I'm looking at the X900E right now, 65", for $1799, after seeing it was DF's pick. I almost bought it, but I held off. I need to look at other TVs and wait to see if there are any Black Friday deals.

edit: changed my mind, bought it. Tried to buy it at BB but they were out of stock, so I went with amazon.

That's a good set.

Congrats I can help with you different settings if need be as I own the big brother.

Thanks. There's a GAF thread, where they have recommended settings posted in the OP. I was just going to go by that.

I tried to order on Best Buy, but they were out of stock. So ended up ordering on amazon.

Digital Foundry, IGN, and rtings all gave this set their top rating. I was going to wait until next year, but wth.

p.s. Here's that GAF thread, with their settings:

f00k the gaf thread! My settings are better :tounge:

It's the TV I've looked at before if I didn't get an OLED. Don't plan on buying a TV for a while now though so we'll see. Maybe a good deal once next year's version comes out.

its the tv im looking at too.

i can get 65" x900E or 55"C Oled around same price. Decisions.

Yeah same here(55 inch)...I will wait until the Black Friday stuff(yeah we do this also in Canada lol, even though our TG was in October)...since I got the Pro its been tempting me a lot and now with the X...damn...

Grats on the set Andy.

I think for the location a 65" would be too big for me. Really wish they offered a 60" as that would work. Would probably end up going 55" myself which would make the OLED more affordable for me.

I chickened out and cancelled the amazon order. I've never ordered something that big from amazon before, and I got a little apprehensive (e.g., what if there are problems with the set? what if I have to return it? wouldn't it be easier to have some guys set it up for me? etc.). I'm more comfortable ordering from the local Best Buy. It means waiting a while, because they're out of stock, but that's okay. No rush.

I thought at one time Amazon had a pretty good delivery option?

No idea. I think part of why I cancelled was just the unknown. Whereas, I know what I'm getting at Best Buy.

I need to take a trip down there, put in an order...

If it ships and sold by amazon you are golden.
If the weather is cold outside wait one hour or more to plug in the TV.
If theirs a problem... call them and they will come out and get the set.. the better of a talker you are the faster this all happens.

I deal with Chris from https://www.clevelandplasma.com/
You can call in a order 1866 651 0049 and hes charging 1700 for the 65.

When I got my 75Z9D it was 8999.99 plus tax and 500 for warranty
I got it from him for around 7800 but this included the warranty and shipping.

I just put in the order at my local Best Buy. Same price, with delivery one day earlier than amazon. All is well.

So, Val, you've got the $8000 version of this set?

What extra bells and whistles did you get?
Over 800 zones
10 more inches
3D
1840 nits
Better motion and lower input lag in 4K/HDR
Support for all the major HDR formats HDR 10,HLG,Technicolor and Dolby Vision(via long ass wait fw update)
14 Bit Color processing

EDIT: If I bought a set today id consider saving some money and get the lower priced...
XBR75X940E
https://www.bestbuy.com/site/sony-7...th-high-dynamic-range/5714425.p?skuId=5714425

But not sure how I would feel about lower brightness, far less zones and no 3D as I have a large collection of movies.

Yeah, that's a nice upgrade. 75 inches. More nits. 2K is all I'm willing to spend, though.

I'm assuming I'm getting good HDR with my set. Are you happy with the HDR on yours?

OLED is the better TV, I went with a 55” OLED last year and don’t regret it. Blows LED sets away. They also have Dolby Vision out of the box, don’t have to wait years for a firmware upgrade.

OLED sets are nice, no doubt. I liked what I heard at DF about the Sony X900E set, though. That sold me.

Did I mention I put my order in for this TV? Wooo! It's coming next week.
