matt whitaker lied under oath. trump tried to have whitaker put recused Southern District judge, Geoffrey S. Berman, back on to take over the cohen trial. Attempt to obstruct justice much?

WASHINGTON — As federal prosecutors in Manhattan gathered evidence late last year about President Trump’s role in silencing women with hush payments during the 2016 campaign, Mr. Trump called Matthew G. Whitaker, his newly installed attorney general, with a question. He asked whether Geoffrey S. Berman, the United States attorney for the Southern District of New York and a Trump ally, could be put in charge of the widening investigation, according to several American officials with direct knowledge of the call.

shocker

I donate every year to candidates I want to see win. Who does everyone think they'll donate to? I'm waiting to see if Beto and/or Biden throw their hats in. After those two, I'm not sure who I'd be able to settle on.

I am in the same camps. I don't think the other candidates have what it takes to beat Trump.

People forget too that Hillary had pneumonia right in the heart of the campaign.

The path to victory is pretty simple - energize people to vote. Whoever emerges needs to not get dragged into a war with Trump. As silly as it sounds, he should be ignored. Run a campaign telling people what good you will do for them, and shed light on all the lies in Republican policy. Don't call out Trump on anything, instead refer to everything as Republican tax plan, border policy, etc.

The average voter is tired of hearing about Trump, and most everyone else already has a strong opinion one way or the other.

You have to go after the middle class voters that were lost to Trump. Enough of these people in Michigan and other places flipped to Trump. Flip them back.

The Republicans are a lost cause. The ones who couldn't see what Trump was won't see him now. Get young people energized and get back to the middle class folks in the rust belt. Show them that Trump's lies did nothing to stop the rust.

If Biden doesnt run, I'm putting my money behind Gillabrand or Harris. The future is female. Bernie is not a Democrat. I also hope Gov. Hogan runs for the GOP. Trump wont make it to a 2nd term. the wheels are coming off next week.

The report? From what I'm reading, it's not THE report. It may be part of the conclusion of one aspect of the investigation, an a more detailed update. There's still quote a bit more that Mueller is waiting on in terms of information, interviews, case conclusions, etc. If it is THE report, it's because Mueller got wind of trump trying to shut him down completely. https://www.emptywheel.net/2019/02/20/questions-to-ask-before-reporting-a-breaking-mueller-report/

There is now another report from CNN that includes some of their famous stakeout work that indicates that there have been a lot of boxes and files moved from the Special Counsel's office this week, which may indicate some of the work is being spun out to other offices. Interesting anecdote posted on the comments of the article above:

If I’m reading Marcy’s tweets correctly, the implication of the facts as reported by CNN would be that this is at Mueller’s initiative, perhaps intentionally pre-emptive of Barr acting pro or con. Those files getting wheeled out of the office go somewhere. While storage is not impossible, they could also be going to another office for active investigation/prosecution.

A few months ago, I was chatting with an AUSA in a hitherto unnamed district-I mentioned the Cohen thing, SDNY & Mueller. the AUSA said, “yeah, it’s really interesting how he’s spreading around all these referrals”- Then clammed up. Could be nothing, of course, but my intuition was that this was referring to referrals that this person had specific direct experience of, that weren’t public.

If the CNN info is legit, it could be that far more things are ready to drop more quickly and heavily than we’ve been anticipating.

The mother of all F5 Fridays would beautiful.

The mother of all F5 Fridays would beautiful.

Yes, it would. It could be something like unsealing an already completed indictment of DJT Jr and Kushner, at minimum. Plus, with the Manafort sentencing memo due Friday, it would be an easy place to drop any information about DJT's role in directing Manafort (et al)'s coordination of the conspiracy with Russia. In theory, he could be making sure all the evidence needed is being farmed out to SDNY, where the bulk of the conspiracy would have occurred (Trump Tower), and let them push to see whether they'll try to indict him now or wait until he doesn't have the shield of the Presidency.

The thing that I'm really interested in, though, is the whole mystery appellant (Qatar) and the other appeal about testimony. It may well be that he *is* about to wrap up the Russia portion of this but will stay engaged in the conspiracy with Qatar / Saudi Arabia / Israel (my speculation) / other countries.

Thanks guys, gonna do a lot of reading from what you posted in the next few hours. Off topic, Tucker Carlson is a Koch whore and Rutger Bregman tells him so. Starting to really like this guy a lot.

She seems to now know something that she didn't before. She says they're "suspicions," but she was nearly 180 degrees with the post I liked above. Something changed her mind and I don't think it would be just because CNN backed it up.

I want a nuclear bomb on Friday.

I do actually think the CNN report with their stakeout journalism (the report of the boxes) convinced her this is legit. She's been complimentary of them in the past for similar stuff (I think they were the ones to report the mystery appellant based on some of the attorneys leaving the courthouse, and based on their tracking of the grand jury meetings through watching them were able to get the Stone arrest filmed - I assume they probably had guys staking out Jared and Junior too that day). When people who are following the story and know the regs and do the digging are reporting that something is going down, that lends it much more veracity.

I think previously the operating wisdom was that "Mueller doesn't leak", so anything reported about it winding up was quite possibly traced back to people who are being fed stories by Trump's folks to try to control the narrative. But now? Well, he still doesn't leak but the files leaving the office are a pretty significant thing, and it could conceivably fit in with the reports that the "report" is coming.

I think, without a doubt, *something* interesting is coming on Friday, and Happy Birthday to me for it! :)
