The 2018/2019 NBA Season Thread...

Bulls win again for first back to back wins of the season. Undefeated since I saw them live.

Say what you will about LeBron, but he's the greatest to ever lace em up.

Lakers were up 15 when LeBron got hurt. Immediately wilted right after. I've never seen a player have this kind of impact on a team.

He is at the top with Jordan. Really not better though.

One of the all time greats, not *the* greatest ever. The way he makes others around him better I wonder if he will take his talents to coaching even though he has his eye on Hollywood in front of and behind the camera.

Three things make him the best to me.

One, the advanced metrics say he was better than Jordan. The validity of analytics has been debated ad nauseum in NBA circles but GMs and coaches are paying more and more attention to them each year.

Two, I think LeBron has played on significantly worse teams throughout his career. When he left the Heat, they bombed. When he left the Cavs...well...you see the Cavs. Those Bulls teams were absolutely stacked with or without Jordan.

Three, the 2016 NBA Finals.

In my mind it's LeBron, and then everyone else.

The teams LeBron went against during his career in the East were s*** also. Then the Finals he did lose doesn’t help him be the greatest ever either.

A case can be made both ways. I simply think the case for LeBron is stronger.

Jordan never played against a team as good as the Warriors in the playoffs. Four HoF players in their prime and a slightly past his prime Andre Iguodala? Jordan played cupcakes.

He injured his groin, so you might need to stay off his jock for a little while so he can heal.

Jordan era basketball was quite a bit different than it is today. I like Lebron but it's hard to compare.

Could these high scoring shooting teams of today like the Warriors handle the rough defense played in the late 80’s/early 90’s?

Most players today are too soft.

The team that Iverson took to the NBA finals is the absolute worst NBA team to ever make it to the finals. Iverson>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Lebron

LeBron is 6'8", weighs 265lbs, and was the most athletic player in the league for most of his career.

But all those short, slow, white American born players in the 1980's would have given him fits.

Inch for inch Iverson might have been the best. Definatley one of the athletes I most enjoyed watching.

Was about the only good thing about the game outside of LaVine having a beast game while still injured, and WCJ getting some good looks at the basket finally. But that call against him for tripping was complete BS. I think it was KAT driving to the net and tripped over his own feet. WCJ was at least a foot away and still got called.

How did Kris Dunn play?

Imagine the current crop if soft NBA Instagramers playing in these eras. LOL! It's also funny to see how many of these people ended up becoming teammates.

I would put Lebron at #2 - it still has to be Jordan for me. Jordan has more rings and I definitely disagree that Lebron had a worse supporting cast. Some of those Bulls teams Jordan played on, especially in the 80's, were terrible. Even during the championship years Jordan was never on a team that was "absolutely stacked". They were always at a disadvantage at the PG and Center positions - they were just structured well for the triangle offense. After Jordan left that Bulls team didn't even make the conference finals in '93-94.

I will put Lebron in the top five now. He’s not ahead of Jordan, obviously. He’s not ahead of Kareem, Wilt, Russell. Argument can be made not he’s ahead of Magic. Lebron left and made a super team. That immediate removes his from any future conversation of him being best ever if he ever leads three more teams to a title.

When Jordan retired the first time, his team won two less regular season games and lost in the 2nd round of the playoffs the next year.

Go look at what happens to teams when LeBron leaves them. Those Bulls teams were stacked.
