So this is what it is like to have a computer with more than 4GB of RAM?

I have been using the first generation of MacBook Airs for half a decade now. I really love the machine and will continue to use it on an almost regular basis. It still works, albeit a bit slowly. It can run all of the newest macOs iterations on it, too.

However, about two weeks ago, I decided to make a purchase that I was considering for some time. I went to Best Buy and spent about two hours tinkering with a few laptops. I narrowed my choices down to a 13 inch MacBook Pro, a 15 inch MacBook Pro, and a 13 inch Dell XPS.

I thought all of the computers were fantastic but there was something about the 15 inch that I couldn't step away from. They keyboard on the new MacBooks is so smooth. I type so much faster now and I love that I barely need to press down on the Trackpad to register a click. It's truly awesome.

So, I decided to make the plunge. I was saving for the better part of a couple of years. I grabbed myself a 15 inch MacBook Pro with the TouchBar. I have always been a bit of an Apple guy and I was even impressed with the XPS. The screen was gorgeous.

But, finally! I have a reasonably powerful machine. It is so nice to be running an i7 and 16 GB of memory.

I have been an aspiring developer and last year when I wanted to put an emulator on my Air, I felt like I was going to brick the machine.

I am just so happy that I made the plunge.

This is my third Mac, actually. I have been using them since early high school.

Just wanted to share. Very excited :)

Unless you updated that original Air I'd say the SSD in the new Pro is a lot nicer than the RAM. I put an SSD in my computer I built in 2010 and it made it like new.

Yeah, the SSD is really nice. I have a pretty modest setup right now. I use my MacBook Pro with an external monitor, keyboard, and mouse. I am going to upgrade my display in the coming months. I might have my family donate money towards it for the holidays.
