Shadow of the Tomb Raider

As I play further, I can see start to see chinks in the armor. The jungle theme is well, but because of it, there is a lack of variety in landscape & also to claustrophobic & so far not many wide open area exploration areas like the last 2 games. All area I been to so far has some pathing. Hope it gets better though.

Opposites attract 😍

Well don't fall in love because I couldn't even be bothered to finish the game, sent it back. Couldn't even tell ya where I was at in the story, I think
the queen of paititi had just been killed
or something...

You were getting there

Already 20 bucks cheaper this week,digitally...tempted but first I will check if retail does the same this week.

Spend like 2 days at the hidden city collecting collectables and stil only 35% etc. So I decided to move on the story.

Yeah, I dunno, this game just wasn't doin' it for me. I remember liking the first 2 games, this one though just never felt right. I thought the combat gameplay felt off and there wasn't enough added to the navigational moveset. I'll have to find something else to kill the time til RDR2 comes out.

I'm liking it less and less as I go. I'm right near the end, but I'm taking my time going through all of the tombs and finding as much stuff as I can before finishing it. The skill trees are generic and pointless compared to the last game. The outfits aren't interesting. The weapons and upgrading them seems pointless with not much to use them on. I still like it and it's better than most if the games I've played this year, but it's pretty lacking compared to the last game. Even the puzzles are worse than the previous game.

Felt the exact same way. Closer I got to the end the more I became disenchanted with the game. I mean it was fun and I loved the graphics, but can’t say if it’s better than Rise or not anymore

I have no idea why none of the outfits except for the leather coat from the previous games unlocked for me. I still have both game saves and even the games installed on my PS4.

Xbox cant read PS4 saves bro

i mean i am assuming you bought it on masterrace Box, cause why wouldnt you

Horizon 4 has taken me away from this plus I went a bit TR overboard replaying the first 2 just before release so I'll get back to it in a couple weeks

The game is picking up the pace as the game process. I am enjoying it more now as the urgency intensified.

I think it looks better overall, color seems richer, but not day & night.

I don't like the crappy outfits and not having the originals to use. :txbmad:

The outfits in shadow are weak sauce compared to the ones in rise. Lucky, I still have access to rised outfits in the game.

FInish the game, at about 94% completion. I give the game a 8.5/10.

Plus+
Beefy content
Amazing visuals
Lara
Interesting Tombs & decent exploration
The final stage is pretty jaw-dropping.
New 'Orc" enemies are interesting & make you shiver (at least me) n anticipation.
Weapons as per last 2 games are cool. Pity not much chance to exploit all of them due to lack of enemies.

Minus-
A poor story that lacks any urgency, & pacing, even at the end.
Not feeling conclusive to the Trinity storyline
Poor antagonist.
Not enough grand levels. The jungle makes the open areas restrictive, compared to the more open ones in the last 2 games.
No enough enemies, given so much of the skill are combat base. A missed chance not to have more wild animals as enemies in the wild. Anaconda or crocodiles would be amazing.
Boring costumes. The Patiti ones are cool, but I like regular outfits as well. Where is classic outfit?.

The Forge DLC is out for those that have the season pass. It's fairly short, give & take 1 hour depends on how stucky you are.

It is decent as a 1/7 challenge tomb package. There is a complete quest style & dialog & some exploration not just a tomb. Also include a forgettable outfit & new grenade rounds, which sadly did not see any action as the DLC doesn't have much combat.

I'm over halfway through now. It's a good game. I'm liking it better than Rise of the Tomb Raider. There is a lot more emphasis on stealth, which is an improvement over RoTR's heavy emphasis on combat. It's a very dark game visually, and although I had my doubts about that, it's a nice change of pace for Tomb Raider. I'm also playing it differently than RoTR, taking more time to do the challenge tombs and side content. I also appreciate that they give you separate difficulty settings for combat, exploration, and puzzles. I've got puzzle difficulty set to easy, because although I enjoy the puzzles, I don't like getting stuck on them for too long.

I don't have any major complaints, but in terms of negatives, I'd say the story is gobbledygook, although that wasn't a surprise, and the side missions have been hit or miss, a bit glitchy at times.
