I figure with the new contract EA has, it'd be good to have a spot to dump any news whenever it hits, of course there is essentially nothing. Yet.

So until we have a teaser for Republic Commando 2 ( ) I guess this'll do it for now. Just a place to talk star wars games, if indeed people want to talk.

"Battlefront"

Though most of the games I'd ever want have been wiped off the table thanks to biowares writing in the oh-so-worth-it mmo.
ah well, I'm a sucker and will probably buy whatevers released.

I'm more excited for nextgen Star Wars:Battlefront than I am Battlefield 4.
It's going to be F'in EPIC.

once I saw that EA got that deal I thought it was pretty obvious we were going to get battlefront. But they really need to make a sequel to republic commando.

Still playing SW: Jedi Knight Jedi Academy online, i dont think any Star Wars game is ever gonna to the Jedi Knight series.

I've been thinking about playing JKA Online or JK2 Single Player myself. JKA Online is a great past time. I wonder how the mod community and the clans are still doing today?

I'd really like to see them do something with 1313. I thought that game had some great potential and the videos were amazing... seems like it would be a waste to let that one go...

I'd be down with a Mass Effect style star wars game set in the new trilogy era. Should be a fertile setting that is close enough to the OT to stay very familiar and interesting.

I'm willing to bet that, while "cancelled," something is left of the game, a spark in someones eye. I doubt we've seen the last of it, I bet it'll come back in some form or another. Hell, make it a boba fett game instead and you have an immediate winner.

I replayed RC and beat it recently. I had an idea for a teaser if they ever did a sequel or remade it. Have a black screen, sorta smokey like skyrim loading screens only better, then a sort of silhouette appears in the dark, queue some sound effects; marching, (as clones do) distant blaster fire, then have the figure turn around and it's just this

only...much cooler looking, and the first word of the theme song plays.

yeah I'm kind of an incredibly lame nerd.

(edit: I kinda wanna make that my avatar..)

Those games annoy me. A lot of little things that, as a star wars jagoff, only affect me. Like Darth Vader using lightning. that s*** don't fly.

Plus it feels like you're hittin people with a glowing baseball bat, not a lightsaber. You could argue it's due to gameplay reasons, but at that point, why not just make jedi knight 4 instead of god of star wars and be done with it.

Though I'm just bitter that the $60 sequel took me a day to beat. star wars is my weakness.

I really like the subtle effects that lucasarts created within the Force Unleashed games. 1313 was going to maintain that style and now with EA taking over I feel that visual fidelity is going to be lost on further titles. I guess it doesn't matter anyways, since the entire universe is being retconned.

I doubt that the entire thing is just being restarted though, this is one continuous 'verse here, not a hellish mix up of stories like comic books tend to be.

But honestly, the last 6 years of star wars could do with a good retcon. The entirety of the old republic story after KOTOR 2 would be a good start.

also! the euphoria engine and DMM (what I figure is some of what you're talking about) has gotta still be in any future projects, they were great things, just used in mediocre games. It'd be quite a waste not to use them, though DMM's bendable girders could only take the industry so far.

I loved the first KOTOR games. I played them both on the 360 as backward compatible games and they were glitchy and a pain to chug through at times but I was hooked and enjoyed both games tremendously. I would love it if they gave us more of that type of game!

KOTOR isn't Retconned. Only the novels I have been absorbing for the past 15 years. And yes I am speaking of the effects with the Digital Molecular Matter. We shall see though, I will be picking up Battlefront though.. just because Dice did such a damn good job on Mirror's Edge that they deserve support.

I've been thinking about giving them a try since they go cheap now, but i havent been convinced yet, lots of people say its like God of War which im not a huge fan of.

Give us KOTOR 3, I still have a copy of KOTOR 2 have not played it in a long time. I need to find another copy of KOTOR 1 a friend borrowed it and never gave it back.

Dru, OT but you get an X1 and TF? Do it!

This thread reminded me of the Star Wars arcade games I used to play(badly)

Return Of The Jedi graphics aren't as good as I remember lol!

As much as I love Battlefront, after the recent fiasco with BF4 I don't want to go near another DICE game.

Really, I am like, what's with still not stabilizing the game (though I have been luckier than others). It's not even EA or Frostbite 3. Ghost Games went away with the engine in only a year. Popcap released a solid shooter with only a fraction of staffs. Something must be wrong with DICE and DICE only.

That said right now I am curious of Visceral's take on it, with a lucky talent grab and the company's finesse at combining gameplay and cinematics, that is the one to look forward to. Now if only Obsidian strikes a deal with EA to make Star Wars RPG...

(sigh) And to think those EA a******s shut down Pandemic. :smash:

Can you imagine an SW-themed Mercenaries?

Battlefront 3 is my most anticipated game of the generation. Going to be so epic. Once it comes out I probably won't play any other games for like a year.

I think a Star Wars RPG along the lines of fallout would be great, 3rd and 1st person. Obviously you could choose a class, commando, bounty hunter, sith, jedi and just have a blast with it. I would want graphics and animations like the division.

Pandemic brought themselves a demise and that was the common sense when they closed down. I mean EA allowed them another year to finish Mercenaries 2 and it was not good, The Saboteur also had to do better than that. Add to that The Dark Knight game adaptation and it is no wonder why Pandemic faded away. Visceral fills what Pandemic should have been as well.
