50 dead in Orlando nightclub terrorism attack, state of emergency declared

one gunman armed with a pistol and an assault rifle killed 50 people and injured 53 more at a gay Orlando nightclub early Sunday morning in one of the deadliest mass shootings in American history.

Federal and local authorities are investigating the massacre as a possible terrorist attack and say the gunman may have ties to extremist Islamic ideologies. The man, whom officials have identified as 29-year-old Omar Mateen of Port St. Lucie, was killed after a shootout with Orlando police.

Police Chief John Mina said Mateen fired the first shot about 2:02 a.m. at an Orlando police officer and then ran into the club, which held more than 200 people. Details about exactly what happened inside the club were unclear, but police said it became a hostage situation.

By 5:00 a.m., the police department's SWAT team opened fire, and when officers went inside, they discovered 50 dead, including Mateen, and 53 injured.

As i head out of town for the week this is what i wake up to, some dumbasas from a certain religion of terror has followed their book that calls for them to kill those who do not believe as they do. But don't worry this will be made a gun issue, but i'm sure facts will show that the guy passed the background checks or bought them via some illegal means...

Biggest mass murder in US history since 9/11 (done by the same folks)

see you next week.

Of course this won't be made into a gun issue. Nobody cared when 20 children were shot in school. Nobody will care about gay people getting shot.

The father is apologizing for his son's actions (can't imagine what any parent would do in that moment), and says that the murder spree was not religious in nature, but part of a strong and irrational hatred towards gays. My money is on it being a mixture of mental health issues (strong homophobia it seems) and using his religion to justify the violence.

It is tempting to think this is partly from a Mental Disorder. Sometime people see the world in a certain way that makes sense to them and they flipout when they see other people embrace views or behaviors that are the complete opposite.

I think there is also an unreasonable fear of a "Slippery Slope" of change that some people like this have.

Looks like some reports are trying to say he was on an fbi watch list due to family ties and that his views had been extreme lately. Looks like his dad didn't know him so well
.

Also read that while he and his son were out they saw two dudes kissing, later they saw two guys kissing and grinding and that sent him off the deep end.

Hope to find some more info before im out of cell coverage...

So sad, people just going out to have fun as is their right and some crazy a****** comes in and decides it's up to him to end their lives because he doesn't "like" how they love. Crazy people and crazy religions (which they all are IMO) don't mix well. No religion is a religion of peace as far as I'm aware, they all have preached violence at some point or had violence committed in their name. That's not to say that I think they are all equal, Islam is the main threat to sane people these days, it may not be PC to say that but it's true. How the hell can you reason with people who think the terrible things they do are supported by "god"? you can't win that argument.

OMAR MATEEN = Registered Democrat .

While this guy was home grown I hear only 1-3 percent of the Unvettable Syrian refugees Obama has brought into the U.S. will be radical or become radicalized. So that's not too bad.

Too long we allow hate preachers to preach hatred & turned away in order not to be labelled racist. This type of preachers have big platform in Islamic world.

Not sure if related to the shooting, but these people need to be locked up.

I see from different Intel he had pledged allegiance to iSIS and they have claimed responsibility as well. so much for that mental disorder.

And it shouldn't be. Drunk driving isn't a car issue. Rape isn't a short skirt issue. I hope you're being sarcastic otherwise it's an ignorant statement.

Suspect known to FBI: The FBI first became aware of Mateen in 2013 after he made "inflammatory comments" to coworkers, Hopper said. The FBI "thoroughly investigated" the situation, Hopper said, including interviewing witnesses and conducting surveillance. Mateen was interviewed twice, but the FBI was unable to verify the substance of the comments and the case was closed. Hopper did not elaborate on what the comments were that concerned Mateen's co-workers.

In 2014, Mateen again came to the FBI's attention because of an association with Moner Mohammad Abusalha, an American who grew up in Florida and carried out a suicide bombing attack in Syria that year. But the FBI determined that the contact was minimal and the case was closed, Hopper said.

Yep, he was able to buy guns just like people on the suspected terrorist no fly lists are. I get the controversy there because if you haven't been convicted of a crime how are your rights supposed to be taken away but still if they won't allow you on a plane or if they are watching you because they think you have links to terrorism it may be worth telling those few people you can't legally buy a gun. If nothing else it makes it harder for them to buy a gun and when they do get one and use it it's another charge that can be added when trying to prosecute them.

The religion itself is not one of violence. There are people who have perverted it into their own agenda that are violent. It's just like people who bomb abortion clinics are not following the words of Christ.

And more importantly, the fact is people were killed. Show enough respect for humanity to post the story because you care about people being killed, not because it's another point in the "Muslims are evil, mmkay!" narrative or because it's a talking point against the gun control movement. In the end, it doesn't matter what color flesh they're surrounded by or what flag flies in their homeland or what deity they pray or pretend to pray to, a******s are a******s and this is not the time to stick your finger in to see which variety of a****** it was.

please....do stop it. I can rattle off a list of criminal acts done by Christians in this country, and no one blames "christianity" for it.

Thank you. This act was committed by a lunatic with an axe to grind against homosexuals. He's politicizing this to fit his narrative...while preemptively attacking those that will no doubt attempt to spin this to fit their narrative....go figure.
