Haven't watched it yet. Been binging Stranger Things mighty recommended.

In other news.....about voting/endorsing Trump.

"I've had a lot of people pound on me about you need to do this, you need to do this, this is about the party," Kasich said. "And I love my party, but I love my country. And I have to be true to myself. I wish that I could be fully enthusiastic. I can't be."
You have 2 -3 lines descriptions of stranger things? Its show up as trending on my Netflix Screen

That's not very descriptive of the show, but thanks.
I haven't seen it or really know much about it outside of it being 80's style, suspense/thriller, and supernatural. I saw a website talk about the resurgence of this type of show/movie and mentioned Super 8.

I bought a Roku that comes with a month trial of Netflix so once the Olympics are done and I have more time I'm going to check it out.

Better than Super 8.

If you grew up in the 80's, were a bit on the nerdy side (like me), and love a good sci-if yarn you'll love Stranger Things. It's all the best of Spielberg/King/Carpenter rolled up, with a totally awesome period synth soundtrack.

Watched season 1. I was 9 years old in '83, so it definitely resonates with me. I found a few things to be off by a year or two, but they nailed so much. Very cool. There are also a lot of Easter eggs in there. This was a very cool time in my life, and I share a lot of the influences. I really appreciate the Carpenter-esque music, too. The title screen itself is very well done. Word is that there will be a season 2, but they really can't go too far into the 80's and keep the same vibe, IMO.

83 was a good year. I was -2. I'm really interested in that soundtrack but I'll wait until I actually watch the show. Love me some synthwave.

Yeah the soundtrack is fantastic. It's right up there with the score that Trent reznor and Attica Ross for the Facebook movie. It reminds me of those old John Carpenter movies from the late 70s and early 80s.

I agree with all of what you said too. I was 7 myself in 83 . It definitely brought back memories for me as well . The bikes , the forts , everything . I guess that's why i was so stoked to see an 80s theme series . They nailed it .

Loved it!
Did you like Super 8 though?
It kind of reminds me of Midnight Special too.

Loved it. Heaps of critics have said that Winona over acted the series, but I thought she was great.

If you've seen her interviews circa 2000, she's positively calm by comparison.

Initially thought the relationship with the cop dude was forced, but rounded out towards the end.

And kudos to those children actors! The hours that go into a TV show are pretty cray-cray, but they were awesome! I'm pretty sure the no-teeth kid was in that Valentine's Day movie when he was younger, too.

I don't think she over acted it at all. I thought she was great. And agreed on the child actors. They do a very good job in it.

it was a great show but it got a little typical towards the end. I wasn't a fan of the
focus on a bad guy monster
for example, just felt very standard, and I thought the story couldve been more than that.

that said, great show, great soundtrack, and a great performance by 11 in particular

I think the show was far more than that.
It mostly centered around finding out what's going on with the building. Why did they abduct kids? Is it a government entity? Something else? I think the monster was a catalyst. It needed to be tied up and that's why there was a focus on it in the last episode. The monster was also representative of the entity at the building. The are a monster who abducts kids. Holds them against their will. Uses them as experiments. They don't let them leave.

I hope Joyce had some good home insurance cos damn but her place ends up a serious s*** hole.

so......
what was the deal with the box of food in the forest at the end? Is that suggesting that 11 went into the upside down with the monster? How does the sheriff know?

#1 - That's my assumption.
#2 - Not sure.
He got in the car with some suits. Also, she might have sensed that he lost his little girl and attached herself to him

Just notice Winona Ryder is in the show. Still looking pretty good.

It was kinda a sh!t hole to begin with...
My interior decorator told me it would cost a fortune for me to import the furniture for the "crack-den chic."

I'm pretty sure I had one of their walkie talkies as a kid, but never anyone in range to talk to.

I just think it focused too much on the noted thing, thats all im saying. The government tests and telekensis were cool and to have so much of the focus put on a simple monster just felt safe and easy I gues

I fully expect further seasons to explore the things you mention moreso
