Has anyone had this problem and knows how to fix it? When try anything that uses the TV ("Xbox, Watch TV", OneGuide, etc) it just sits at the TV loading screen until it says TV is taking too long to respond. Also when my X1 turns on and off it no longer turns off the TV with it. It's like it just started not being able to pick up my TV. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Finally got it working but not before thinking my X1 was bricked in the process. I got in a really bad state where it wasn't recognizing any commands, and when I turned it on by hand it wouldn't even fully come on it just showed a screen asking me if I wanted to turn the controller or the console off. Got it working after unplugging everything, restarting my router, and restating my cable box. Not sure what just happened but makes me glad I have a warranty.

Yeah, check that your cable box doesn't have a screensaver timeout enabled. Mine was set to 5 minutes. I set it to the max 5 hours (where was no Off option). It appears that when the cable receiver goes into screensaver mode it loses comms with the xbox. Since I've made that change I have not had the problem. Another thing to check is that your cable box isn't on a menu screen or something that the xbox can't get out of. Remember the xbox is literally typing in the tv channel numbers and pressing OK, as if it were your remote. Nothing more advanced than that.

Happened to me too. I just reset the box. Works fine now.

Thanks for the info. Mine seems to be working now since restarting everything, but I'll look for that setting later. Also, what's the general procedure for getting out of this screen saver mode? Got to be something easier than shutting the whole box down.

So what does the screen saver do then? Like will it only show up if the TV isn't actually in use or something? And just curiously, what type of cable box do you have? I know there's a slim chance we'd have the same, but mine is a Scientific Atlanta.

I have a Comcast X1 box, I don't know what the model is. For me, to get out of screensaver mode I just press Exit on the cable box remote.

I'll need to try that too. I know our DTV box has power saver mode where it shuts off after four hours and it does have the screensaver, but I hadn't made that connection previously and had to resort to hard shutdowns on the box.

This may be a stupid question, but I'm at work so can't try this out at the moment and I've been thinking about it:
If the Cable box is running through the X1, and the X1 won't let you get to the TV, how can you get out of screen saver mode? You said you just hit Exit. So you just hit Exit without seeing any cable box guide or anything on the screen?

Well I mean it's something to try anyway... hit Exit on your cable remote and if the picture doesn't come back, exit the TV App on the One, highlight the TV app, press the Menu button and then select Quit. That will force the TV app to close. You can then try running it again. Might save you from having to fully reset the One. I could be wrong on this.

I did some digging around just now and I went into the calibrating TV options of the X1. While I was in this settings I found an option on my TV called "Auto Protection Time" and it was set to 5 minutes. I set this to Off. Hopefully this fixes my problems for good.

I also found that forcing a channel change via the cable remote can sometimes work. I've got to believe that MS is aware of this and working on a fix.

Hmm, I had this happen the other day and thought it was because the day we got the Xbone we set it up on our old TV. We got a brand new HDTV the same day but were going to be setting that up the next day. It worked okay when we hooked everything up to the new tv and worked that day and the next morning but the day after that when I turned it on we couldn't get the tv signal to come on. I ended up doing a factory reset and this time it asked me specific things for the new tv that I wasn't asked for the other model so I thought maybe that was what the problem was but now I'm thinking maybe not after reading others have had this issue.
