Perhaps it's the poly counts that's taxing the consoles. Or that engine is simply old-school and needs to be optimized for current gen. DS was made with last gen in mind.
 
I'd say not optimized, there's tons of games that do more and look better than DS2.

Look a lot better.

The engine is vastly improved over the other one. Game is GORGEOUS and plays like Souls game but different enough at the same time to be its own thing. He never even played Bloodborne but makes opinions on it.
Anyway on point it does do new things in gameplay and visuals.

I just made my comment based on that part of his post that you quoted.

I agree that it looks superior to DS1&2. He even said it as well.

Also not every game needs dynamic lighting. So I'm not bashing it. Just stating a fact.
 
I just hope DS3 gives us a new way to play. Like what BB did with its guns.
 
Grabs, it's already like a 3d fighter.

Dark souls with grabs - 11/10 like skyrim with grabs
