The End of the World: A Political Thread. A New Hope coming soon!

It isn't a matter of political opinion... Trump is just full of lies and quite frankly mental illness. I had far too many debates with family over this. We aren't debating a point of view and differing opinions. Trump isn't a political viewpoint, he's a moron who's words don't even make sense.

Wanting to have safer borders at a reasonable cost is fine. Thinking this orange moron is going to solve any problems is not.

I wonder if there can be some compromise - let's build a wall in Sarah Palin's backyard to keep Russia out.

The debate is now reality itself.

I give Ocasio-Cortez a lot of credit. I don't know a ton about her or her politics, but I know the right is throwing everything they have at her and she not only handles it well but throws some back. Sadly this is something that has been missing for a long time in the Democrats.

Manafort Redaction Error Reveals 2016 Interactions With Russian Biz Pal
Manafort’s attorneys appear to have made a mistake in the filing, allowing redacted portions to be revealed via copying and pasting the text to a new document. Most of what’s revealed relates to Manafort associate Konstantin Kilimnik, a Russian national who Mueller has linked to a Russian intel agency. Manafort’s attorneys write that he “conceded” to special counsel prosecutors that he discussed a “Ukraine peace plan” with Kilimnik “on more than one occasion,” and that he is accused of lying to the government about “sharing polling data with Mr. Kilimnik related to the 2016 presidential campaign.”

The redacted sections also revealed that Manafort and Kilimnik met in Madrid. The court filing does not say when that meeting occurred. But an unredacted section that follows stresses that is not uncommon to for witnesses to fail to give a complete recollection of events and that “these occurrences happened during a period when Mr. Manafort was managing a U.S. presidential campaign and had countless meetings, email communications, and other interactions with many different individuals, and traveled frequently.”

Another redacted portion reveals more details about alleged contacts Manafort has had with Trump administration officials. The filing said that an unknown individual texted Manafort about invoking his name if the individual met President Trump. “This does not constitute outreach by Mr. Manafort to the President,” a redacted line in the filing claims, while another redacted sentence says another alleged interaction is “hearsay purportedly offered by an undisclosed third party.”

So he was using this just to fund raise for his defense 2020 campaign. lol

I've tuned out completely from Trump. It isn't worth it. I unfollowed his mindless Twitter rantings ages ago and haven't missed it. My mornings are a lot less stressful without his moronic rants cluttering up my feed.

I catch the AP fact checks after the fact to stay informed, but I don't need to subject myself to his lies and propaganda.

It worries me that people still don't know how to fight Trump though. Sure, his speech is all lies, but it is lies that racist middle America sadly is willing to believe.

The networks need to stop broadcasting his propaganda. CNN was nothing but Trump 24/7 during the 2016 election. How did that work out?

Clearly Adobe Acrobat is Manafort's kryptonite.

For the unaware, Manafort’s inability to convert a PDF file to Word helped prosecutors indict him and Rick Gates on tax and bank fraud.
In 2016, Manafort wanted a fake Profit & Loss report to inflate his income in order to qualify for a bank loan. To this ened, he emailed Gates a pdf of the real P&L and had him convert it to a word doc so that it could be edited. Manfort doctored the P&L doc to show a profit and emailed it back to Gates to turn it into a pdf. The back and forth exchange created a digital paper trail that allowed prosecutors to build their case against the two.

The pic of him from yesterday makes it look like he is either not getting sleep, under insane stress, or hungover.

My wife’s aunt that is a very cool and nice woman (we visit them every year around holidays) posted last night on FB“I’m glad we have a President that cares about the people of America. Great speech.”

It still amazes me how people think this s***.

That's the problem with this rhetoric - it works. The average person didn't care about the border before 2016. It was barely an issue in 2012 or prior. You'd maybe hear a debate about sanctuary cities (a different thing obviously), but nothing on this.

Immigration was one of the very few remaining issues where common sense and some bi-partisan agreements actually happened.

Some really common sense things got done under Obama - improving the border security and giving citizenship to people who have been here and committed no crime other than coming here illegally.

Now though? Now Trump has turned what was simple into stupid. Fear is such an easy way to manipulate people. Nobody knows the facts, and that works in Trump's favor.
