So he directed Romancing The Stone, Back To The Future, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Forrest Gump, Cast Away, What Lies Beneath, The Polar Express. What a resume!

Yep. He apparently wants to rewrite the script but WB are happy with the one they have

Not totally on topic but I'm glad they seem to be showing Atlantis as being under water without a dome or anything, I hated how they did that in the justice league cartoons. The animated movie Throne of Atlantis and young justice did a much better job of showing Atlantis as a place where the residents actually lived in the water all the time.

Doubt Penguin will be in this film but appears to have been cast

I trust that he'll come up with something amazing, like his goose-bump-inducing "Is She With You?" track in BvS. In my opinion, Man of Steel and BvS have the best original scores for comic book movies. Such a shame they weren't recognized by the Academy Awards.

Junkie XL comments on ‘Justice League’ score, advice from Zack Snyder

JUNKIE XL: "It’s a massive undertaking. And I can’t say anything about Justice League specifically, but I’ll tell you this, and this was exactly the same experience that Hans and I had when we did work together on Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: It’s like when you see a movie like that, these iconic superhero movies, some of them have a 60 to 80 year legacy, multiple composers had a go at their themes, multiple filmmakers did their version of these characters—it’s very scary. You watch a movie and it’s like, “Holy s***, now I have to come up with something.” You’ve got sweaty hands and you’re nervous, and you talk about it over and over again—and I have exactly that relationship with Zack Snyder—and then Zack said, ”There’s only one thing you can do, and that is embrace this character as if it’s your own, keep it close to your musical soul, and just do whatever you feel is the right thing to do for this character.” That’s the only thing we can do. That’s what all these great directors did back in the day, and that’s what all these great composers did back in the day. It makes no sense for me to do extensive quoting of Hans’ score of the really amazing Batmans. It makes no sense for me to quote Superman from John Williams. Because all fantastic composers, they all did the same thing, they did something that was close to their heart, and I have to do exactly the same thing on this movie."

Oh no! My heart goes out to him and his family.:sad::sad:

Zack Snyder Steps Down From 'Justice League' to Deal With Family Tragedy

The filmmaker's daughter died by suicide in March, prompting him to take a break from work and Joss Whedon to finish the Warner Bros. superhero pic: "I’ve decided to take a step back from the movie to be with my family, be with my kids, who really need me."

Superheroes have always been about doing the right thing in the hardest of circumstances. Now Zack Snyder, one of the biggest filmmakers in the genre and the director of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and the upcoming Justice League, finds himself in just such a situation.

Snyder tells The Hollywood Reporter he is stepping away from Justice League, Warner Bros.’ all-star DC Comics superhero mega-movie that is in post-production, in order to deal with the sudden death of his daughter. Snyder's wife, Deborah Snyder, who is a producer on Justice League, also is taking a break to focus on the healing of their family.

Stepping in to shepherd the movie through post and the shooting of some additional scenes will be Joss Whedon, the Avengers filmmaker and creator of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. With Whedon's help, the movie is still on track for its Nov. 17 release date.

Snyder’s daughter, Autumn Snyder, died by suicide in March at age 20. Her death has been kept private, with only a small inner circle aware of what happened, even as the movie was put on a two-week break for the Snyders to deal with the immediate effects of the tragedy. Zack Snyder says he initially was eager to return to the film, which stars Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Jason Momoa and Ezra Miller.

“In my mind, I thought it was a cathartic thing to go back to work, to just bury myself and see if that was way through it,” says an emotional Snyder in an interview Monday in his office on the Warner Bros. lot with Deborah sitting by his side. “The demands of this job are pretty intense. It is all consuming. And in the last two months I’ve come to the realization …I’ve decided to take a step back from the movie to be with my family, be with my kids, who really need me. They are all having a hard time. I’m having a hard time.”

The studio is fully behind the move. “What they are going through is unimaginable, and my heart — our hearts — go out to them, says Warner Bros. Pictures president Toby Emmerich.

One of the first things the studio floated was the possibility of pushing back the release date of the movie, but the Snyders decided against that suggestion. Warners also extended Snyder's first-look deal to give him time to work on other planned projects when he returns to work.

Snyder, after screening a rough cut of Justice League for fellow filmmakers and friends, wanted to add additional scenes, so he brought Whedon on board to write them. But as he prepared to shoot the scenes in England, Snyder realized it was not the time to leave home. “The directing is minimal and it has to adhere to the style and tone and the template that Zack set,” says Emmerich. “We’re not introducing any new characters. It’s the same characters in some new scenes. He’s handing a baton to Joss but the course has really been set by Zack. I still believe that despite this tragedy, we’ll still end up with a great movie.”

This isn’t the first time that Warners has had to deal with the unthinkable affecting a high-profile DC movie. In 2008, Heath Ledger passed away after shooting had wrapped for The Dark Knight but prior to the movie being finished and released. The tragedy put the studio and filmmaker Christopher Nolan in a very delicate position of balancing mourning with the demands of releasing a tentpole.

The Internet and comic book movie fans being what they are, Snyder already is anticipating what what some DC loyalists may think.

“Here’s the thing, I never planned to make this public,” he says. “I thought it would just be in the family, a private matter, our private sorrow that we would deal with. When it became obvious that I need to take break, I knew there would be narratives created on the internet. They’ll do what they do. The truth it…I’m past caring about that kind of thing now.”

The death of Autumn, Zack's daughter from his first marriage (in addition to Autumn, he and Deborah have been raising seven kids and step-kids) has brought a new perspective and a new focus for him. “I want the movie to be amazing and I’m a fan, but that all pales pretty quickly in comparison," he says. “I know the fans are going to be worried about the movie but there are seven other kids that need me,” he says. “ In the end, it’s just a movie. It’s a great movie. But it’s just a movie.

Autumn, who was attending Sarah Lawrence College, loved “to write, to write, to write,” says Deborah. Their daughter had written a sci-fi fantasy novel in the first person. It featured a character who was an outsider and who had trouble fitting in.

Deborah is holding on to the thought that she was the first person her daughter gave the book to read, even now as the story takes on a new meaning under the circumstances. “You’re heading her voice,” Deborah says, fighting back tears.

The Snyders would like to someday see that manuscript published, with the proceeds going to a charity. “In the end, she didn’t make it, but her character does and I think there would be something cathartic for people,” says Zack.

The thought of his daughter’s writing prompts Zack to recall another memory. Autumn had a quote that she included in everything she wrote. (“Every. Single. Thing,” chuckles Zack). It’s from author Chris Palahniuk: “We all die. The goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will.”

“Maybe this helps,” Zack says.

Batman-news' version:

Zack Snyder steps down from ‘Justice League’ after family tragedy, Joss Whedon to finish movie

A terrible family tragedy has forced Zack Snyder to step down from his work on Justice League, he revealed to The Hollywood Reporter. Snyder’s wife and producing partner Deborah Snyder will also be taking a break. The Avengers (and soon to be Batgirl) director Joss Whedon will be taking over and finishing Justice League.

In March, Snyder’s daughter Autumn committed suicide at the age of 20. Snyder initially planned to continue to work on Justice League, even after taking two weeks off to cope with the tragic loss, but understandably, it became too much to deal with.

“In my mind, I thought it was a cathartic thing to go back to work, to just bury myself and see if that was way through it,” Snyder told The Hollywood Reporter today, with his wife Deborah sitting by his side. “The demands of this job are pretty intense. It is all consuming. And in the last two months I’ve come to the realization …I’ve decided to take a step back from the movie to be with my family, be with my kids, who really need me. They are all having a hard time. I’m having a hard time.”

Warner Bros. is supporting the Snyders during this difficult time. “What they are going through is unimaginable, and my heart — our hearts — go out to them,” says Warner Bros. Pictures president Toby Emmerich.

Warner Bros. suggested delaying the release of Justice League so that Snyder could finish the movie himself, but he rejected that idea. After seeing a rough cut, Snyder decided that he wanted to add more scenes to Justice League. He brought in Joss Whedon to write them. As Snyder was getting ready to head back to London to shoot the additional scenes, he realized he could no longer finish the project himself.

It sounds like Snyder went public with this personal news because he knew how his critics would react if we heard he was stepping down without context.

“Here’s the thing, I never planned to make this public,” Snyder said. “I thought it would just be in the family, a private matter, our private sorrow that we would deal with. When it became obvious that I need to take break, I knew there would be narratives created on the internet. They’ll do what they do. The truth it…I’m past caring about that kind of thing now.”

I wish Zack and Deborah Snyder the best as they deal with their terrible loss.

Terrible news but also shows how s***ty it is that he knows the haters will come out with loads of bs and claim them as fact if he just stepped down without saying why exactly.

Click bait s*** like this

Annoying. Almost as bad as gaming media, imo.

The movie is in post production. I'm glad it's in good hands, and that Whedon gets to do whatever possible pickups and supervise the editing, but Zack already directed the movie.

He will direct the re shoots they are about to do but that's just a couple scenes

I didn't want to get caught up in the term "reshoot", because it could obviously be interpreted to mean more than it is.

I would prefer Zack to direct those couple additional scenes himself. The man is a visual wizard. But the movie is in good hand. Joss Whedon is a perfect candidate as he has already directed 2 superhero assembly mega blockbusters before. It's great of him to offer his friend a helping hand. It's still a 99.9% a Zack Snyder film.

So sad......
Having worked with Zack on JL, he is easily one of the nicest and best directors I have ever had the pleasure of working for.

Another "insider source" news when it comes to DCEU. Take it with a grain of salt.

Insider Says “Prepare To Be Impressed” With Justice League, Aquaman And Wonder Woman Steal The Film
http://wegotthiscovered.com/movies/insider-says-prepare-impressed-justice-league/#comments-624735

Wonder Woman is the DCEU film on everyone’s mind at the moment, and understandably so given that it’s due to storm into theatres tomorrow (or today, depending on which side of the pond you live). Not only is its release imminent, but Patty Jenkins’ blockbuster is scoring some fantastic reviews so far, sitting at an impressive 93% on Rotten Tomatoes. It’s a big win for Warner Bros. then, not to mention in-development female superhero projects everywhere, and the flick has no doubt made some important strides in getting the DC Extended Universe back on track, after the rough reception it received with efforts like Batman V Superman and Suicide Squad.

But as good as it may be, the real test for the franchise will ultimately come a bit later this year in the form of Justice League – scheduled for release on November 17th – one of the most highly anticipated comic book movies ever. Bringing together several iconic DC superheroes on the big screen, in live-action, for the first time, the film is one on which fans are heavily focused.

To date, we’ve heard some very mixed things about Zack Snyder’s upcoming effort, but given how well Wonder Woman ultimately turned out, there’s a cloud of optimism starting to build around the flick. Granted, it’ll still be quite a while before we know for sure what we’re in for, but if some recent buzz is to be believed, it sounds like the DCEU may have another win on their hands here.

Earlier this week, co-host of the Batman on Film podcast, Rick Shew, Tweeted that he’d spoken to someone who’s seen an unedited version of the movie. The individual in question wasn’t a fan of Batman V Superman, but did tell Shew that he should “prepare to be impressed” with Justice League. Of course, Shew wouldn’t reveal who this person was, but did go to bat for him, assuring us that he’s “legit” and a “straight shooter,” while also letting slip that he’s a corporate executive at a major movie theatre chain. Finally, Shew noted that this same source told him that Wonder Woman and Aquaman steal the film – which isn’t too difficult to imagine.

As with all early buzz surrounding Justice League, and any movie, really, we advise taking this with the usual grain of salt, especially since we’re still so far out from release. That being said, you can’t deny that reactions like these are exciting to hear and with the DCEU now starting to pick up some momentum and clearing away all that doom and gloom that’s surrounded it for so long, we’re hopeful that November’s big team-up flick can manage to truly steer the franchise back in the right direction.

i just cant see it being cohesive with the amount of characters PLUS the amount of NEW characters. Villian also needs to be built since there is nothing going into it
