Valve's SteamVR headset has been blown wide open, ahead of its appearance at the Game Developers Conference next week. It's named Vive, HTC are making it (yes, HTC), and it boasts two 1200x1080 displays that refresh at 90 frames per second. This, according to HTC, allows the device to "[fill] your field of vision in all directions, eliminating the jitter common to previous VR technologies".

Dev kit in Spring, consumer version holiday 2015.

Sweet! More to come at GDC this week...

Let me know then you don't have to wear a bulky set of goggles on your face and then consider me in.

I'm willing to dedicate a room to this. The lighthouse tracking seems to be a game changer. Look forward to seeing what Oculus come up with as far as tracking and input is concerned.

The title of this thread is a bit funny to me now, since I know that every major VR display out there is actually manufactured by Samsung. Vive, Oculus, PSVR, Windows Mixed Reality. All of them. Freaking Samsung cornering the entire market! (I'm talking about the display screen only, not optics or form factor)

Notice that the new Windows Mixed Reality HMD from Samsung called the Samsung Odyssey has the exact same resolution and FOV as the Vive Pro! Hmm, I wonder what MS will reveal for Xbox at E3? I'll bet I at least have a really good guess on the resolution and FOV!
