The Dark Crystal (Netflix)

I just realized that sadly, we don't have anyone comparable to Jim Henson now.

I used to have a DVD of The Dark Crystal with tons of behind the scenes stuff. The people they had working on it were just mind blowing creative geniuses.

I remember when I was about 8 or 9 years old I got a book about this movie from a school book fair, it had a ton of pics in it, must have read that thing and looked at those pics every day for weeks lol.

I think it's cool that they are doing this and I hope it's good. Now I just wish they'd do one based on the NeverEnding Story world of Fantasia :)

The Never Ending Story was my childhood! I watched the tape so much that my mum had to sticky tape the actual film bit. Lol.

Labyrinth was another amazing film. And I remember Dark Crystal being scary and f***ed up... was there bondage and stuff in it?

Actually, were kids movies more twisted and scary than new ones? There aren't really any freaky bits in kids movies anymore. Or traumatically sad bits.

Yeah, now they seem to be about empowerment and positivity and stuff like that lol, we had some of that back in the day too but a lot of kids movies were kind of dark. The Never Ending Story is one that will always be in my top 5 but I can see how some would think of it as depressing and scary for kids. I had the soundtrack cassette when it came out and my older sisters couldn't take me anywhere without listening to that song lol.

I know right! I played Rocky Horror on record until I was 15 and finally got to see the movie! I had no idea what the f*** it was about until I saw it. Lol.

Flight of the Navigator, Batteries Not Included, Mac and Me, Gremlins, and The Last Starfighter were some others I watched far too often.

I think parents didn't care as much about kids watching horror movies either. At least mine didn't give a f***. I saw IT when I was 9, and my cousin's covered my eyes during the scary bits so I wouldn't have nightmares... But they only made it worse!

Edit: and the Never Ending Story soundtrack!? I can only remember the theme song!
