Yup. The nominees are announced Tuesday. It's hard to care much about who wins (we know it'll be RDR2 anyhow), when there are 100 other year-end awards, given out by every other gaming site. Sometimes I have a personal favorite to root for, but I don't really have one this year.

It'll be the announcements that matter to me. Re. that, Keighley did qualify that some/many of them will not be game announcements, but announcements of DLC to existing games.

Anyhow, with no conferences going on, this will take its place. Some new stuff to look forward to.

The industry certainly favors quantity of awards over the awards actual quality.

God of War will win a ton of awards but I agree that RDR2 is a shoe in for this one.

Celeste doesn't belong in that list, and I've played it through twice on my switch. It's a fun little game but it's a simple platformer with a cute, simple story and great simple gameplay. Gaming media needs to stop this progressive retro thing they seem to think is pc.

AC Odyssey got left out of the Best RPG category, which seems like a slight.

Well it's in Action/Adventure where I think it belongs. Those UBI open world games are all very "RPG-lite" in my mind or at best Action RPGs.

Overall a good list. Hope FH4 wins it's category as it certainly deserves the recognition (best FH game yet). I'll finally be getting a PS4 on BF ($199 1TB Slim Spider-Man bundle) and will be playing GoW and Spider-Man at the very least from that list.

If God of War doesn't win GOTY then it got robbed. Red Dead 2 is amazing, but it's Rockstar. You expect it, and with all the time and money they had to make the game it's just not a fair fight. Not to mention it's multiplat and for whatever reason that's used against masterpieces like GoW just because more people play multiplats.

GoW gave new life to a franchise that nobody thought would be relevant on that level again. Well, PS fans did because they spot a great game a mile away. But that's beside the point. If it doesn't win i'm done with these award shows.

Sony has 21 award nominations compared to just 3 for Microsoft. Let that sink in for a minute.

You can vote at the GA website, if you want. You have to sign up (register) to vote, and I didn't want to do that. I would've voted for God of War. I know RDR2 deserves it, though.

21 nominations, that's a good year.

I'm more surprised that the actress got a nomination, she sounds fake as hell as does the guy playing Alexios for most of it. It all just sounded a bit cartoonish to me, at least it did for the majority of it. There were times he did a good job but those were the more serious moments, the general conversation stuff he sounded like a guy doing an accent and everything I've heard from her is the same thing, I blame that on the director more than the performers though.

I think both GOW and RDR2 deserve it to be honest, I could pick one today and change my mind to the other the next. This was just an awesome year for story telling in games.

I hold my excitement for anything Keighley says.
Yeah, he's a master of hype. But still, 10 is 10, so that's just a bare fact. (Actually, now that I re-read it, it says "More than 10.")

I'm glad he clarified, because at first he said "game-related announcements," which could include some add-ons or DLC (e.g., new weapon for Fortnite, big whoop). At least here he is saying "games" not "game-related announcements."
