Spider-Man

And the only thing that actually matters which is Microsoft was the publisher and it was up to them

If it sold 10 million copies and every goty award it still wouldn't be on PS4
If it did do well it would likely be released on the PS and MS would publish it or did you not get the memo about MS future gaming plans?

Wtf is with the off-topic trolling tonight?

The subject of the thread is Spider-Man. Let's everyone take their Adderall and focus, please.

Never heard of Adderall. Huh.

Amphetamine and dextroamphetamine are central nervous system stimulants that affect chemicals in the brain and nerves that contribute to hyperactivity and impulse control. Adderall is used to treat narcolepsy and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.

Probably not available at the local 7-11 I assume.

I should've said Ritalin, maybe. Yeah, not available at 7-11. Maybe available from the scruffy looking guy hanging out near the 7-11, though.

Is that why I can play Halo 5 on PS4?

I can play my copy of halo 5 on my PS4 and pc, just like I can with the last of us on Xbox, but it won’t get past the screen where it stares it’s not a compatible/recognized disk....it’s a start though, cross pollination ya know

But Spider-Man doesn't kill anyone.

They never really said “why” or go into detail. Had they said something along the lines as Sony having bought the exclusive to it or it’s partnof some deal that ties it to their movie rights. But who knows maybe there’ll be a Spider-Man game eventually on other platforms and pc, just not this one, maybe.

Common sense says its not coming because Sony owns Spiderman.

Sony is just in a licensing agreement to make this game and a animated feature, they don't own Spiderman. The only thing Sony owns is the rights to make live action movies like their Venom spin-off with Tom Hardy set to release soon. That is why Marvel had to strike a deal with them to have Spiderman be a part of the MCU.

It's pretty clear that Sony is fully financing the development of this game and publishing it and that means it is always going to be an exclusive title to PS4/Pro. That doesn't mean there will never be a Spider-Man game on the Xbox in the future it just won't be this one or any variation of it. Sony and Marvel clearly have some kind of deal for this game, it could be part of the deal that brought Spider-Man to the MCU and if so it was a great idea by whoever brought it up.

This game will never be on Xbox. Its pretty obvious a stipulation was put in place to secure this on Playstation. I was just trying to correct the assumption that Sony owns Spiderman, which they don't. The way I understand it Marvel approached Sony for a Spiderman game after they made their movie deal. Sony then approached Insomniac who seems like a perfect fit and voila we have an awesome looking Spiderman game coming......And no Activision involvement, woohoo.

Sony is really killing it with their exclusives. God of War and this look amazing.

I remember the PS logo having a Spiderman font if I recall correctly. Seems like Sony loves Spider-man.

If they own the rights to live action Spiderman they own him.
If Disney owns the other rights they also own him.

Lol, no.

Sony didn't even have exclusivity to the games that were based off of their own movies!

Sony's movie exclusivity deal clearly did not even cover their own trademarked versions of the character for other media, such as games.

As I said a couple of pages back, they very likely leveraged exclusive or timed exclusive videogames rights in part of the exchange for lending a two picture (and two Avengers pictures) deal back to Marvel Studios.

Timed exclusive? Haha keep wishing.

Sony owns Spiderman and so does Disney its pretty simple.
You don't know if the deal is timed or not. Stop making up stuff that you don't know. Sony doesn't own Spider-Man and never will. Marvel does. Disney owns Marvel. It's pretty simple? Um, yeah, but you still don't understand. Sony owns the movie rights, but not the character... As the pictures I've just provided show, they don't even have rights to their own movie versions of Spider-Man in a game.

Just because Sony funded the game, it doesn't mean that they will own the rights to it in perpetuity. We didn't even know what the MCU deal was, so how can you claim to know? That's not how these things work. Microsoft funded Rise of the Tomb Raider, but it went multi after a year. Again, Sony does NOT own Spider-Man. To even suggest that is really ignorant.

Edit: And I admit, another console version is not exactly likely, since Sony is publishing the game, but it's not like we haven't seen multiple publishers for a single game either.
