At a glance, I'm not sure the Proud Boys are Nazis exactly, but certainly nationalists.
They strike me as very frustrated people looking for identity by turning to the past and nostalgia. Even their figurehead leader McInnes dresses basically like the main character from Falling Down.
I'm not sure there is something wrong with their basic concept, but I think they contribute unnecessary escalation. There is something a bit punkish or juvenile to them in a way and they even refer to them selves as Proud Boys instead of Men and they have a gang mentality.
Some of this feels like a weird version of Project Mayhem from Fight Club.
The proud boys are a pro western civilization chauvinists. They, like 10's of millions of us. We are proud of our heritage and ancestry and we refuse to apologize for building the modern world. Playing identity politics didn't work so well last time for us did it? Get someone who can win first and then worry about checking other boxes. I replied to her saying basically the same thing. I can't stand this "it has to be a woman or a person of color" mentality, not because of the way the right will act but because of what the response on the left will be if someone isn't sure about the candidate. They'll call any doubters sexist or racist and god forbid it's Harris they'll call them both and that'll just turn middle of the road voters off enough that they don't bother voting and Dump will end up winning a second term.

What Trump did in his election is not play to the conservative base, but to the middle and lower class white voters. He did enough to make sure his base stayed in line. Unfortunately Democrats need to do the same. Show how the economic policies of the GOP are BS to Joe Sixpack living paycheck to paycheck in Michigan. Joe Sixpack rolls his eyes the moment social issues come up. They care about economy, economy and economy. That's what the Dems need to hit hard over and over. If that is a man or a woman, great. We can't run on a progressive ticket and call anyone who votes Trump deplorables. That was literally a rallying cry for his base.
We're not exactly working with the best and brightest out here. We live in an area where 15 minutes of fame is 14:30 too long. The message needs to be short, simple and on point.
Too bad Democrats don't have an economic plan to bring back jobs. They just want to raise taxes, regulate the hell out of industry and get as many people on handouts as possible.
