Whelp, it looks like my month old PS4 is already dying. The thing won't turn on after being off for a long time. It takes me like 50 tries to get it going.

The weird thing is once I do get it on it seems fine. I can game for hours and it is great.

My question is, how does replacing the hard drive impact the warranty? I already put in a new drive a few weeks ago. Anyone have experience with their support? Should I put the old drive back in there just to verify that it isn't it?

Another thing, I did make a change, I plugged in a USB hub the other day. Might be the issue. That's when I started having issues.

I'm worried about mine. It's been loud for awhile now and last night when i went to turn my PS4 off it just froze up. I had to hold the power button down. Luckily i didn't have to resort to unplugging the cord which can cause save data to corrupt.

Yeah I wish I knew if it was dying or not. I played all afternoon and not one issue. Actually other than having trouble powering on, I've had zero issues. I have had no problems once the power gets on. It isn't overheating yet, that's for sure. My basement office is still freezing cold.

Is it turning off immediately after turning it on, not turning on at all when attempting to... what's it doing exactly?

I try turning on with a controller, it beeps once, turns blue for a moment and then nothing. I try the power button, same deal. If I hold the power button in, I can get into safe mode (I don't want to re-initialize everything if I can avoid it, that means like 100gb plus of downloads).

However if I just keep doing it, it turns on eventually and is fine. No problems playing, no crashing, etc.

Actually since I re-seeded the hard drive and unplugged my USB hub, things have been fine. I'm guessing maybe it didn't like the new hub. Hopefully that's all it is. You'd think if there were a more serious problem it would show up when playing.

It's a good possibility. I've read elsewhere of all sorts of booting issues due to upgraded hard drives or external drives connected.

so hows she working now Kerosene31 ?

All seems fine now. Ever since I stopped using the USB hub, I have not had one issue.

No keyboard for me on the PS4, but no big deal. I'm just glad hopefully I don't have to send it back. I'm getting Overwatch next week and of course already got the PS4 version.
