It’s time to say goodbye to the Zune Marketplace for its end is drawing near. In a press release Microsoft announced that the Zune Marketplace will no longer offer its rental, purchase or browsing services ”as early as” November 22, which is the same day the Xbox One launches. If you are a Zune user, your library will be displayed as a virtual collection. Purchased Zune video content will transfer over to Xbox Video. For those with remaining Microsoft Points, they can be converted to your local currency by purchasing content or redeemable for Microsft Points code.

Despite this being the end Zune of Marketplace, the Zune hardware will remain usable. Owners of Zune hardware will still be able to enjoy playback of previously-purchased content from their personal collection on their devices.

I never got any ipod or zune, but in my experience of seeing friends use both, I can say that Zune seemed like a superior product. That thing was built to last where everybody I've ever known to own an iPod has had it end up broken in a much quicker timeframe, either never bothering to replace and buying a cheap MP3 player from a Walgreens or replacing it on numerous occasions. Shame it got lots of hate, never really saw the problem. Played music, ultimately could do other stuff with newer versions, etc.

Coworker of mine had the Zune. We busted his balls for months when we found he packed it with the most insane pr0n imaginable. You never really know somebody till you know what they beat the bishop off to.

*Technical Point* I must say the pr0n did look aaaaaamazing on the Zune though.

Those 2 users will be sad. The XBox movie/music service is very good.
You do know that Zune Music is Xbox Music, right? So that would pretty much mean you are saying Xbox Music only has two users and is a service that is just plain irrelevant.

I know but they have improved it a lot. Plus its free to people with Windows 8 so I've been using it a lot for music recently.

i still use my zune hd on a daily basis. it works as perfect as the first day i got it.

i use my zune software too. but its been years since i bought music on it. as long as i can still synch it and it downloads podcasts we are good.

I still use the Zune Marketplace. I've been clinging to my 10 free downloads per month. I wonder if that will continue to be grandfathered in.

I'm still using the Zune software to navigate and edit my music. I have a Zune 120GB player but I rarely use it any more and just dump albums onto and off my smartphone, though I would bring it with me on a vacation for example where I'd want a larger library on me.

If it were to stop functioning as a basic music library program I'm not sure what I'd use so hopefully it keeps working the way it does.

The program won't stop working, you just won't be able to get your music or movies through it. Which matters little, downloaded through Music or Video, utilize the Zune program. YAY
