I don't like this part:

"They tried to silence me by offering $20,000 if I signed a letter agreeing to the termination as well as to not discuss it with anyone."

Sony HR/legal, trying to cover it up. Not a good look. But natural business practice, I'm afraid.

They need to fire him, now. I don't even know what Sony/ND did with him. Scolded him? Put a letter in his file?

I hope they fire him, and I hope the victim sues. This sh1t should not be tolerated.

It's kind of weird that it's happening at ND, who seem so progressive.

But I guess this happens in all big businesses.

For the Players. Indeed.

Kind of funny how everyone is focusing on the entertainment industry with this stuff when it has always been going on at every type of business. In the 70's my mom was a waitress and got fired because during her evaluation her boss put his hand on her knee and started running it up her thigh, she grabbed his hand and said "what are you doing" he said "just checking" and she said "don't worry it's all there" and she punched him in the face. My mom isn't the type of woman you mess with that way, she had 5 kids to support and still punched the f***er lol.

Can one not narrow down who the lead environmental artist is by looking at the credits to which game was released after 2015?

Just says 'lead'. Amy Hennig 'left' in 2014. The project leads at the time were Neil Druckmann and Bruce Straley according to Blood, Sweat and Pixels.

I don't like it either but I wonder if they really looked into it all that much or thought he was just looking for a check so they fired him and offered him money because it's cheaper than going through a legal battle. I know a lot of business do that when someone files racism claims against them. The hospital I used to work for did that, we had a few employees who were just awful but happened to be minorities, when they got fired (all at different times) they filed lawsuits saying they were terminated because of race, the hospital automatically settled with them, they basically got $30K because the hospital thought it was cheaper than going through the trouble of a court case. Sadly those people were all awful employees and there was no merit to their cases whatsoever, I hate that because crying wolf like that makes it harder to be taken seriously when you truly are being discriminated against or harassed.

I would like to hear the other side of this though, not sure I'd believe the "defense" if there is one but it's better to hear what both sides say in all cases rather than just believe what someone comes up with. You would think he would have filed a lawsuit had this happened, maybe he did and just didn't mention it but if what he says is true he should have had a pretty strong case.

Maybe this is near-sighted and/or ignorant of me, but if the accuser is a straight male, I’m guessing he probably wouldn’t have had this type of reaction if the person in question is female..? Unless his job was being threatened...?

So I’m assuming the accused is another dude.

Again, my assumption, and yes, I realize a straight male can be sexually harassed by a female. I’d just wager it was dude-to-dude, kinda like what Terry Crews was recently talking about happening to him.

Hope he just spills the beans on who it was....I don't wanna wait for a kotaku investigation.

I'm not sure that'd be a wise idea unless he has some evidence to back up his claim.

The Crews thing was strange, the guy as far as I know wasn't his boss and didn't have any say in his employment so I don't know that I'd call that sexual harassment in the sense that most people mean it, that's more like sexual assault.

Harassment is only really harassment if its unwanted attention, if Gal Gadot and Alice Eve wanted me to be a judge in a **** sucking contest, i wouldnt feel harassed. But if Ben Affleck and Chris Pine asked me the same it would be unwanted (id only swing that way for no less then Jean Luc Picard)..and Bens already in trouble

Yes, the perp is a dude. Accused is a dude, too. We don't know if said dude is gay. We can assume the perp is.

Perp.

Has nothing to do with being "progressive". It's not like "conservatives" are ok with it, either. s***heads reside everywhere.

Hell, Hollywood is as "progressive" (and virtue signal-y) as it gets, and it's rife with it. Let's not forget 'ol Billy C or Weiner, either. Sorry, don't want to get too ideological, but I can't let that implication slide.

No, I was just saying it was ironic.

It is always important to get all the facts before siding with anyone, imo, even if we want to be compassionate. False claims are a sad reality, and as you say, it harms the effort of helping true victims.

Please god...

Don't let any of my employees learn to read/know what sexual harassment is.

I wonder why he didn't just take the money, if he wasn't interested in pursuing legal action?

Victims tolerate it. If they don't care enough to do anything about it then why should anyone else give a s***.

Good old victim blaming. If this persons story is true its the exact reason many don't speak up. He got fired.

How does Harvey Weinstein get away with it for so long? Because the victims don't want to give up their careers.

Naughty Dog's response

We have recently read on social media that an ex-employee of Naughty Dog, Dave Ballard, claims he was sexually harassed when he worked at Naughty Dog. We have not found any evidence of having received allegations from Mr. Ballard that he was harassed in any way at Naughty Dog or Sony Interactive Entertainment. Harassment and inappropriate conduct have no place at Naughty Dog and Sony Interactive Entertainment. We have taken and always will take reports of sexual harassment and other workplace grievances very seriously. We value every single person who works at Naughty Dog and Sony interactive Entertainment. It is of utmost importance to us that we maintain a safe, productive workplace environment that allows us all to channel our shared passion for making games.

So either he lied or they have just opened up a s*** storm for themselves if he has proof.
